Peter's pov
^*^*^*^

We were all sitting around in the living room, eating some snacks and talking. When Cole had a random thought.

"You know, it would be fun to go camping together."
Cole said.

"Uck, why would anyone, purposely, want to go camping!?" Keith complained.

"Uhh, excuse me. It's very relaxing and a literal breath of fresh air." Cole said, placing his tea down.

"Yeah, no. Your just crazy." Keith said.

"I bet you couldn't even last one day in the woods alone." Cole challenged.

Keith scoffed. "One day? That's it?"

"We can find out now. We have a few days with nothing planned. So why not do it? Big guy." Cole said sarcastically, patting Keith on his shoulder.

"Fine. You got a challenge." Keith said firmly.
"But it won't be as fun as video games." He said, leaning back onto the couch.

"Alright, we get it. Chill." I said.

"This isn't a measuring test." Spencer said, rolling his eyes.

"We know who's bigger." Keith and Cole said simultaneously. Then stared at each other.

"Oh, really!?" Keith said.

"Yeah." Cole said calmly.

"Guys." I said annoyed. Waiting for them to stop bickering.

Cole motioned towards me, "He knows."

Keith's jaw dropped. "That doesn't mea-"

"Guys! It was a joke, let's move on." Spencer yelled out.

Keith grumbled, mumbling something under his breath.

"Oh, come on. Speak up. What do you have to say Keith?" Cole asked.

"I know who's bigger." Keith said sternly.

"Yeah?... How's that? You been spying on me?" Cole asked. Keith's eyes widened and he had a panicked expression.
"Hmm? Nothing?"

"Shut up." Keith said quietly.

🛣️⛰️🌲

Next thing I knew we were in the middle of nowhere, no service or shops, barely any people. Just a small campground hidden in the trees.

"Wooo! I love this already." Cole called out, his arms spread open as he looked up then closed his eyes. Breathing in the fresh air of the woods.
Besides the occasional barbecue.

Pine trees were sparsely around the campground, with empty spots for trailers, campers, tents, eta. The rest of the woods were tighter packed, with some trails for people to walk or bike.

At the entrance there was a small cabin where you paid for your spot and could buy a few things. Like firewood, bags of ice, bug repellent, eta.

It wasn't to busy here today, so we got a empty spot for all of us to enjoy together. But we'd still have to share tents. I'm a little worried about how that'll work out later.
Laying on the cold, hard ground again. Hopefully I'll be able to share with Cole and only him. But I'd still rather have a bed.

"Ugh, the bugs are already getting to me." Cindy said annoyed, swaying them away.
"Why are they only going after me!?" She said as she danced around, trying to shake them away from her legs.

"Maybe they just like your legs, or some sort perfume. I dunno." William said, grinning as he watched her swat the tiny insects away.

"Ugh." She complained again, spraying more bug spray all over herself.
It's so strong smelling and literally poison, but after dealing with bugs for so long, you'll wish you'd had it sooner. Speaking from experience. The only way to get rid of them in the island was fire, even then that barely helped.

"Ah, don't you love it?" Cole asked, his hands on his waist.

"Eh. Just some trees." Keith said.

Cole side eyed him hard, then rolled his eyes.
"Anyways, this is going to be so much fun."

🏕️🪵

"Why isn't this going together?" William complained, trying to put a small grill together.

Cindy looked over his shoulder, "Maybe you should read the instructions, you know, the ones they give you?" She said, waving the paper in front of him.

He looked at her, grumbling, then sighing as he grabbed the paper.

"How's it going with the tent?" I asked then looked over at Keith. Struggling... hard.
"Uhhh. I regret asking."

Cole sighed then walked over to help Keith.
At first he didn't want to accept any kind of help, but then he just handed the pieces to Cole.

Eventually after more than an hour struggling, we got all three tents up, the grill assembled and figured out where everything went.
Cole made a fire pit, with all of our chairs circled around it.

"There's no bears around here... right?" Keith asked worriedly, glancing around.

Cole paused, shaking his head. "No."

"Alright... I wasn't worried! I was just, curious." Keith said, hitting his hands together.

"I'll go find some wood for the fire." Cole said.

"Dude, you can just go get firewood by the shop." Keith said, gesturing in the direction.

Cole looked at him with a blank expression. Then walked off into the woods. I got up and followed him.

"Couldn't stay away, huh?" Cole asked as I followed behind him.

"Shut up." I muttered.

"Hey." Cole said firmly, pausing to look at me. "This it nature, respect it."

"Ugh, now you sound like Garvey..." I said annoyed.
"But I mean... I do kinda miss being out here. In the woods, just surviving. Me and you." I said, grabbing his hands.

"Yeah, except we only got together after. I mean, just think of all those lonely, cold nights we could have cuddled together." Cole said.
We smiled together, chuckling at the thought.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

🌲🪵

Me and Cole walked back with arm fulls of sticks.

"What took y'all so long?" Keith said annoyed and suspicious.

"Here." Cole said, dropping the sticks in front of Keith. He just stared at them unimpressed.

"It's my wood, to keep you warm." Cole said with a straight face, hands on his hips in a proud way.
It made me choke up laughing, while Keith looked at him with disgust.

"I-uh-ugh." Keith mumbled then walked away.

Cole just laughed to himself.

It was starting to get dark, since it took us longer than expected to get out here and set up.

"Look at this, my sleeping bag is the best out of all of these." Spencer said. He wasn't really happy about being out here but he had the most bougie stuff to keep himself comfortable.

"Does it matter?" Keith asked.

"Yes. So don't complain to me later when your wishing you had my stuff." Spencer said.

"So, who's sleeping where?" Cindy asked.

"Uh...." We all kinda mumbled, looking around at each other.

"Me and Cole will take this one." I spat out first, pointing at the grey and orange tent.

"Okay, I get this one!" Spencer said, pointing at the tent beside him. Aka the expensive one he bought.

"Alright, I guess I'll share with you." Keith said quietly.

"Okay, then..." Cindy said, turning towards William. "I guess we'll have to share this one."

"At least it's the biggest tent." William said.
"You didn't bring an entire bed right?"

"No, I didn't." Cindy said with a laugh.

"But you thought about it?" William asked.

"Maybe..." She said quietly.

"Alright, who wants what?" William asked, grilling burgers and hotdogs.

"I want both! I'm hungry." Keith said, running over to grab a plate.

"Ha... both." Spencer mumbled to himself.

"Eh, I dunno. I'm just gonna eat something." Cole said.

"You'll eat anything." I said judgingly.

We all grabbed our plates, loading them up with burgers and hotdogs, putting toppings on, grabbing some chips and drinks then sitting down in front of the campfire.

"Remember to enjoy your food, it's not just food, it's fuel, it's love, it's what ever you mak-" Cole started to say.

"Cole!..." I yelled looking over at him.
He looked at me surprised and confused.

"Sorry... but. Can you not? It's like a lecture and I'm just trying to enjoy this... alright?" I said annoyed.

Cole shut his mouth and continued to stare at me. Taking a deep sigh then eating his food.

"Wow... rude. But yeah I didn't wanna listen to it either." Keith said, taking a big bite of his burger.

"Well I'm going to keep talking like this while we're here, so get used to it." Cole said.

"Ughh, fine. But your only allowed to do it once a day." I said.

"Why?" Cole asked.

"It just gets kinda annoying. I mean, on the island it made sense, but now... we're... we don't need that as much anymore. It's important to remember but we don't really need to hear it all the time." I explained.

"Alright, I'll try not to do it that much." He said.

"This is... actually kinda good." Cindy said as she ate  her messy burger.

"What? Just because we're outside doesn't mean the food is bad." William said.

"Eh, it's alright." Spencer said.

"What? You used to a five course meal? Rich boy." Keith said jokingly. Both him and Spencer laughing.

"Nooo. Well... no." Spencer said.

We talked around the campfire that Cole lovingly tended to. Telling stories, laughing at jokes, relaxing in the calm night.

Taking a deep breath as I sat back in my chair. "Ahh, this is nice. At least it's not cold like Alaska." I laughed, looking towards Cole.

"True." He said tiredly.

"You ready to go sleep?" I asked.

"Mmmm." He mumbled, rubbing his head.

"Hey! We haven't had marshmallows yet!" Spencer said.

"Yeah!" Keith added. "We have to make s'mores!"

"We can tomorrow." Cole said tiredly.

"Oh, come on! It's s'mores! We hav-" Keith started to say.

"Keith..." Cole said annoyed. "Do what you want dude, I'm laying down before I fall down." He said, slowly standing up.

"But that's no fun! We should do it together!" Keith yelled out.

"Hey, hey, hey. Be quiet. It's late, time for everyone to go to bed." Cindy spoke up.

"Mm, yeah." William yawned. "Now that I think of it, I'm really tired." He stretched out. "Im going to bed...well, tent."
He got up and crawled into the tent.

While Cole got into his.
Hmm, definitely related.

I yawned, getting out of my own chair. Putting the fire out then getting into the tent with Cole.
I mumbled as I crawled in.

"Ughhh, I miss my bed already." I groaned.

"You mean my bed?" Cole said.

"Our bed."

He smiled, laughing to himself. "Alright, come here. We can cuddle."

"Alright." I said tiredly, getting into a comfortable position next to him.
We had a foam mattress topper to lay on, two sleeping bags, an extra blanket and two pillows.
"Mmm, I don't really like sleeping bags."

"It's better then those hard cots we had on the island." Cole said.

"True." I said, wrapping one arm around him and tucking one close to my body.

"Just like the island." Cole said with a sigh.

"Yeah... cuddling together, warm nights, other people... totally just the same." I said sarcastically.

"Okay... better." He lightly laughed, holding me close to him.
"Goodnight, baby."

"Goodnight." I yawned.

Keith's pov
^^**^^**

Man, I can't believe they dragged me out here. Camping... ugh. And no s'mores! Can you believe that!?

Spencer not only had his fancy sleeping bag, but some pillows, a foam topper to lay on, way to many clothes, an excessively big water bottle, food, bug spray, eta. It's like his bag is bottomless.

Not really camping with all of that stuff. But it's still a tent... outside... in the hot night...
Why am I out here again.

"I bet you wouldn't last a day." Cole said challengingly.

"Oh, really!?" I said.

I can do this... I can, do this.
It's just a stupid challenge, it can still be fun and I'll win!

My body was very tired, but my mind kept racing. I just stared up at the top of the tent. It was way to hot to sleep and even laying on stuff, I could still feel the hard ground.

"Goodnight, Keith." Spencer said quietly, snuggling up in his sleeping bag.

"Yeah, night." I said, glancing over at him.
Sighing... it's going to be a long night.

Constant twisting and turning, the ruffling of my sleeping bag as I tried to maneuver to a comfortable position. My mind wouldn't shut up, my body wouldn't relax, it was torture.

Peter's pov
^*^*^*^

It wasn't the most comfortable night, but I managed to get more sleep than on the island. The sunlight lit up the inside of the thin tent.
Birds alright up, chirping and flying around.

Ugh, I guess I'll have to get up soon.
Turning onto my back, stretching out. I- ugh, I really don't wanna get up yet.

Glancing over to Cole, he was still asleep. Huh, guess he won't notice if I don't get up yet. Ha, he won't know.
Snuggling back into a comfortable position, closing my eyes and relaxing.

"Ah, time to get up! Wake up sleepy head!" Cole said suddenly, shaking me.

...you got to be kidding me...

He stretched out, getting out of his sleeping bag and getting out of the tent.
"Come on, Peter! It's morning!"

"Ughhh!" I groaned, covering my face from the bright sun. "I never get anytime to myself!"

"Hey... you love me." He said, sticking his head into the tent.
"Anyways, come on!" He said, shaking my leg.

Slowly getting up, I squinted my eyes as I looked outside of the tent. It was very bright, but quiet. Some animals around but no people up yet.
Except Cole...of course.

"Why are you up so early?" I asked.

"Because the skies awake, so I'm awake." He said sarcastically.

"It-its to early for this. Ughhhh." I grumbled, falling back into the tent.

"Where are you going?" I asked curiously, glancing up.
Cole was walking away.

"I gotta pee." He yelled.

Wow...how romantic... sleeping outside on the hard ground then waking up with the birds... just for him to leave.

"Why is he up already?" Keith complained, sticking his head of his tent, looking tired with messy hair.

"Get up everyone! It's time for breakfast! Early bird gets the worm!" Cole yelled out to all of us.
A loud collective groan.

Why he suddenly a morning person?

"Go back to sleep!" Keith yelled out.

"Don't yell at me, or I'll drag you out of that tent." Cole said jokingly.

Keith just mumbled something, laying back in his tent.

"Alright then." Cole said calmly then grabbed Keith's legs, actually dragging his out of the tent.

"H-h-hey! Stop that!" Keith complained, trying to pull his legs free.

"Good morning." Cole said sweetly, patting Keith's head.

He was stunned. "Something is seriously wrong with you. This is terrifying."

"I'm making everyone breakfast. Your welcome." Cole said, starting a fire then grabbing some pots, pans and food.

"Dude..." Spencer mumbled, rubbing his eyes then looking outside of the tent. Meanwhile Keith was still sitting there stunned.

"No wonder that bear hated him." Spencer said.

"Ha." Keith laughed, looking at Spencer. Both of them lightly laughing together.
"Now, that was a good one."

"Why are all of you up this early?" William said suddenly, emerging out of the tent like a hibernating bear.
He was as tired and confused as the rest of us.

"Time for breakfast everyone!" Cole called out.

"Eh, at least there's food." Keith said, standing up and sitting in one of the camping chairs.

William slowly stumbled over to a chair, sitting down and rubbing his face. "Please tell me there's coffee."

"Yep." Cole replied.

"Oh, good." William said. Cole poured some coffee into a mug and handed it to him.
"Mm, thanks."

"Is mom up yet?" Cole asked.

William glanced back at the tent. "No, I think she has earplugs or something. How are teenagers so loud?"

"Hey, blame your creation." Keith said, pointing at Cole.

Making everyone start laughing.

"Why'd you just call me?" Cole asked in confused and annoyed state, while still laughing.

"Uh... nothing." Keith said with wide eyes.

🌤️

"What should we do today?" Cindy asked.

We had breakfast that Cole made, sitting together in a circle as we ate and talked. We started to wake up after we ate, so we all got dressed for the day.
It's pretty hot, 80 something degrees. In fahrenheit of course, I could never remember celsius.

"Eh, I dunno. What is there to do?" Spencer asked.

"Survive?" Cole said, cleaning up the dishes and putting up the trash.

"Wow, Cole cooked and is cleaning!" Cindy said sarcastically.

He looked up at her, frowning.

"Wow, that is impressive." William joked.

"We could go check out the trails and some of the scenery." Cindy said.

"Ooo, I'm up for that!" Spencer said.

"Alright, we can go do that. Anyone else wanna join?" She asked.

"I'm thinking about going down to the lake. Get some fishing in." William said, looking over towards the calm lake.

"You? Fishing?" Cindy asked.

"Yeah... what about it?" He asked.

"It's just that... you never fished in your entire life." She said.

"Wh- w- so?" He asked.

"Just- doesn't seem like it would go well." She said judgingly, taking a sip of her drink.

"What!? Why? It's just fishing." William said.

"...mmm, right." She mumbled.

"I'll go." Cole spoke up. "I haven't fished in awhile, it'll be nice. We can get us some dinner."

"Alright." William said.

"What about you?" Cole asked, turning towards me.

"Uh." I thought, looking around. "I did have something in mind. I'll figure it out." I said.

"What about you Keith? Wanna go surviving in the wilderness?" Cole asked.

Keith just stared at him with a frown.
"I guess I'll go with Cindy and Spencer or something."

"Okay." Cole said. Everyone got up, getting some supplies to take with them, for whatever they'd be doing.

"You okay?" Cole asked me, standing in front of my chair.

"Yeah, why?" I asked confused.

"Your going to be over here alone. Is that what you want?" He asked.

"Yeah, I wanted some alone time." I explained.

"Alright, love you." He said, giving me a soft kiss.

"Hey! Really? Even here. What about respect nature?" Keith complained.

"You don't have to look." Cole said.

"It is natural." I said.

"No, it's not." Keith said judgingly.

"Um, yes it is. There's over 1500 species that are "gay" and tha-" Spencer started to argue.

Keith just stared off into the distance, while Spencer complained in his ear.

"Let's get going..." Cindy said, the three of them headed off to the trails to find some pretty views.

Cole and William headed off to the lake together, holding their fishing rods, bait and snacks.

Taking a deep breath, alone... ahhh.
Just enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature, the smell of fresh air, the gentle breeze, everything was, great.
Now all that's missing is the spirit bear.

Cole would probably see it somewhere.

Getting out of my chair then going to find what I was looking for.

🌊🐟🦆🐠💧🎣

Cole's pov
<><><><>

Me and Wil- my dad rented a small boat and went out onto the lake. Setting up are fishing rods, getting comfortable then waiting for a bite.

"What was fishing like in the island?" My dad asked.

"Uh, annoying. A spear is tricky to use, but it's even harder with your bare hands. I mean- unless your like a bear." I explained and joked.

"Ha, what, catching a salmon in your mouth?" He said jokingly.

"Yeah, its hard to do, but really fun." I said sarcastically.

We talked together, making some jokes every now and then. Waiting for a small movement on the line, a tiny tug. But nothing yet.
Until finally after about half and hour, my dads line had hooked on something.

"Ha! Finally!" He said excitedly. Reeling it in, the fish flopping around, then- it broke off.

"So much for that..." I said.

He looked at me, "H-hey..."

"Don't worry, there'll be more." I said hopeful.
"We just have to wait"

. . .

"Sooo, what was that about waiting for more?..." He asked sarcastically.

"You just have to be quiet... Be still. Then you become invisible. Nothing notices you, animals just come right up to you. It's so crazy. I don't know how to describe it." I explained, remembering the island, the peaceful days, quietly soaking in the pond, seeing the wild animals everyday.
But my favorite was when I caught a glimpse of the Spirit Bear.

I sat back in the boat, closing my eyes and slowly breathing. Everything disappeared. Memories and images of the island flooded back.
Why can't I go back there?

Why was surviving in the island, easier?

There was a sudden tug on my fishing line. It was heavy, so had to be a decent sized one.
I reeled it in, taking my time, then pulled up the line onto the boat, revealing a fish, that was luckily still on the line.

"Ha! Told you'd there would be more." I said, proudly holding up the fish. It was about the size of a football, flopping around in my hands.

"Good job." My dad said, both of us smiling.
"How about we get a picture?" He asked.

"Alright, take it quick though. I don't want to lose this guy." I said, trying to keep hold on the slimy fish.

"Smile!" He said, taking a picture of all of us.
"Oh, that turned out great."

I out the fish Into a bucket then looked at the photo.
"It did." The photo showed my dad holding the camera, smiling, and me struggling holding the fish up.

"Now you got to get one. Might take awhile though..." I said judgingly.

"Oh, really? Let's see who catches the most." He challenged.

"The most what?... Boots?" I laughed.

"Alright, then. Should we make this a bet?" He asked, crossing his arms.

"Sure. Go ahead, what are we betting?" I asked, sitting back down.

"Wel-... I'll think of something." He said, sitting back down.
We both grabbed our fishing rods and waited for more fish to bite.

"How about... Who ever gets the most fish, gets to make the other person do something." He said.

"How many fish?" I asked, looking up as the sky. The orange and red hues lighting up the sky, but it would soon be dark.

"How about first to three?" He asked.

"Okay. I'm already one third there." I said, looking at the fish in the bucket.

"But that doesn't mean you'll catch anymore. And it would be a shame if you accidentally lost that fish..." He said, side eyeing the bucket.

"Uh, I don't think so!" I said, pulling the bucket closer to me.

We talked while we waited for more fish. Well, more of challenging and arguing, but we were enjoying it.

🎣🐟🌊

We headed back to our campsite, carrying our fishes.
Cindy, Spencer and Keith were already there, talking about something and Cindy was showing off some photos to Peter.

"Ooo, look at you boys, with all your fishes." Cindy said with a smile.

"Mm, hm, we're eating good tonight." I said.

I grabbed a knife, then started cleaning the fishes. Carefully taking my time to properly cut and gut each one of them. My dad watched and attempted to clean one himself, but that didn't go to well.
So instead he grilled up the fishes, potatoes and asparagus.
While I seasoned all of it.

Everyone grabbed their plates, filling them up with the food we made.

"It's made with love." I said jokingly.

"Your such a dork." Peter said shaking his head.

"Yeah, but you love it." I said, kissing his cheek.

"Ugh, I'm just trying to eat. Can you two stop!?" Keith complained.

"Why are you so mad? Still single?" I said.

Keith clenched his jaw, grabbing his food then sitting down.

Laughing quietly to myself, "I think we need to get him a girlfriend." I said to Peter.

"Mmm, this looks so good. Thanks for making dinner, boys!" Cindy said happily.

"Your welcome. I caught most of them." I said, looking at my dad.

"Mm, hmm." He mumbled, looking back at me.

I waited until everyone got their own food, then plated up. Grabbing a piece of fish, pilling on some potatoes, getting some asparagus then grabbing a bottle of water. We had soda but I tried not to drink those to often, especially when we're out here.

🌌
🔥
🪵

Peter was laid back in his chair, holding a drink and staring into the fire pit.
Walking up to him, "Hey, baby." I said softly, rubbing head.

He snapped out of his trance, "Oh, hey."

The way he would randomly zone out then snap back was always so funny to me. For no real reason.

"Can I sit with you?" I asked.

He looked down at the flimsy chair then over to the empty one beside him. "Just sit in the empty one." He said, gesturing towards it.

"No. I want to sit with you." I said, leaning down to his level. "Don't make me sit on you." I said jokingly.

He held in a laugh, covering his face. "Ugh, come here you big gorilla."

I made him get up briefly, so I could sit down, then let him sit on my lap.
Glancing down at the chair, hoping it wouldn't collapse suddenly.

Peter leaned back onto me, curled up on my lap. I had my arms around him, rubbing his back and resting my head against his.

Both of us were so tired, our eyes were droopy and breathing slowly. I'm not sure why we're still awake, but I guess we're just gonna sit here together for awhile. But I don't mind, although I am really missing my bed right now.

Hearing some quiet whispers on the other side of the fire pit, I listened in.

"Aww, look at them." Cindy said happily, holding her hand to her chest.
"They're so cute."

"Awww." Spencer added. "Now I'm tired and want to cuddle."

"Eh, they're always together. But at least I'm not the third wheel right now." Keith said annoyed.

"They weren't together today." Spencer said.

"Yeah, me and Cole were on the lake for like- I dunno at least 2 hours." William said.

"More like 3." Cindy corrected.

"Eh, I don't remember. It was a lot of just sitting and waiting. Some talking. But I'm way to tired to remember." William said, rubbing his eyebrows then yawning.
"I'm going to bed." He said standing up and stretching. Then looking over at the tent.
"Well- tent." He coughed "Uh, Goodnight." He mumbled then climbed into the tent, quickly falling asleep.

"Mmmm, I should probably go to sleep too." Cindy's said. "Goodnight, boys... oh, but first." She took out her phone and took a picture of me and Peter sitting together in the chair.
"Aww. Alright, goodnight everyone." She said, getting into the tent.

"Damn, guess we're all going to bed. Mm, sounds good though." Keith said, going to lay down as well.

Spencer got up, walking over to towards us, nudging me out of my sleepy state.
"Hey, you should go sleep in the tent." He said nicely, pointing at the makeshift bed instead of these flimsy chairs.

"Yeah... thanks. Goodnight, Spencer." I said quietly, yawning.
Gently shaking Peter, "Baby, let's go lay down, okay?"

He grumbled, basically asleep in my lap.
"Come on, just get up and walk a few steps."

"Noooo." He mumbled, grabbing onto my shirt.

I sighed, "Alright, fine." I gently moved him off of my lap so I could stand. Letting him stay in the chair while I put out the fire then went back to him.
Picking him up and carrying him the few feet to our tent.

My arms were barely working, but at least I managed to get him into the tent before they gave out.
Trying to get him into his sleeping bag, then getting into my own.

Peter was so tired that he was already asleep, with the sound of his soft, little snores. Putting my arm around him, nuzzling closer then falling asleep with him.

Even though we didn't do much today, the sun must have tired everyone out.
It's been so nice to be back in nature, especially getting to enjoy it with others.

Maybe I'll dream of the Spirit Bear...
