This is set back to when Peter's parents didn't know he was gay. It'll be fun.

Peter's pov
^*^*^*^

"Oh, no way! I won that game! Fair and square!" I shouted.

"You did not! You definitely cheated!" Cole argued, gesturing towards the tv.

"No I didn't!" Just accept that!"

Cole continued to complain, saying I must have cheated some way.

"Just because I'm better at something than you, doesn't mean I'm cheating!" I said.

"But you-"
He was cut off.

"Boys!!" My mom barged into my room.
Both of us wide eyed and startled.

"Why are you two so loud?" She asked annoyed, hand son her hips.

"Oh, uh... sorry." We apologized, nervously smiling.

She sighed, closing the door then walking away.
We sat there for a moment in silence.

"Huh- that went well." Cole said.

Rolling my eyes at him then looking back at the tv.

"Let's just play another game. Okay?" I said.

"Alright. What we playin?" He asked.

"How about this one. But- no getting angry when I win." I said.

"What-? Oh come on. I just- oh..." He said realizing his tone.

"Yeah, Mr. Anger issues."

"Ugh, fine. You won that one." Cole admitted, laying back onto my bed.

"Yep. I know." I said, leaning on my elbow.

"Hey, no need to rub it in." He said annoyed.

"Oh really? I thought you liked being rubbed..." I said slowly in a low voice. Tracing on fingers on his torso.

Too flustered to say anything he just laid there.
Shaking my head at him.

"Oh your adorable." I said, leaning up to kiss him.
Rubbing my hand across his torso while we kissed.

"Mm." I pulled away, thinking for a second.
"Hey, Cole?"

"Yes, baby?"

"Can we, make out and- maybe do some stuff?" I looked into his eyes seductively.

"Oh, I-uh." Cole mumbled flustered.
Glancing towards the door.

"I can lock it. Okay?" I said, getting up to lock my bedroom door. Then getting back to him.

"Yeah. Thanks baby. Love you." He smiled, gently grabbing my face, kissing me.

🌹🍃

"Do you have to leave?" I pouted, holding onto his hand.

"Yeah. But we can still talk on the phone. I'm just really tired." He said, standing beside my bed while I held onto him.

"But- why can't you stay hereeee?" I whined.

"Baby. Your parents won't let me stay the night. You know that." He explained.
Grabbing my hand, he lifted it up to his lips. Leaving a gentle kiss.

"I'm sorry I have to go. But, maybe we can have a sleepover sometime." He winked.

"Mmm, fine. Goodnight then." I said sadly.

"I love you." He said sweetly, kissing my forehead then leaving.
It felt cold and empty without him here.

🌌🌒

Me and Cole were on the phone together that night until we both drifted off to sleep.

Even though he wasn't there, I slept pretty well knowing I had such a great guy.

Sleeping in, cuddling up to my pillows, dreaming about him.
Until I eventually got up to eat breakfast.

"Good mornin, sleepyhead. You slept in late." My mom said as she saw me walking downstairs.

Yawning "Yeah." Walking into the kitchen, taking a big stretch then looking for something to eat. I didn't feel like cooking but was hungry, so... eh, what we got?

My mom walked past me with the laundry basket while I decided on making an omelette. It'll take awhile but it's worth it. Cole says that all the time.

Thinking about him made smile unconsciously, lightening up my mood.

Taking my time to cut up some peppers, mix them in, cook the eggs, neatly fold it onto a plate then sitting down to eat.

My mom walked around the house, tidying up. It was kind of distracting and annoying, but I just kept eating. Closing my eyes to think about the flavors and memories of the island.
Cole had cooked for me basically every day on the island. He's gotten pretty good at it.

Finishing up my food, I cleaned my plate, putting it on the drying rack.

Headed back up to room, excited to talk to Cole. Even if it was just over the phone.

⛅️

Later that day,

"Peter, can you come over here please?" My mom said, sitting on the couch.

Nervously walking over to her, scared about what she was about to say.

"What's wrong?" I said worriedly.

"We need to talk about something." She said in a serious tone.

Oh no...

"Uh, okay..." I sat down next to her.

"Well- I don't know exactly what to say or... Peter, I've already talked to you father about this and we're worried about something." She said carefully.

Gulping as my anxiety got worse, fidgeting.

"Peter... I found some things in your room... well, I'm glad you have them, but-"

Wh-w-what??? I was really freaking out now.

"Peter... do you have a girlfriend?" She asked suddenly.

"What!?" I said, accidentally out loud.

"Well, I mean. If you do that's okay, but why are you hiding it!? Who is she? Have you- you know done it? You better not get her pregnant!" She said sternly.

"W-what! I- huh?" I was so shocked and confused, no clue what to say.

"Just tell me, I need to know." She said, putting her hand on my knee.

Pulling away from her. "No! No I don't!"

"Sweetie... come on, don't lie to me. I know your hiding something, so who is she?" She said.

"I- umm..." I got up and ran to my room, stumbling and tripping. But I didn't care, I just needed to lock myself in my room. Away from- that.

Girlfriend!? Ha... right.

Panicking, I leaned against my door, sliding down to the floor. What am I supposed to do now? What do I even say to that!? I need Cole...

Rushing over to my bedside table, snatching up my phone. Cole, Cole, Cole...
Ughhh, why is this happening.

—————

{Peter} Cole? I need you. Are you busy?

{Cole} Hey, baby. No I'm not busy. Whatcha need 😉

{Peter} Cole. Not now! This is important. I'm freaking out.

{Cole} Oh. Peter, what happened? Are you okay?

{Peter} I just said I'm freaking out!... please help me.

{Cole} Why are you freaking out? Do you need we to come over? How can I help?

{Peter} Cole... my mom saw some stuff in my room and now thinks I have girlfriend. I- I don't know what to do.
They would never understand, this.

{Cole} It's okay, baby. I'll be right over, you don't need worry.

{Peter} No! Don't come over, what if they think something. Like, figure it out!?

{Cole} I don't think they could ever think that. They're to straight and narrow for that.
Besides, It's not like they would suspect me.

{Peter} Still... I don't know what to do. I'm scared. What if they find out and- hate me or send me away to some conversion camp!?

{Cole} It's okay, baby. Why don't we met up in town? You can get away and I'll buy you ice cream or something. Okay?

{Peter} Okay... I'll try to sneak out.

—————

Grabbing some clothes, I changed, putting my phone in my pocket then slowly made my way out of my room.
Trying to be as quiet and light as possible as I went down the stairs. Listening for anyone, peeking around the corner.
All I have to do is grab my shoes and get out the door. Quick and quietly.

It should be fine. Right?

Tiptoeing over to the door, I grabbed my shoes, not waiting to put them on. Carefully opening the loud door, that made an obvious noise. Of course...

"Peter!?" My mom said, quickly walking over to the front door.

Before she could stop me or say anything, I opened up the door and ran out. Still in my socks as I ran awkwardly down the sidewalk in my broken gait.

Once I got down the block, I stoped to catch my breath. Roughly putting on my shoes then walking into town.

Cole texted me saying to met up at a cafe. I haven't been there before so it took awhile to find it.
A small building beside another equally small restaurant, hidden away in the city.
It's a cute little cafe called "Little Beans"
Not sure why, but I guess it's a nice name.

As I looked down the sidewalk I couldn't find Cole. There were a few people out today, just enough to block my view.

Where is he?... I need a hug.

While I wasn't freaking out as much as earlier, I was still panicking inside. My tears were running down my face while I was at home, then running until I couldn't breath. Now my heart was racing, uncomfortably. Where is he!?

My eyes caught a flash of white. Wha-?

...

Cole.

Our eyes found each other, immediately smiling as I saw him, my heart slowed, fluttering like a fool in love.
He walked towards me, with a cute little grin.
I just stood there staring until he was close enough to hug. Grabbing onto him tightly, burying my face into his chest.

"You okay?" He asked quietly, some people walking past us.

"I am now."

Loosening my grip, looking up at him. He's so handsome, and protective. Whenever I need him, he's right there.
We walked into the cafe, while he gently held my hand.
Glancing around to see if anyone saw, his grip tighten slightly, making me look back at him. Almost as if saying "it's okay."

Smiling at each other, we bought some pastries and tea then sat down together.
Finding a small cozy spot in the corner so we could just enjoy the time with each other.

☕️🍵🥐

"So what happened?" Cole asked, slowing taking a sip of his tea.

"Uh." I sighed. "I just don't know what will happen if I tell them. Let alone come out for everyone else to see." I lowered my head, playing with my food.

Cole gently grabbed my hand, "You don't have to come out. We can just enjoy this." He smiled softly.

"Yeah... but someone will find out eventually." I said, glancing around the room, taking my hand back.

Cole thought for a moment. "What if I come out before you? It is pride month after all."

"Wait, what!? Really?" I whispered.
"Wh-why would you do that?"

He shook his head, grabbing my hand again.
"Peter. I love you. That's all I care about."

Tears started to well up in my eyes, quickly wiping them away before they could fall. "Oh, you idiot. Your making me cry."

He chuckled lightly, "I'm sorry." Putting both of his hands on mine.

"It's okay..." I looked around once more, smiling at a thought. Swiftly getting up and sitting beside him.

"Hi, there." He grinned.

"I love you." I whispered in his ear.

"Then why not announce it? Right here, right now?" He smiled.
"I- mmhm." He started to shout out but I quickly put my hand over his mouth.

"Don't you dare." I tried to say seriously, but more so laughed.

Putting my hands down in my lap, shaking my head at him.

"Mm, what? No one can know?" He asked, grinning.

Nudging him with my elbow, "Shut up, idiot. Just drink your tea."

"Hey, don't call me idiot... I'm your adorable idiot."

He smiled, taking as sip of tea.

Oh, I love him...

"Mm... C-Cole, I need to get back home." I muttered, pushing him away.

"But I thought you didn't wanna go back home?" He pouted.

Sighing, "I know, but I should get back. Or they'll be even angrier ." I said sadly, lower my head.

"Hey." He grabbed my face, looking into my eyes.
"It'll be okay. If you need anything, I'm right there." He smiled.

Taking a deep breath of relief. "Okay."
Giving him a quick kiss then walking back home.

My hands in my pockets, frowning as I stared down at my feet. What's gonna happen when I get back?
Maybe I should run off with Cole.

🚪

Quietly walking in, glancing around then going upstairs.

"Peter!" My mom yelled out. Running up the stairs to my room, really to lock the door.

But- she was there, in my room. Along with my dad.

"Where have you been?" My father said upset, crossing his arms.

"We're you with your girlfriend?" My mom asked, her hands on her hips.

"Wh-what?" I muttered, my hand on my head.

"Well? Answer us!" My father shouted.

"But- I don't have a girlfriend!" I said, technically telling the truth.

"Yeah, right." My mother said, rolling her eyes.

"Wha- but I don't!"

"Don't yell at us!" My father shouted. Ironic...

Lowering my head, keeping my mouth shut.

"Who is she? How long have you been together? Huh!?" My mother asked, crossing her arms.

"I-" Thinking of my words carefully. "I don't have a girlfriend. I never have. I barely even have friends!"

"Then why do you need those? Planning something!?" She asked.

"No. But your the one you said protection is important. So..." I shrugged, not sure what I could even do.

"Fine. But if you ever get in a relationship, you have to tell me immediately." She said sternly, walking out.

My father stepped in front of me. "You need to find a girl. But not just some- girl... you need a great woman, one that you can marry." He said sternly then left.

Closing and locking the door behind them. Falling to my knees, bursting out into tears. Why are they like this?

🌧️🌧️🌧️⛈️🌧️

With no tears left to cry, I went downstairs for dinner.
I would've just stayed in my room and ate until they went to bed, but- I'm trying to get better. I need to eat when my body is hungry. It's important.

They looked at me but didn't say anything. We all sat down at the table, not saying a word.
I tried to eat quickly without being obvious. The tension was heavy right now.

My mom suddenly paused, putting her fork down.
"Peter..."

Looking up at her, confused and worried, mid bite. Just trying to eat my food.
"Hm?"

"Is that a hickey!!" She yelled.

Oh no... fuck.
Mentally hitting myself in the head... Cole. We- ugh, oh no.

"What!?" My father shouted in surprise.

"Oh, so you don't have a girlfriend!? Then why do you have a hickey!?" My mother yelled.

Looking back and forth at them. I was frozen.
Fuck, fuck, fuck...

What do I do??

Before they could do anything, I got up and ran upstairs. Just let me get away from here. Please.

"Peter!" My mother shouted.

"Get your ass back here!" My father yelled.

Hearing loud footsteps behind me, I tripped on the stairs, crawling up as fast as I could. Anything to get away.
Locking the door just before he got there.

"Peter!!! Open this fucking door! This isn't the time for games!" He yelled, banging against the door.

I got away from the door, hiding in my safe spot.
There was a small cubby in my closet hidden behind all my clothes.
I've gotten bigger, so I could barely fit there now. But it was away.
That's all that matters right now.

☁️☁️☁️

Eventually he left, my mother had calmed him down enough to go downstairs and continue to yell.

Getting out of my safe place. The closet ironically...
Looking back at it. It had protected me for so long.

Grabbing some clean clothes I snuck out of my room quietly, across the hall to my bathroom.
Locking the door, ready to take a long, hot shower.

I caught my reflection in the mirror. My eyes were so read in puffy, my nose running so much I could hardly breath.

🌧️🌧️🌧️

Taking my time to relax in the shower.

Maybe it would be better if we were still back on the island. Maybe I fit in better with animals than I do with human...

⛰️ 🌲

Those thoughts of the island called me. They saved me.

The next day,

I slept in late, feeling so tired. So drained.

My phone buzzed.

—————

{Cole} Good morning, Peter. Are you okay?

{Peter} Yeah... Good morning.

{Cole} Do you want to hang out today?

{Peter} I dunno. It's, not a good idea right now.

{Cole} What's wrong? Did something happen with your parents?

Putting up a brave face, I texted him back, trying to hold myself together.

{Peter} Nah, I'm just tired. Love you! ❤️

I shouldn't meantion the hickey...

{Cole} Oh, alright then. I love you too. 💙

—————

Sighing...
I shouldn't tell him.

🌦️

Hearing some muffled voices downstairs the footsteps up to my room.

"Peter? My mom said softly, gently knocking on the door. "Can you unlock the door please? Someone's here for you."

What?...

I got out of bed, reaching for the door handle. Should I even do this? What if she's lying?

She was about o knock again when I opened the door.
"Oh. Peter, uh." She gulped. "Cole's here, he says he need help with his schoolwork."

"Oh... okay."
My mom went back downstairs then Cole came up.

"Hey." He said softly with a small smile.
I quickly grabbed ahold of him.
Hugging him tightly then pulling him into my room.

"Why are you here? How did you even get past my parents?" I asked.

"The door was unlocked." He said sarcastically.

Staring at him, unamused.

"Oh, come ooon. That did make you laugh? Or even smile!?" He pouted.

Shaking my head at him. "But seriously, how did you get in here?"

"Well, it was a lot easier than climbing through your window." He sighed. "Plus all I said was I needed help with an assignment. Since I'm to stupid to do it myself." He shrugged.

"Really?"

"Yep."

"What do you need help with?" I asked, stepping closer. Cole was holding a binder and carrying a book bag.

"Oh, not this." He tossing it aside.

"Wha-" He cut me off, grabbing my face and kissing me.
"Ugh! Cole!" I yelled, pushing him away. "What if they see!?" I whisper yelled at him.

"Don't worry no body's gon-" This time he was cut off, by my mom walking into the room.
We quickly put some space in between us.

"I though you might be hungry sweetie." She said, handing me a plate of cut up fruit.

"Oh, uh. Thanks." I said awkwardly.
She gave me a small smile then left.

"See!" I punched him on his arm.

He shook his head. "It's okay. We have more important things to do today." He smiled, taking a piece of fruit.

"What?" I asked confused.

"You'll see, it's a surprise. But I have to sneak you out first."

Oh... that'll end well.

🌤️

Cole managed to get us both out of the house unnoticed. Holding onto my hand as he pulled me down the sidewalk.

"Where are we going?" I asked annoyedly, out of breath as I tried to keep up with him.
We got closer to a part of the town I hadn't seen yet.

"You ready to see it?" He asked excitedly.

"Uh... I guess." I shrugged.

"I guess? Oh come on. This is gonna be great!" He smiled.

"Okay. What is it then?" I asked. He lead me around the corner to see something amazing.

"Wh-I- whoa..." My eyes were overwhelmed at the sight. So many people, colors, happiness, excitement.

"Pretty cool, huh?" He said with a huge smile.

"Y-yeah, it's amazing!" I said happily.

"I'm glad you like it." He got closer.

"No. I love it."

"More than me?"

"Mmm." Glancing behind him at the view.

"Hey!" He said offended.

"No, baby. I love you more than anything else." Holding each others hands.

"Happy pride month, baby." He kissed my forehead.

The stream was filled with people, all dressed in crazy, colorful outfits. Pride flag everywhere, floats, food stands, games, kids running around... it's just- so much. It's so positive and... comforting.

👩‍👩‍👧‍👦👨‍👨‍👧‍👦

There were so many people! All with colorful clothes, makeup, and flags.
Some kids, some teens, some adults and even some older people.

Everyone was gathered together for this. All to celebrate pride.

I was constantly looking around at everything. So many things caught my eye.
Dragging Cole with me as we walked around.

"Hey, wait." He pulled me over to a photo booth.
"We should take some pictures together!" He smiled.

"Alright." We got a few together. Smiling, laughing, kissing... it felt like we were in a movie or something.

"Oooo. These look so good." I smiled as I look the photos over.

"No, we look good." He smiled, pulling me closer with his arm around me, kissing my temple.

"What's next?" I asked.

"I dunno. Let's go see." We walked together holding our hands, passing by other cute couples.

"This is amazing. Thanks for bringing me here. I needed it." I smiled, nudging him.

"Your welcome, baby." He went in for a kiss.

"Wait. I have an idea." Pulling him up onto some steps where other people were taking photos, kissing, talking and dancing.

Looking into his eyes, I grabbed his face, smashing my lips against his. While his hands grabbed into my waist, holding me close. Kissing each other fast and passionate, forgetting the world around us.

"Woooo!" Some people started to shout next to us, rooting us on.

Pulling away from the kiss, there were a few people around us, dancing and celebrating. For us?

Smiling confusedly as I looked around at them. Wait, but why are they cheering, for us!?

Me and Cole glanced around as they cheered more, other people started kissing their partners, so I grabbed Cole, kissing him again.

Suddenly a pride flag was wrapped around us, I smiled as I grabbed onto it.
With the biggest smile ever I looked at Cole. Both of us together here, at a pride event!? With a rainbow flag wrapped around us...
This-

I- I couldn't have dreamed of something this great.

"I love you, Cole!" I shouted over the rest of the crowd.

"I love you, Peter!" He yelled proudly. We held each other tightly, kissing with passion, wrapped in this beautiful flag.

"Your seriously so amazing." I said quietly to him.

"Really? I'm amazing? What about you!?" He asked.

"Me? But your the one that brought me here. You brighten up my entire day. My entire month even!"

"But- your amazing. So great. I love my little ginger boy." He smiled, our noses touching.

"Your little ginger boy?" I laughed.

"Yep. I have a soft spot for them." He grinned, winking at me.

"Your perfect." I said, closing my eyes, leaning in for another kiss.

🌈🎆🎇✨

We got off the steps walking down the block to wait for the parade floats to go by.

"This is so amaizng. Why is this only one month!" I said, twirling around in the sun, the flag still around my shoulders.
I don't know who gave it to us but no one tried to take it back, so I guess it's mine now.
People here are so sweet and caring. So supportive and understanding.

They were selling and handing out things. Food, flags and people on the floats were throwing out candy, which the kids loved.

I was walking backwards, staring at Cole, holding hands.

"Peter!!??" I heard a voice yell... I know that voice all to well.

"What the fuck are you doing!?" My father yelled.

Oh no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Both of us looked over to see my parents. Both staring in fear, wide eyed, confused... angry.

They started to yell out thing but people got in between us and them.

"Hey, come with me! You'll be safe!" Someone said, taking our hands and quickly leading us away.

A crowd of people blocked off my parents, even cops got involved.
While this guy was leading us away from them.

He lead us to a small building, sitting us down in some chairs.
"Here, you'll be safe here boys." The guy said in a friendly tone, smiling. He looked to around 30 or so.
With another guy standing next to him.

"I'm Albert." He smiled, his hand on his chest.

"And I'm Larry." The other guy said.

"Are you boys okay?" Albert asked worriedly.

"Uh, I- yeah I guess." I muttered nervously.

"Oh, honey. It's okay. I know it's scary when the homophobes come out. Ha, come out." Albert said.

"So what happened?" Larry asked. He was a taller, tougher looking guy while Albert was smaller and sweeter looking.

"Oh- um..." I said nervously, still holding on to Cole hand as we sat next to each other.

"Those we're your parents, weren't they?" Albert asked sweetly, his hand to his mouth.

I nodded, gulping in shock of what happened. So many things, just happened, so quickly.

"It'll be okay boys. Those people aren't allowed here. It's a time for us to celebrate pride, not to get berated!" Larry said angrily, crossing his arms.

"Oh, it's alright honey." Albert reassured him, giving him a hug.

"What is this place?" Cole asked, looking around.

"Oh. Well, it's our restaurant!" Albert smiled, lifting one foot up. "It's called Our Buns. Obviously owned by us and a safe place for everyone... well, almost everyone." He said, looking at Larry.

"Nice." Cole said.

"Aww, thank you." Albert said, his hand up to his chest. He was definitely expressive.

"And uh, thanks for getting us away from that." I said shyly.

"Oh, honey." Albert said walking closer. "Do you need a hug? If you don't like them that's okay!"

"No. That's okay. I could use one." I said, standing up to hug him.

"Awww, I'm sorry this happened. Was this your first pride, honey?" He asked, still hugging me.

"Uh, yeah."

"Ooooh, sweetie. We'll make this the best pride for you then!" He said, rubbing my back.

"Us." Cole smiled, joining the hug.

"Oooh, yes! Both of you. Larry, you too! Come on, group hug!" Albert said happily.

The four of us hugged each other, stay there for a good minute or so.
Then letting go.

"Aww, look at you two. So cute together!" Albert said sweetly, covering his mouth as he tried to contain his happiness.

"Larry, we should show them around and we ca-" Albert said excitedly, holding onto Larry's arm, with one foot up.

"Okay, okay. We will." Larry smiled, kissing Alberts forehead.

Cole turned to me, with a gentle smile. Brushing his hand against my face. "I love you." He said then kissed me.
