Cindy's pov
*~*~*~*~*
Things have been so hectic recently. I don't even know what's happened to my life.
There was the whole thing with Mr. Driscal, him coming over to the house, threatening us and wanting Peter back. Then his rage over took him, he tried too- he would have- he- well, he could have even killed Cole.
The fight was more of a beating. Cole was badly injured that night. I'm just glad he survived yet another horrible ordeal. My poor baby boy has been though so much. At least him and Peter have each other. I don't know where they'd be without each other.
I mean, just think about it. Cole hurting Peter is what started all of this. Cole got sent to the island, attacked by the spirit bear, was given one last chance then even Peter went to the island. 2 years later, here we are. Finally somewhere good.
If none of that had happened, then I could have still been in a horrible, loveless marriage and Cole would be in jail.
"Cindy!"
"Huh?" I mumbled, not realizing how zoned out I was.
"Uh, you were completely out of it. Again. Were you overthinking?" William asked.
"Uh, wh-what no!" I said, waving my hand down.
He stared at my blankly, his eyebrows raised.
"Okay. Maybe. Just a bit." I said, quickly taking a sip of my drink.
Me and William were eating lunch at the hospital, since I didn't want to be to far from Cole.
The food was good enough to get down, but it was still hospital food.
"Cole's stable now, you don't need to be here everyday, by his side." William said.
I frowned, tilting my head, "He's my son. I care about him. Of course I'm gong to worry!"
"Your not helping yourself though. You'll probably end up in the hospital with him if you don't relax." He said.
I looked down, poking at my food. I hate to say it, but he was right.
"I guess it would be nice to have a self care day, get away from the hospital and all the other stress for awhile." I said, thinking about all of the things I could finally do for myself.
"How's your job been? Are things going well?" William blurted out.
"Yeah, things have been alright. It may not be the most fun or exciting, but I like working. Having something to do. What about you?" I said.
"Eh, kinda boring to be honest. I've been doing the same job for years now. It gets tiring after awhile." He said sullenly.
"Maybe you should quit, run away to an island!" I said positively.
He chuckled, shaking his head. "Oh, maybe one day." Then he looked back up at me, his expression softening.

Why was she so beautiful? Why did I never notice? Or why had I forgotten? She deserved better than all of those miserable years. I ruined her and Cole's lives. Yet, some how, they still made it out and found happiness.
Why couldn't I?
We're not kids anymore, she barely gets along with me, let alone want to be with me. It's foolish to think we could ever be together again.
"Oh, um, William?" She said quietly.
"Yeah?"
"Thanks again, for being over there that night." She said. Looking up at me with her gorgeous eyes.
"Your welcome." I softly smiled.
"But I am curious to how and why you were in the area. And at that exact time." She said.
"I guess things happen for I reason." I awkwardly laughed.
Maybe I shouldn't tell her. But- ugh!!! What am I supposed to do!?
It's not like we're supposed to be together, we got divorced. That should be the end of it.
~
"Mr. Mathews?" A nurse asked, walking up to me.
"Yes?"
"Your son is awake now, ou can go see him if you want."
"Okay, thank you." I said then walked to Cole's room.
"Cole?" I said, seeing him say up and wake after so many days.
"Oh, hey dad." He smiled, waving.
"How are you feeling?" I asked, going up to the side of his bed.
"Uh, kinda sore." He laughed.
I gently placed my hand on his shoulder, looking at him. Then hugged him.
"Your mom has been worried sick. I thought she was about to end up in the hospital from stress." I said jokingly to lighten the mood. I didn't really know how to act around Cole. Trying to be a father again was hard to do. Especially with a teenager.
"Hm, I'm sure she'll be happy to see me. How's Peter?" He asked.
I paused for a second, "Uh, I don't know. Sorry."
"It's alright. Can you go get me some food or something? I really just want to eat and get out of this bed." He said.
"Come on, let's get you something then." I said happily.
~
Okay...I can't just- But I got it for her... She- she'll like it right? This is a bad idea. Ugh, I shouldn't even be here.
Not being able to focus on work or keep my mind off her. But I finally caved in and went over to see her again.
Knocking on the door,
"What are you doing here William?" She asked curiously.
"I was around and kind of bored. So I thought it would be okay to come over. Is that okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, you can come in." She said. "So what's your excuse for being here now?" She said sarcastically.
"Ha, Wh-what? Come on, I don't need a reason to be here." I said nervously.
"It's alright, I don't mind to much. I've enjoyed our talks. I mean, I have some friends now, but- it's just different talking to you." She said, grabbing a drink.
"Well, we've known each other for a long time. It's good for both of us and Cole." I said as I sat at the kitchen island.
"Yeah." She said looking up at me, smiling softly.
For some reason, I just wanted to be around her. All of the time. It felt like there was a magnet pulling me towards her. Even when we weren't around each other, miles away, my body was drawn to her. Something inside me just wanted to go find her, be around her.
Maybe I should ask her on a...date? No, not a date. Just like a hangout think. Like friends. That's all.
"Um, hey, uh, do you think if would be fun to try a new restaurant? Y'a know, since there's a few new ones now. I haven't tried any of them yet, what about you?" I asked.
"I've actually been wanting to go check them out!" She said excitedly, almost jumping around.
"I haven't been to any of them. That would be so fun to go see what they're like. Maybe I'll find a new restaurant I like."
"So do you want to go somewhere?" I asked.
"Uh, yes!" She said excitedly. "I know exactly the place I want to go. Let me get ready!" She said, running off.
Uh, how long is it gonna take her to get ready?
"Wait! What do you mean get ready?"
"It'll just take a minute!" She yelled out.
Yeah, right. A "minute".
By the time I got up, off the chair. She was already running towards the door. How did she do that so fast?
"Ah, I'm so excited. I've heard this place is good." She said happily, putting on her shoes.
"Alright, then. You can calm down, just a bit at east." I said jokingly.
"Whaaat, I'm hungry." She said, quickly walking out the door.
We drove over to a restaurant she was really excited about and went in. It was honestly really cute how happy she was.
Getting our food, talking together and enjoying the moment.
I want to keep having these moments with her.
Back at the house,
"Thanks for that, William. Now we both know a new restaurant we like. Ooo, we should do this again tomorrow!" She said, as we walked back inside the house.
"Uh, maybe. Maybe we could make it a a weekly thing. Try out something new every week." I said.
"Sounds good to me." She smiled.
Both of us paused, just standing a few feet away from the door, not making eye contact. That magnet feeling came back.
Was she feeling that too?
"Uh, I should probably get going, get back home." I said to fill the awkward tension.
"Yeah." She said kind of disappointed. "I'll see you around."
"Yeah." I said sadly, trying to hide that I wanted to stay. It just felt wrong to leave.
But we're not meant to be together.
Opening the door, pausing before I stepped out, to go back to my own house. It was a nice place, but it just wasn't home.
Cindy mumbled something under her breath, then quickly grabbed me.
Wha-?
Her lips crashed again mine. It was unexpected, but I'm not complaining. She held my head firmly, her lips soft, and she kissed me passionately.
I gently grabbed her waist, kissing her back slowly and with passion.
She pulled away, only a few inches away from my face. Her beautiful, big eyes looking up at me.
We lovingly gazed at each other then I kissed her forehead gently.

*(I realized something, this ship has been moving to fast, but I was just excited. I had a hard time trying to figure out what to write about them, but this will do for now.
Also I have a hard time remembering what I've written in this book already.)*
