Some people actually sent me this question and it actually took me a while to answer it. Not because it is a hard question. It is quite straight forward actually but I find that this question is rather similar to "why do you help people?". 

The answer is, "why not? It brings me joy."

I love interacting with readers, talking to them about stuff, and teasing them when they make theories/assumptions. 

The other reason why I reply to comments is that I remember that day (years ago) when an author actually replied to my comment. The euphoric feeling of being noticed/recognized stays with me long even after that and it doubles the enjoyment of reading the book. I wish the same for my readers. 

But above all else, I am extremely grateful someone even read my book. While putting my book to their reading list is more like a "promise", actually commenting/voting the chapter shows that they actually read my book. It's hard for me to believe that people actually read my book so it's a very exciting surprise that I am so so grateful for! 

Dang, this is indeed a long answer for a simple question.
