Bed Time And Questions
Author's Note: Hey everyone this is the first official chapter to this new story. I hope you enjoy it and please let me know what you think as feedback is always helpful.
Evie just looked at the brunette version of herself in complete shock as she didn't even know this girl very well and she had just called her out.
"How long I've had her for doesn't matter. What matters is that you people just broke into my dorm!" Evie told the others defensively as she didn't like the way Lola had been talking to her when she was the one that broke into Evie's home.
"Whoa okay no need for the attitude. I was just saying you're calling us strangers, so I was curious how long you've actually known her for," Lola told Evie as she wasn't used to this teenage version of her sister.
"Right sorry I'm just kinda stressing out right now. I'm sorry today just really hasn't been the best of days. And I'm still kinda freaking out. I mean someone I thought was like around my age is actually my toddler sister and now I'm kinda stuck raising her right now. Well not stuck I want this it's just like I'm only 16 and I have no baby stuff right now and," Evie rambled out making the 4 older girls stare at her in shock.
They had always seen Evie as so calm and collected and she always seemed so prepared. This Evie however was completely frantic and clearly wasn't prepared at all.
"It's okay we're sorry for just barging in. If it helps we could just stay here and you can take Mal to get some food, so no one has to know we're here," Tessa told Evie who just looked at the toddler that was crying because she was still hungry.
"Okay yeah I can do that and then afterwards when we get back I'll put her to bed and we can discuss what to do next okay," Evie told the others as she went and picked Mal up then left the room.
"Okay so we're seriously in like some weird past world where we're in Evie's past but we're still the same age and we can actually interact with her and Mal," Ava told the others once Evie had left with Mal to get some food.
"Yeah it seems like it. I just don't understand how this could have happened?" April told the others who nodded.
"We should probably figure out a way to get home or we should at least figure out how we got here," Tessa told the others who were about to say something else when the door opened, making them quickly try to run and hide when they saw it was Fairy Godmother.
"Oh my I must be really exhausted because I think I'm seeing things," Fairy Godmother told herself as she looked at the four young adults in the room. As she placed the box of old baby clothes she found from Jane down and wheeled in the crib that she was letting Evie borrow as well.
Fairy Godmother was planning on talking to Evie, but after seeing what she saw she felt it was best to just drop off the things and leave which is exactly what she did.
Once the fairy had left the four young adults continued with their conversation again. "Okay that was weird anyway back to what we were saying before," Ava told the others who were about to join back in when the door opened again.
This time it was just an exhausted looking Evie with the hyper toddler who was rambling on about random things.
"Oh you're still here," Evie told the others a little in surprise as she had been certain that once she left they would have left as well, but they were all still there in the dorm.
"Ebie! Why be smaw!" The young toddler asked Evie, making her look over and see what the small girl was pointing at.
"Oh you mean the crib. No Mal, your bed isn't smaller, that's just a new bed. It's called a crib. And that's where you're going to sleep for a bit," Evie told the small toddler who just looked at the crib unsurely.
"It scawy. An it no pupwel. I no wanna sweep dere no make me sweep dere pwese," Mal told her older sister as she continued to point at the strange new bed with bars that she was being forced to sleep in.
"Aw it's okay. Cribs are awesome dude, you're gonna love it," Lola told the small girl trying to help, but Mal just started crying more as she ran to Evie and buried her face in Evie's shirt.
"Aw Mal, it's okay. She's not scary, she's just trying to help. And it's true you're gonna love it. You have to sleep in there now because it's safe. You're too small for your old bed," Evie told the two year old in her gentle voice trying to calm her down.
"Yeah and if you can sleep in the crib then we'll get you anything you want," Ava joined in as she could tell Evie was struggling to get Mal to use the crib for the first time. "Wewly? Otay I sweep in dat! I wan oys! Wots ob dem!" The small toddler squealed out as she began to jump up and down in excitement at the thought of having lots and lots of new toys to play with.
"Okay we'll get you lots of new toys to play with, but you have to promise to use the crib," Evie told the toddler as she knew the others were trying to help, but she also knew that Mal wasn't used to them yet and it was best for her to still be in charge.
"Otay I will!" The young girl told Evie who just laughed a little at the hyper and excited toddler as she went to the box of baby clothes and began to look through it. "You need some help?" Evie heard making her jump back a little as she had been startled. "Oh um yeah actually. This is kinda embarrassing, but do you know how diapers work?" Evie asked her sister, making April laugh a little as she found it cute seeing Evie so confused on parenting stuff.
And she was enjoying getting to be the one that helps Evie out for once instead of it being the opposite like it normally is. "Yeah I actually used to help out with my old dance teacher's daughter when she was around Mal's age, so yeah I definitely know how diapers work," April playfully told Evie who just nodded as she held up a diaper.
"Okay then can you help me because I just remembered that she's not potty trained yet and I honestly have no clue how to put a diaper on her. I know it's embarrassing," Evie rambled out causing April to hold back another laugh as she nodded.
"Yeah I can help you and it's not embarrassing. You've never done this before," April told Evie who smiled as she found a cute purple onesie that she knew would be a little big, but it was all she had for now. "Okay great and thank you. Anyway I'm going to give her a bath and then I'm going to need you to help me. If that's okay," Evie told her sister who smiled again.
"Yeah that works. Do you need help with the bath?" April asked Evie who shook her head no as she was liking the help, but she still wanted to prove that she could handle this herself as well otherwise Fairy Godmother would be right and Evie didn't want that.
"No it's okay I can handle it thanks though um..." Evie told April, making her laugh. "April," April told Evie who nodded. "Got it anyway I'll be back," Evie told her sister as she got up and went over to find the toddler.
Evie couldn't help but smile when she found Mal cuddled up with the other three while they were watching tv. "Well I guess she's not afraid anymore," Evie jokingly told the others, making them look up as they had been distracted with the show.
"I'm taking that as a yes. Alright well Mal I know you're enjoying your tv time, but it's bath and then bed time," Evie told the toddler who shook her head no as she clung onto Lola. "No wew hew!" The small toddler cried out as she clung onto Lola making Lola smile as she had to admit she missed being the person Mal would run to when she was scared or didn't want to do something.
"Mal you have to. It's okay we can watch tv together in the morning," Tessa told the small girl trying to help get Mal to listen to Evie. "No! No wanna baf. An no wanna sweep. I wan tebe. I no sweepy!" Mal cried out as she clung tighter to Lola.
"Ugh Mal you have to! It's late!" Evie practically screamed out as she grabbed the screaming and kicking toddler from Lola. Evie was exhausted and just wanted to get Mal clean and in bed, so she could relax and get some answers as to who these random people were that were now in her dorm.
"No! No! No! No baf! No sweep! No! No! No!" The young purple haired girl wailed out as she kicked and screamed in Evie's arms. "Mal you have to and I'm not giving in. It's bath and bedtime," Evie told the toddler as she continued to walk with her to the bathroom.
Finally after almost an hour of Evie struggling to get Mal to cooperate Evie finally managed to get Mal bathed. "Cowd! Cowd! Cowd! Ebie! Cowd!" Mal cried out as she began to shiver once Evie had finished bathing her and had drained out the water leaving her freezing.
"I know Mal. I'm sorry. Here we go let's get you dried up with this towel and then I'll be right back," Evie told the young girl as she quickly wrapped her up in a towel and then ran to get April as she still needed help with figuring out how to use a diaper.
Evie could try it on her own, but Mal was freezing and she had the help with her might as well take advantage of it. "Okay April I really need help now," Evie told April who laughed as she nodded and followed Evie.
"Okay so first you have to lay her down and then you just lift up and slide the diaper under. And then you just strap on the sides and there you go. It's a little more complicated though when changing a dirty one as you have to remember to wipe from front to back, but other than that you're good," April told Evie as she helped her get the diaper on Mal.
"Oh my gosh thank you so much and yeah that does seem easy. Okay Mal now that you're all cleaned up and changed let's get you into bed," Evie told her two sisters as she picked Mal up and brought her out of the bathroom.
Evie then tried to place Mal in the crib, but the small girl just stared at the crib in fear. She didn't want to sleep in it. It was even more scary up close. Mal began to cry as she held on tighter to Evie. "Scawy! I no wanna sweep dere. I no wike da!" Mal cried out as she pointed to the bars on the crib. Evie just sighed as she began to bounce the toddler a bit as she tried to soothe her.
Before Evie could say anything though Ava came over as she looked at Evie and the sobbing toddler. "Aw Mal it's okay I know the crib looks scary, but it's really not. It's meant to protect you and keep you safe," Ava told the small girl who just looked back at Evie.
"Ebie You pomise cwib sabe?" Mal asked Evie with her puppy dog eyes as she was starting to trust the others, but Evie was still the only one she trusted the most. Evie just smiled as she looked at the tiny toddler.
"Yes Mal I promise. The crib is safe. Just think of it as your own safe box that no one can get past. The only people who can get to you in your crib are the people in the room right now that you trust and then Jay and Carlos. I promise Mal this crib is safe. So you ready to give it a chance," Evie told the the frightened toddler in a calm and gentle voice as she was trying to soothe her and convince her to sleep in the crib again as she was still afraid to sleep in the crib and Evie wouldn't feel comfortable with putting Mal in a bed that would be way too big for her.
Evie smiled when Mal nodded as Evie quickly placed Mal down into the crib. Mal smiled as she grabbed onto the side and began to bounce up and down just getting a feel for her new crib. "Wee I wub dis," Mal screamed as she was enjoying bouncing around and playing in her new crib. Evie and the others laughed at the hyper girl as they found it adorable and were enjoying seeing her so happy.
"Okay Mal that's enough. It's time to sleep for real now and I don't want to see you bouncing in the crib anymore. The crib isn't made for bouncing it's made for sleeping," Evie told the bouncing girl after letting her jump around for a few minutes. Evie was surprised when Mal didn't object to going to sleep as she nodded her tiny head.
"Otay I sweepy now. Nigh Nigh! I wob you," Mal told Evie and the others as she stopped bouncing and started to lay down in the crib. Evie smiled back at her sister. "Night Mal I love you too," she told the toddler as she tucked her in and kissed her on the forehead. She smiled when a few seconds later Mal was out as she clung to the covers.
Once Evie knew that Mal was out she went over to the other four who were still there, but had chosen to stay out of Evie's way for bedtime. "Okay she's asleep, so let's start with what do we do now," Evie asked the others as she finally had time to actually talk with the other girls in her room and now she wanted answers.
