The Ring

As we walk, I look at Reaper, hiding under his black cloak. I'm reminded of happier times, the one hundred years of peace.

During that time, we used to date. I still remember... No. This isn't right, I shouldn't be telling you this. This is to personal. Just skip this chapter.

...

OK, I'll tell you. It was just before The Cleansing. I had bought a blessed gold ring. Why? Well... How do I put this? I was about to purpose to him. With the story over, it seemed like the right time.

Just as I was about to pop the question, he revealed he would be hanging out with Reaper Classic and told me he'd be back... But he never came back. For it was mere hours later that The Cleansing began. There was no escape, and I was the first of many to fall. Reaper was not far behind.

After we died, he immediately broke up with me. Blaming himself and deciding to focus on only training. I never even got the chance to ask.

I still have that ring. I have it in a small black box. I take the box from my pocket and examine the ring. It's in pristine condition, never worn once. I look back at Reaper. If I can convince him to move on, then maybe things will work out better. Otherwise...

I clutch my knife. I know it may come to that, but...

I hold the box again. I really hope it doesn't...
