"Are you almost ready?" Lucy asked Quince dryly as my best friend raced around her room, gathering her stuff and stuffing them into her purse.
"I think.." Quince trailed off and had a thinking expression on her face. "I got my phone, got my wallet, got my keys."
"Then you're set and ready to go?" I asked her, raising an eyebrow.
Quince turns to me, a slight playful glare upon her face. She wasn't a pale girl, but she was no tanned barbie either. She had long brown hair and dark green eyes, like a dark green and lush forest. "I guess I am."
"Great!" Lucy kissed Quince's cheek, causing the girl to blush and mumble something incoherent.
"Cute," I tease, smiling at them.
"Quiet, Faye. A kiss on the cheek is very innocent compared to the things you do with Jackson." Lucy smirks, crossing her arms.
My face heated up and I had the urge to smash her right over the head with something big. "I have no idea what you're talking about," I lied, turning away from her and giving Jackson a pleading look. He just shrugs, grinning at me, as if to say, she's right you know.
I resisted the big bubble of urge to kick Lucy and Jackson's asses right here. Instead, I would resort to using the silent treatment on both of them whether it was mature or not. I give them a sweet smile and turn to Quince.
"Quince, darling, to me a favor." I blink.
Quince raised an eyebrow slowly, sharing an odd glance with Lucy. "Okay..sure.."
"Please tell Jackson and Lucille I won't be talking to them for the rest of the day," I say sweetly, turning around and walking towards the elevator and leaving them to process my words.
--
"Faye," whines Jackson for the third time since we entered the elevator. "C'mon. Talk to me!"
A smile tugged my lips and I almost gave in and did talk to him, but I immediately shook my head in order to get such a ridiculous thought out of my head. I promised myself! No way in Hell am I breaking that promise.
"Faye," Lucy also whined, putting her chin on my shoulder from behind me. "Please talk to us! I'm sorry!"
I turn my nose in the air like a snotty person would, smiling the whole time and trying not to laugh. I peeked at Quince and Amanda, both looking quite amused, and then closed my eye again.
"Quince please tell them I will not give in to their begging," I said in a posh tone, crossing my arms and continuing to stick my nose in the air.
"Faye said that-"
"We got the message," Jackson said, running his head through his hair. "Faye you're impossible."
"Quince tell him I know that."
"Um, what Faye said." Quince tapped her fingers on the elevator's railing awkwardly.
Soon, the elevator got to the first floor and we all piled out of it and made a beeline for the doors of the hotel.
"Where are we going first?" Amanda asked from beside me, fiddling with something around her neck. I look at it out of the corner of my eye and notice that it's a small diamond encrusted cross hanging from a silver chain. I studied it for a moment more, before looking forward.
"I think somewhere to eat first," I said, grabbing my phone from my purse. "Quince please ask Jackson and Lucy if they're hungry."
"We are," they say at the same time, making me chuckle and shake my head.
"They are," Quince repeated for them, sounding slightly irritated.
"Let's go then!" I smile cheerfully and skip to the lobby doors.
"She's lost her mind," I heard Lucy mutter as I skipped.
"Just now figuring it out?" Jackson asked, amusement in his tone.
I heard a grunt come from Jackson and Lucy say, "No I've known. Just thought I'd say it out loud and let everyone else know so they can watch out for her."
"I call driving!" I yell to Quince and Amanda. "Tell Lucy and Jackson I got dibs!"
"Faye says-"
"We know," Jackson told her before Quince could say anymore. Quince shrugged her shoulders and skipped on along.
"Why are we touring the city if we've lived here our whole life?" Amanda asked me as we hopped into the car.
"Because," I chirp, beginning to drive, "someone, I won't mention his name, hasn't ever been here before so we're gonna show him around."
"Oh." Amanda shrugs. "That makes sense."
"No it doesn't," Jackson muttered from the back seat, sounding pouty and like a child who didn't get the toy they wanted from the store. "Faye's just stubborn and won't listen to me."
"Let's listen to music!" I cry and turn on the radio station.
Lucy sighed. "This is going to be a very long day."
"You're telling me," Jackson said to her. "I wish she were not so stubborn."
"You should've thought long and hard about the setbacks of marrying Faye," Lucy told him loudly, making me flame with annoyance.
"Setbacks?"
"Well for one," Lucy starts, making me bite my lip so I don't go back their and beat the shit out of her, "she's stubborn like you said."
"Right," Jackson replied slowly, sounding very unsure at the moment.
"I'm not done," Lucy said even louder. I glanced up in the rear view mirror and saw she had her brainstorming face. Never good. "She's also quite weird, you know. We used to have sleepovers all the time, and in the morning I would wake up to hear her singing in the shower."
"I wake up to that sometimes, too."
"Wait, wait." Lucy held up her hand, closing her eyes for a moment. "She also likes to hit people with butter knives."
"That's it!" I slam my foot on the pedal, making everyone jerk forward and yell out in surprise. I turn and give Lucy my worst death glare that scares even here. "Screw this not talking to you. Instead I'm going to beat the ever-loving shit out of you!"
Lucy's eyes widen and she screamed loudly, clawing her way towards the trunk. "Run!"
"Why is she freaking out?" Jackson pointed to a frantic Lucy with his thumb.
"Because she's extremely violent and mean when she's this irritated! Never ever get her to the point where she has that expression!" Lucy yelled falling into the trunk with a loud 'thunk.'
"Then why did you do that?" Quince demands, whirling around as well. "If you knew she would be like this?"
"I thought she would just give us an irritated look and throw something at us," Lucy whines, peeking up the seats. "Not give us her, 'I will kill you in your sleep' look!"
Quince rolled her eyes at me and said, "Baby."
"Baby indeed." I wink at Lucy who glowered at me and gets back in her seat.
"Gave me a heart attack for a moment," Lucy mutters.
"Good." I grin and continue driving.
