"Hey." I felt fingers brush my face, but I keep my eyes still closed. I felt the bed dip and a gentle shake to my shoulder. "Faye, love, time to wake up."
I moan in protest, scooting the farthest away possible from him and pulling the covers over my head.
"Come on, love," I heard again, another hand being placed on my shoulder. I scowl and ignore the hand and the pesters. I didn't want to get out of the warmth and comfort of my bed. "We're going out today remember?"
I continued to ignore him, urging myself to go back to the beautiful sleep I was in before I was so rudely awoken from them. I began to count sheep, which I always do when I have trouble getting to sleep.
"That's it," he said, sounding annoyed.
The covers were ripped off of me, leaving me exposed in my sweats and tank top. I shoot up, prepared to beat the crap out of whoever dare take my covers from me.
"You!" I pointed to Jackson who had the covers at his feet, arms crossed, and staring at me with challenge. "You give me those back right now!"
"I won't," he retorted, twirling his keys in his hands impatiently as he glared at me. "Get up now, Faye."
"I am up thanks to you," I snarl at him, fuming as I storm past him and grab my suitcase. I slam the bathroom door shut and set my suitcase on the toilet seat to get out clothes I'll be wearing for today.
I pick out my outfit and set it on the sink counter before pulling out my shampoo and conditioner and taking my shower.
I let myself collect my thoughts in the shower. Last night Jackson and I had our fight, which still made me wince when I think about it, and then we made up and decided to have some hot chocolate and watch a cheesy movie before going to bed. We ended the day on pretty good terms, but the fight still had me shaken up.
Also, there was the whole Slayers thing to get organized. I dreaded having to do that, but that wasn't going to be today or tomorrow. We all agreed that we would take two days to get settled in and have a little tiny bit of fun before going and snooping around Lucy and Amanda's parents personal Slayer files.
I turn the water off, squeezing any extra water out of my air and drying my body with a towel. I wrap it tightly around myself and step out of the shower and make my way across the bathroom to the sink. I dry my hair and pull it up in a quick bun and get dressed. Today I decided on a long sleeved black and green plaid button up shirt that was warm and comfortable, comfy skinny jeans, black combat boots (of course), a cotton soft black scarf, a matching watch, and a Christmas tree necklace.
I then let my hair fall out of my bun into it's natural wavy style and grabbed two strands of my hair on the front of my face and braided them and added a couple green beads to them for decoration.
I clean my face, brush my teeth, and add some eyeliner on around my eyes before cleaning up my stuff and walking out of the bathroom.
"You're ready!" Lucy cheers after I put my suitcase in my bedroom and walk out into the living room.
"Yeah," I said dryly, "I am. Even though I could be very nice and warm in my bed sleeping." I give Jackson a pointed glare.
Jackson threw his hands up, eyebrows shooting up as well. "Lucy threatened me, Faye. I wasn't about to get my foot shoved up my ass."
I turn to Lucy, arms crossed. She shrugged. "Okay, so I may have threatened him a little bit."
"We need to work on your nicer personality."
She gave me a 'really?' look, eyebrow raised. "You seriously think that I will become a nicer person just because you give me lessons?"
"It wouldn't hurt to try," I told her, walking over to the couch and snatching my gloves and coat up. I slip my coat on first, which was a black pea coat, and buttoned it up over my plaid button up. "I mean, one day you might need the nice qualities."
"For what?" she demands, scrunching up her nose with distaste.
"Meeting Quince's family for example," I said in a plain voice, glancing out of the corner of my eye to see her reaction. She looked like she lost more than a pint of blood the way she just paled.
"Please don't bring that up," she told me, sounding and looking a bit queasy. "That's a subject I would rather not approach."
"You've met her parents haven't you?" Amanda asked Lucy, blinking.
"Well, yeah, but her whole family wants to meet me." Lucy grimaced, a flash of fear going across her face. "Quince told me they uh..like to go overboard with welcoming a new member of the family."
"A new member of the family?" Amanda's lip twitched into a smile.
"They're big on new people," I told Amanda. "Quince's family doesn't judge anyone based on their religion, race, or sexuality, which I highly respect about them. They're very open minded about people and will welcome you as if they knew you forever."
"And that's bad?" Amanda asked Lucy.
"It's not the part that I'm dating another girl that's freaking me out," Lucy muttered, picking at some string. "It's the fact that her family is big, I was a Slayer, and that they actually want to meet me."
Jackson snorted. "I think you're more worried about them not liking you then them trying to kill you. And you're worried that they won't like you not because you were a Slayer, but because you're not like them. Preppy, happy, loud."
Lucy glared at Jackson, whereas Amanda and I stare at him.
"Since when did you become a therapist?" I ask him suspiciously, sort of surprised that Jackson had said that.
Jackson grins. "It's a Jackson thing, love."
"You are impossible."
"Ah, yes, but that's why I'm so irresistible."
"We should get going," Lucy said, looking at her watch. "We need to get Quince on our way out of the hotel."
"Why again isn't she sharing a room with us?" Amanda asks, pulling her hair from under her bag strap.
"According to her we could use the 'sister bonding time'," Lucy said, using air quotes and rolling her eyes. "Just like Quince."
I follow them out, leaving Jackson to trail behind us. I say, "You know, Luce, you could give Quince some credit. I actually thought it was a great idea for her to pick a separate room."
She glares at me over her shoulder, but not in a bad way. Her black hair was in a braid today, and she wore jeans, converse, and a really cute sweater. She had a coat and gloves over the outfit, though. "You, Faye, should be quiet."
I smirk. "I might tell Quince about our conversation at the airport."
"Don't you dare!"
We all laugh, leaving Lucy to fume and brood.
