I zipped up the backpack and set it beside the suitcase Jackson and I were sharing.
"I still don't understand why you feel the need to do this," he told me, sighing. "If Leto finds it bad then I'm assuming it's not good."
"Leave her out of this," I snap at him. "She won't come and that's that. She's made it quite clear."
"Faye." He puts his hands on my shoulders but I shrug him off and move away to grab three stacks of money I've been saving. I stuff them at the bottom of my backpack and jiggle the zipper until the backpack zips shut.
"Forget it," I said to him, grabbing my keys and swinging the backpack over my shoulder. "Let's just go before my parents get back, okay?"
He sighed again, picking up the suitcase anyways and following me. He turned off the light and shut his door as he went.
I walk through the dark living room to the kitchen and switch on the light, setting my keys and phone down on the counter. I let my backpack slide down by the table and walk over to the refrigerator. I open the door and scan through the shelves, eyes narrowed.
I find what I'm looking for. I grab a water bottle and shut the door behind me, walking to the other side of the room to by the pantry. I open a jar and pull out a vitamins pack and shake it up before ripping it open aggressively and pouring it in the water bottle. I shake it up and set it on the table.
"Faye." Jackson was brewing coffee, leaning against the counter and watching me.
"What?" I ask, glancing at the clock on the stove. It read 3:30. It was at two in the morning we woke up, and we decided we'd all, including Quince, Lucy, and Amanda, would meet at the hotel and go from there at four.
"I know you're frustrated and confused," he says, his voice even and gentle, "but don't make rash decisions."
"I'm not making rash decisions," I reply sharply, glaring out the window.
"You haven't talked to Leto in three days."
"We had a fight," I said blankly. "That's what happens. You stop talking for a while."
"Yeah, but the affect of it is hurting you."
"I'm fine," I told him, though I wasn't fooling anyone. Not even myself. I haven't slept but an hour each night ever since our fight. I've kept Leto blocked out and she's kept me blocked out. It's hard enough to keep my whole Hover from intruding on my thoughts, but now I'm having to block Leto as well, and it's making me depressed.
"Can't you just make up with her?" he asked quietly, pouring his coffee into a cup.
"No." I took a sip from my drink. "We both need time to think."
"No," he said slowly, "you just don't want to be the one to apologize."
I glared at him coolly. "That's not it at all, Jackson."
"Really?" he retorts, raising his eyebrows. "Then why haven't you apologized?"
I looked away. "Like I said, we need time to think."
"You two are supposed to fight together, not against each other," Jackson murmured, walking towards me and rubbing my arms.
I didn't move away, but instead glared out the window again. "A fight won't separate us, Jackson."
"Maybe not," he agreed, "but dropping it like you did doesn't exactly help, either, love."
"What are you wanting me to do?" I asked, my arms crossing.
"To talk to her." He moved so he was facing me, looking straight into my eyes. "I'm not asking you to make things all butterflies and rainbows. All I'm asking is that you guys work this out. Forgive and forget."
I bit my lip as I rolled the idea around in my head. It's depressing me to not talk to Leto, but at the same time my pride is getting in my way far too much. It's annoying, because it's winning. If I let myself apologize to Leto first, I'll feel humiliated, and she'll be all 'I told you so'.
Or maybe she won't. I thought. Leto doesn't point out ones wrongs. Unless she's in battle.
I sighed, relenting to my good side. "Fine. I'll go and apologize."
Jackson grinned. "Good! It's really awkward when you two fight."
"I'll be back." I roll my eyes.
------
"Leto?" I shuffle through the darkness, narrowing my eyes. I had a flashlight in hand, but I still couldn't see. I had opened my mind to her, and I could feel her very faintly which meant she was near. And her guard was down.
That scared me.
"Leto?"
I heard a large snap and I whirl around, aiming the light towards the source of the sound. My hands shook.
Don't be scared. It's probably a field mouse or a fox, maybe even a coyote. I reassured myself, chewing on my bottom lip.
After scanning the area a few more times, I turn back forward.
A growl sounded above me, and I jumped yelling loudly. I dropped the flashlight, running towards the house. I couldn't see anything, not even my own feet in front of me.
I heard the flap of wings behind me. Dragons are good, here, right? What if its-
My thoughts are cut off when something forcefully shoves me forward, wind maybe. I yell out and struggle to get up, but a large talon wraps around me and lifts me up.
I held back a scream as I flew in the air. I glance around, then I catch a glimpse of white.
I snap my head up and see..yup that's Leto.
I groan with relief as she loosens her grip and shrugs her foot up towards her shoulder. I carefully, gripping her foot, edge my way onto her scaled back and leaning forward. She spreads her wings and shoots straight up.
"You scared the living hell out of me!" I yell once I feel her open the connection.
"That wasn't exactly my plan." She bursts through the clouds and flies rapidly around the sky. "You were running away."
"Because you were chasing me." I wrap my arms around her neck as she jerks forward and speeds through the clouds. "It could've been a blood-thirsty dragon for all I knew."
She swung her head back and looked at me, a glint in her eyes. "Why do you think I captured you?"
I stared at her, jaw dropped. "Not funny, Leto."
She chuckled. "Your face is priceless, though."
" I really came looking for you to-"
" I know," she interrupts quietly, looking at me softly. "I'm sorry, too."
"It's just something I have to do," I told her quietly, the thought barely a whisper.
"Yes I see that now."
"Leto."
"And I will support you, little one.."
"Leto watch out!" I yell, pointing towards the snowy mountain cliff.
With a surprised grunt, she swung her head towards where I was pointing and roared. She veered away, but her feet hit the rocky slope, making me jerk forward.
"Gahh!" I yell out as she scrambled on the slope, growling and howling with frustration and distress. "Leto move your wait upwards not downwards!"
She bunched her muscles and stuck the claws on her wings into the rocks, her tail swinging.
I yelled out as it hit a large boulder and broke it with a loud rumble. The rock split into bits of smaller ones, disturbing other rocks and boulders on the slope.
"Leto, bank left!" I yelled out loud, gripping a scale on her neck. "Now!"
Leto barked in response and shifted swiftly away, barely missing the shards of rock that rolled down.
"Leto let go of the mountain!" I yell.
"Do you have wind in your brain?" she snarled, gripping tighter onto the mountain.
"Leto, let go so we can shoot upward back into the sky," I told her, watching rocks right above us begin to tremble. Pebbles began to dribble down under us.
"But-"
"Leto this won't hold very long!" I yelled. "The rocks above us are about to collapse!"
She let go, falling backwards. I wrap my arms tight around her neck and just before we land in a bed of shards she opens her wings and shoots us up, whirling around so she's flying into the sky.
"Yes!" I cheered, relief pooling over me. "You did it, Leto!"
"We did it," she replied happily, flying back towards the house.
Jackson was drinking his coffee with an amused gaze, leaning against the fence.
We land and I slid off Leto, sliding my hand down her neck and then taking her face in my hands. "That was fun."
"Very," she said in an amused tone, nuzzling my face.
"Jackson will not know of this," I told her, smirking slightly.
"It will go to our graves."

YAY A LONGER CHAPTER :D
I felt I don't do much flying interactions with Leto and Faye, so I did that for this.
Until next time!
