But anywho! On with thee story!

-------

I was in a battlefield, surrounded by bodies again. Blood. Death.

War.

I swallow a lump in my throat as I look around at the bodies around me. Some are familiar, others aren't. I'm dressed in battle armor, that's too heavy. It's weighing me down like a bunch of boulders resting on my shoulders.

My vision is glazed by tears, and I felt a burning sensation in my ribs. I was covered in blood and wounds. I look around wildly. Where was Leto?

"Faye!" The familiar voice echos in my head.

"Leto!" I gasped, looking around for the white scales of Leto. "Leto! Where are you? I-I can't see you!"

Her voice was weaker, "Faye.."

"Leto!" I screamed both out loud and in my head. "Don't you dare! Are you injured?"

"Stabbed in the chest." My dragon sounded distant now, like a lost and lonely echo. A sob escapes my throat.

"D-don't close your eyes," I pleaded, frantically running through the crowds of fighting people. I didn't stop to help anyone. My mind was on one thing and one thing only. Leto.

"It's difficult," she whispered. I felt her life force weaken to nothing but a thread, making me want to just drop and lay there. I felt my energy leave me like wind passing through a field. "I don't know if I can hold on, Faye.."

I found her body. She was dressed in silver armor, laying on her side in a field that was empty. Gleaming red caught my eye. It was Leto's blood.

I cup my hands over my mouth and sprint over to her, crouching down. "Leto," I sob out loud, tears streaming down my face. Her chest was dribbling blood, turning her beautiful white scales a dark red color. "Don't you d-dare leave me, you h-hear?"

"Never." She looked at me with pleading blue eyes, then dropped her head to the ground. "I will never leave you alone, Faye.."

"Promise me, damn it!" I scream, putting my hand on her chest in attempt to stop the bleeding. "Promise!"

She gave me one sad look, before closing her eyes and going limp.

-

I scream as I jump up. Fresh, hot tears were running down my face uncontrollably. I rock back and forth and put my hands in my arms, sobbing loudly.

"Faye." Warm hands grab my arms and pull them from under my face. I look up and see Jackson's concerned and worried expression. "Stop..don't cry, love."

"B-but Leto.." I look around frantically. The battlefield was gone, replaced by our hotel room. That means that what I saw was just a dream..it wasn't real.

It felt real.

"Love, everything's fine." He brushes hair away from my face, frowning. "Leto's fine, I'm sure."

I shook my head, wiping my eyes in frustration. "I had a nightmare. That's all."

"A nightmare?" he frowns at me, tilting his head. "What kind of nightmare?"

I told him everything about the nightmare, all the while picking at my pajama shirt strings. Explaining it was just as painful for me as experiencing it, so I had to try to reel in my emotions as I told it to him. When I finished, he was silent.

"Well?" I ask, my voice shaky.

He wraps his arms around me and I nuzzled into his chest, seeking his comfort. "I'm sorry you had that nightmare," he told me softly, his fingers running through my hair gently.

"It was so real, Jackson," I whispered, gripping his shirt in my hands. "I-I don't think I've ever had a dream that felt as real as that one did. It was like..it was almost like I was really in a battle."

"Dreams are tricky," he replied, sounding thoughtful but sad. "They're really difficult to understand."

"What do you mean?" I look up at him.

"Warlocks and witches have the ability to interpret the meaning of dreams," he told me, rubbing his chin.

"Really?" I frown, raising my eyebrows. "I didn't know that."

"That's because it's extremely rare and difficult," he told me. "Only the most powerful of warlocks and witches have been able to do that. You have to first be able to stand the dreams."

"Stand the dreams.." I murmur, furrowing my eyebrows. Did he mean that sometimes warlocks and witches couldn't cope with what they saw?

"Many have tried to do this," he says, leaning against the headboard of the bed. "They tried to withstand the dreams, the things they see."

"If they do?" I ask.

"Then they move on to the next stage," he answered, rubbing my hand. "If they don't, they're usually driven to insanity."

I bit my lip. "And if they pass, they'll be able to, like, tell people what they mean?"

"Sort of. Like I said, dreams are tricky. They don't always have a meaning, exactly, such as someone dreaming about going to the mall and run into Taylor Swift at the mall's book store. That doesn't mean it'll happen, it's just there to please the mind while asleep."

"Please the mind?" I shake my head. "Jackson-"

"Love, we aren't really human remember?" Jackson reminded me, smiling. "The humans try to have a scientific explanation for every single thing. There has to be an explanation for this and that, otherwise it can't be possible. In our world of the supernatural, we have different answers. Answers that we've known since the beginning of time."

"Humans weren't even around until long after the dinosaurs," I protested, "which is millions of years after the creation of Earth!"

He smiled. "When I mean the beginning of time, I mean the beginning of the supernatural time. Not the time of the first humans."

I was just flat out confused now. "Okay.." I rub my temples. "Please explain."

"After your ancestor, Cain, discovered the dragons and befriended them my ancestors wanted to know how he was able to live a longer period of time and have magic." He frowned deeply, as if thinking of it bugged him. "They wanted the magic and longer lifespan, but they didn't want a dragon to ride."

"What?" I shot my eyebrows up.

"It's true, honestly." He shrugs. "Anyways, they came up with the idea of killing a dragon and taking a sip of it's blood. A lot of people died because they would drink a whole goblet of it, which is seriously deadly for the human body.

"They then took small sips, and it seemed to work for them. They had magic, and they didn't have to have a dragon either. That's how we came to be, and of course this angered the Riders."

I nod, and said, "So basically, we discovered things long before the humans were able to."

"Yes. The dragons told the riders how Earth worked. It's rotation, weather, so on..and years later the humans figured out some bits and pieces about it."

"And what about dreams?" I asked.

"Dreams are sort of controlled by little creatures called Wisps," he starts, crossing his arms and scowling. "They're not able to be seen by the human eye, but they are able to invade the mind of humans. They give dreams, flashes of the future, control nightmares. That thing."

"Oh.." I glanced around, searching for anything. I don't want little tiny creatures invading my mind.

"There's no way to keep them away, sadly," he sighed. "They're here to stay."

"Wonderful," I mutter.

Not much in this chapter. It sort of goes deeper into the supernatural past.

Hope you enjoyed!
