"Are you absolutely sure mom and dad are gone?" Lucy asked Amanda the tenth time as we drove to their old house.

"Yes, I called Mom this morning," Amanda said, sounding annoyed. "She told me she and dad were taking care of something."

"Right," I said dryly. "Taking care."

"Wait a moment," Jackson piped up. "Wouldn't they know that it you abandoned the Slayers since you burned the bracelet?"

"They'll know soon," Amanda said glumly, rubbing her wrist. "It sometimes takes a while for people to know when a Slayer's gone."

"Then it gives us enough time to search the house, grab what we need, and bring it back to the hotel," I said, pursing my lips and stretching my neck up to get a better look at the house, which looked nice.

Jackson drummed his fingers on the steering wheel. "How do you know they won't return sooner than we thought?"

"We don't." Amanda took off her seatbelt and opened the car door.

"So we're just gonna go in there like that?" Jackson protested, shaking his head. "No way."

"Jackson." I nudge him. "We've got no choice. It's now or never."

He scowls before taking off his seatbelt, muttering under his breath. "Right."

"Don't be a baby."

"I'm not being a baby, I'm just concerned that their parents could return any moment."

Lucy sighed, getting out of the car as well. "They could return at any moment, Jackson, but that won't really matter. Either way, they'll know stuff is gone sooner or later."

"Fun," I mutter sarcastically. I look up at the old brick building that I've been to millions of times. I felt a pang of sadness when I saw the house because Lucy and I always spent time here as kids. Her parents were so nice then..

"Faye." Lucy was standing beside me. I turn to look at her.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"We need to talk."

I look at Jackson who blinked at us, confused.

"We'll be right in," I promise him. He hesitates for a moment, before following Quince and Amanda inside the house. I turn back to Lucy. "Yeah?"

"It's Ken." She bit her lip, glancing around as though mentioning Ken might make him appear out of thin air. "

I grimaced, looking down at my feet in attempt to hide the expression I assume was on my face. The expression of anger and hurt. We've not spoken about Ken very much at all, mainly because we don't like the fact that he's betrayed me and handed me over to the Slayers who held me prisoner for weeks. Ken sort of disappeared around the time I got kidnapped and we haven't seen or heard from him since.

I shuffle my feet on the driveway, putting my hands together awkwardly. Lucy puts her hand on my arm. "Faye..look..I know talking about it is a pretty touchy subject for you right now."

I bit my lip. "I-it's just upsetting to think that he.."

"I know," she murmured, sounding just as hurt and pained as I felt right now. Sometimes I would think about Ken, and when I did it was like i was being stabbed over and over again with a knife. He betrayed us. "I can't really help but feel that he..I don't know-"

"It was because of me," I cut her off, crossing my arms and looking around. "I know it. One moment we're dating the next I tell him I'm getting married. I talked to him once after we returned to the Honeymoon, and it made me think that he couldn't of betrayed us."

"You talked to him?" she asked me quietly, brushing her dark hair away from her pale face. Her dark brown eyes were troubled.

"Yes," I answer, frowning. "I had come to your hotel room. He said that he was waiting for you to come back, that you were catching up."

"Faye," she said, her tone filling with shock and disbelief, "I haven't talked to Ken since the wedding. I never agreed to meet with him, and we never made plans."

I look up at her face, and we stared at each other letting our minds wrap around the information. I finally said, "What? But..but he said.."

"I'm not lying," she replied, beginning to pace desperately. "The last time I talked to him was like I said, at the wedding. He was being a huge jerk that night and said something to me that I-I brushed off. It was unimportant to me at the time and I thought it was just words."

"What did he say?" I demand, watching her movement.

"H-he told me that he was thinking of going to live with some of our relatives," she explained, nibbling on her thumb.  "Going back to get some things worked out with the family. I thought that he might be..I don't know...rethinking his decision of becoming a Slayer."

"But you brushed it off," I conclude, running my hands through my hair, "because you assumed he was truly on our side."

"Yes," she admits. "When was it you came to my hotel room?"

I tried to think. "The Sunday after getting home, I think."

"Shit," she whispered, pacing faster. "This is not good."

"What?" I ask, stepping forward. "Luce, what is it?"

"That Sunday was the day that Rosanne called me." She put her hands to her forehead, her eyes wide with realization. "Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit!"

"Rosanne called?" I asked, my voice getting higher. "Lucy tell me everything."

"I was with Quince when she called me. We were out walking in a park and stuff. When I asked her how she got my number she told me there was someone who told her, someone who had agreed to give it to me. She told me that I should come home because there was a family member who was getting their Slayer's Armor."

"What is that?" I ask.

She paced faster. "It's when a Slayer in training has earned their right to become a fully fledged dragon killer."

Something inside me snapped. "That family member..it was-"

"Yes," she said, her hands on her face. "It was Ken."

"Oh my God," I whispered, my hands going to my mouth.

"That bastard is going to-" Lucy starts, but is cut off.

"Faye! Lucy!" Jackson swung open the door and looked at us with a dark expression. "You guys might want to take a look at this."

Lucy and I lock gazes for a moment, a silent agreement to finish this conversation later passing between us.

We turn and walk up to Jackson who looked deeply troubled. "What is it?" I asked.

"We found some things that might help us," he told us, grabbing my hand and leading us inside. I've always liked the inside of the house. It was rustic and looked natural with grey bricks, fake vines everywhere, old style furniture. It was a truly beautiful house and I wish it wasn't taken by Slayers.

Jackson led us into Lucy's father's office, where Lucy and I would often sneak in when we were younger and look through some of his old books that just stood in the bookshelf.

Amanda and Quince were sitting over about eight boxes with papers and binders scattered around them.

"What's this?" I demand, gesturing with my free hand to the mess.

"Take a look." He took a binder off the desk and handed it to me. I frown and release his hand from mine and study the old brown leather binder in my hands.

I open it and my eyes widen when I see the lettering.

SUPERNATURAL DECLARATION OF WAR.

There was a bunch of things that were on this paper, such as cost issues, army supplies, allies, etc. I skimmed through it until I got to the bottom of the page, where my attention was caught immediately.

The Head Slayer agrees to the terms and conditions stated directly above this form. This deceleration will seal all agreements within. Should this form come under any harm, the war will be stopped.

Please state the supernatural race you shall declare war to:

My hand shot to my mouth when I saw the word scribbled on the line.

The Dragon Riders.

-----

Short, terrible, blah blah. I'm sorry for that, I'll try to update again asap.

So your thoughts on the reveal of Ken's betrayal?

Until next time!
