EPILOGUE
The crisp sea breeze filled the air as Nyla curved her dreadlocks behind her ear. 4 years have passed since the case that shook the werewolf world. So much have changed. Also Darci and Carson married and have a little 5 year old son of their own named Darren. And just as she promised him she greeted him with a smile and a big hug celebrating their union.
Darci thanked her sincerely.
"Thank you Nyla."
"Of course!"
"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!!"
Nyla turned away from the scenery to glance down at a little 4 year old girl running towards her on the sandy beach.
Nyla chuckled as the little girl ran into her mother's bosom. "Imani slow down love."
Imani giggled as she pulled her mother's hand.
"Mommy I wana pway in water!"
"Alright now." Nyla picked up her daughter and took her near the shore. "But only this far alright? You know how your father is over you being in the water too long."
Imani nodded. "Okay!"
As the mother and daughter pair continued to play near the water they heard the shuffling of sand behind them.
"Momma! Momma!!"
A little 2 year old boy waddled up to his mother in the sand.
Nylas eyes light up at the two year old who struggled to walk without falling down on his bottom."Isaiah hey baby! Do you feel better now?"
The two year old giggled as he snuggled in his mother's embrace. "Yeth!"
"Mommy carry me too!!"
Nyla placed her for year old daughter on one hip and her son in the other. The three shared laughs and giggled as they moved away from the water and towards the sand.
"Which one of you can make a better sandcastle?"
"Me!"
"Me!"
The two children started playing in the sand while Nyla watched them in content. After a while she looked around.
"Where's your father?"
"Gotcha!"
"Wayne!"
Wayne tumbled in the sand with Nyla in his arms. She groaned and hit him in the chest.
"Wayne!"
"Yes love?"
Wayne's eyes held mischief in them as he had his arm wrapped around Nyla's waist while he was above her.
"My locks!"
He moved a few of her locks out of her face. "And?"
"I just cleaned them!"
"I'll clean them for you."
Nyla huffed as she looked up at her husband. "Wayne! We have a really important meeting tomorrow!"
Wayne layed a soft kiss on her lips."They won't miss us. They should know by now that clearly we are busy."
"Ew! Cover your eyes!"
Wayne rolled his eyes at his daughter. "Imani really?"
She shook her head as she covered both her and her giggling younger brother's eyes. "You nasty!"
"Then go play with your little brother."
Imani beamed as she grabbed the hand of her younger brother. "Yay!!"
The two children walked a little distance from their parents who watched them from afar.
Wayne mumbled as he sat up from the sand."I guess I don't have to worry about her wanting a boyfriend."
"She's saying that now but later on she'll have one."
"You wishing bad on our daughter?"
Nyla chuckled as she sat up and shook the sand from her locks. "Do you take anything serious nowadays?"
"Yes."
"Really? And what is that?"
"You."
Nyla was a bit taken aback from his serious gaze. "You answered that pretty quickly."
Wayne laid down on Nyla's lap and played with her locks. "Of course and the little rugrats we created."
Nyla giggled. "Yes, both them and our little angel."
Angel, the name they both gave their firstborn miscarried child. Because it was only a month old they never knew the gender, but the gender neutral name they picked suited whichever gender it was set out to be. Angel, the baby that brought their parents more closer during their darkest moment. And for that they're forever grateful for their firstborn child.
"Yes. Our 3 children." Nyla then thought for a moment. "I wonder how's Yorell doing?"
Wayne yawned. "Last I checked he was doing good in Alpha training and academy. Passing with flying colors they say."
"Is he making any friends?"
"Mhm. Well not as much as he did when he was... you know. But he has a few sustainable ones. Hes friends with little Jamal, Darren, and is close to his sister."
"His sister is about 5 now isn't she? How's she doing?"
"She was named Gabrielle. She's quiet just as her 10 year old older brother."
"He's 10 now. Is it alright for him to be surrounding himself with toddlers? I mean Jamal is only 6."
"He's placed himself in a bit of self isolation love."
"And... he still hates me."
Nyla remembered the time she went to visit Yorell after giving birth to Imani. She brought Imani and thought the two would have a good relationship.
His expression was resentful as the 7 year old glared at her.
"I hate you! Go away!"
"Yorell, I-
His eyes filled with tears as he continued to yell at her angrily."Go away you liar! Father murder! Go away you and your- your- ugly baby!"
Nyla felt paternal anger flash through her heart as he pointed to her newborn baby in her arms spitefully.
"YORELL!"
Nyla clearly remembered Greea, who she hadn't seen since two years staring at her from behind the door. A smug look seemed to spread and read on her lips.
I am his mother.
Wayne sighed as he read her thoughts. "It's Greea. You know he doesn't mean that. He's still a child."
"I know. It's just so much to worry about. And the council-"
"What about them?"
"They are wary of us. Ever since the trial tensions between Betas and Alphas have increased drastically. With alot of Betas trying to get their Alphas out of position and Gammas claiming neutrality. It's getting chaotic. If we hadn't-
Wayne rolled his eyes as pinched her nose. "I thought I told you to stop worrying about those things? What should've, could've, would've, never happened so we can't dwell on it. Isn't that what you told me?"
Nyla blushed as she nodded. "Yes, I guess so. I feel so old now. Just worrying."
"Old?!" He pointed to his body dramatically. "Im 32 and you are 29. I'm clearly the old one here."
"Yes but not all of you is old. I mean it still works perfectly doesn't it?" Nyla playfully ran her hand down her husband's bare chest making his fast twist and her burst into laughter.
Wayne's face blushed embarrsedly. "You have jokes now?"
Nyla saw the look in his eyes and stood up as she backed away from him. "I was just joking!"
A smirk made it's way on his face as he followed her."No I clearly think you meant it."
Nyla then felt a splash of water on her as Wayne burst into fits of laughter.
"Y-y-you look like hell!!"
Nyla's hair was drenched in water and her white dress were wet and damp.
"Wayne!!"
She in turn did the same as the two stumbled and continously play fought in the water. The babies followed behind the parents staying on the shore and playing near the sand.
~~~
"The last time I was this tired was when I was pregnant." Nyla said as she sat down on the sand tiredly.
The babies were put back in their beds to nap as the couple walked back our of their beach house and onto the sand.
Wayne sat behind Nyla as he wrapped her in his embrace. "And you were still beautiful then."
Nyla nudged him jokingly."Even if I was gaining extra pounds?"
Wayne laid kisses down her neck while his arms circled around her waist.
"You are so beautiful. From your eyes, body, personality, hips... He placed a gentle kiss on her lips. "Lips..."
A blush filled Nyla's cheeks."You really have become the sweet talker haven't ya."
"Is it sweet talking if it's true?"
"Not unless you trying to gain anything from it."
"How about tonight?"
"Unless you want a 4th child-
He chuckled while he layed his head into her neck."Then what if I said I only want your love?"
"Then I'd say your sweet talking will be accepted." She said as layed back in his arms.
The two shared a chuckle as they fell into comfortable silence.
Wayne thought for a moment before speaking his worries."Would... would you want to change anything in our marriage? This right here?"
"No. This is perfectly fine." Nyla held his hand. "This right here. I wouldn't change it for anything."
Wayne tighten their hold and kissed her hand. "And I wouldn't trade you for anything."
"Wayne."
"Hm?"
"I'm so thankful that we made it this far. Thank you for trying."
Wayne felt tears spring in his eyes. "Thank you... for allowing me to prove myself."
Nyla pinched his nose. "You are such a crybaby."
"It's because I love you too much."
"Is that bad?"
Wayne ran his fingers through her locks. He remembered when he first met her there was a brightness to her that he thought he didn't deserve. Now, he's learned to fully enjoy the things he have he has to cherish them. To the fullest extent.
"No, because I would rather love you too much than not enough."
Before Nyla could respond Wayne wrapped his arm around her pulled her into a passionate kiss. They both been through much pain, sorrow, and struggle. They may not be perfect but they found a way to make it work. They learned to adapt, change, and try to understand each other to the fullest.
"Ew! Mommy and daddy kissing again!"
The said as they children ran up to their parents. Nyla chuckled as Wayne pulled apart while tugging on her bottom lip.
"Really, they sometimes regret making me have kids." He mumbled.
"Wayne..."
"Im kidding!"
"..."
"Nyla love I'm kidding!"
