Chapter two

Artemis' POV

I couldn't believe it. Kratos loved me! I was so happy he survived and was even more happy when he admitted his love for me. I simply knew I was the luckiest girl in the world. Of course my good mood had to go to an end when Zeus called a meeting. No doubt to discuss their epic fail at killing my Kratos.

I knew they would fail. It's impossible for him to die. Not just because he is a God. But simply because he seems to defy fate. He was supposed to have died long ago. That was his fate. But he defied the fates and fought. He fought and won.

I entered the throne room to find the Gods arguing. No surprise there. As soon as I sat down, everyone quieted down.

Zeus cleared his throat and began speaking.

'It seems we have failed to kill Kratos today' He began.

Immediately everyone looked down in shame. Some, like Hermes, Hestia and Aphrodite had looks of fear in their eyes. Hermes had a look of sorrow and regret and Hestia looked happy. Why was she happy? I wondered.

Poseidon looked angry that they failed to kill Kratos.

'We have to hunt him down' Athena declared.

'Yes, he is far too dangerous to leave alive' Poseidon agreed.

I sat there quietly and listened to the Olympians bickering about how it's everyone's fault that Kratos survived.
Well everyone except Hestia and Hermes.

'ENOUGH!' Zeus yelled, successfully silencing the room.

I chose that moment to speak. 'I told you so just doesn't quite cut it' I said in a bored tone.

Poseidon glared at me as well as a number of the council.

'You are right Artemis. But what's done is done, and now we need to finish what we started before Kratos strikes out against us' Zeus said sadly. He was also rubbing his stomach and I remembered that Kratos had kicked him pretty hard.

I smiled internally. He should have kicked Zeus harder for what he did.

'Maybe we should have Artemis and her hunters hunt down Kratos. It should be easy for them since they specialize in hunting down enemies' Athena said looking at me.

I glared at her. 'I will not have my hunters killed by Kratos. We hunt down animals and monsters not Gods!' I said angrily.

'Please do this for me Artemis. We need him found. If you find him then tell us and we will flash there before he harms any of your hunters' Zeus begged from his throne.

I sighed in fake defeat. 'Ok fine. But you better get there BEFORE he harms any of my hunters' I replied.

Zeus nodded. 'Of course my daughter. All you have to do is track him down' He said looking at me with a smile on his face.

I nod and he dismisses the meeting. I quickly flash away to my hunters.

'Zoë, gather the hunters. We are hunting Kratos, The God of War' I said as I reached my lieutenant Zoë.

Her eyes widened. 'We are hunting a God?!' She asked shocked.

'Yes' I said nodding my head sadly.

She seems to catch on because she looks at me worriedly.

'What's wrong my lady?' Zoë asks.

I sigh. 'It's Kratos. He is innocent in this and yet we are hunting him down' I said sadly.

'My Lady, It seems to me that you had developed...feelings for this man' Zoë said quietly.

I looked at her shocked she found out. I was about to make up a lie but decided against it. I don't lie to my hunters.

'I have. He is a good man. The only decent man I've met in my entire immortal life' I admitted quietly.

Zoë gasps in shock but looks at me with a sad look on her face.

'Then what are we going to do? We can't hunt down the man you love' Zoë said looking at me.

I stared at her in shock. I never would have expected her to be so accepting of me having feelings for a man.

Zoë smiled. 'You're wondering why I'm so ok with it aren't you?' She asked.

I nodded.

'Well long ago before I was a hunter, I made the biggest mistake of my life. I trusted that asshole Heracles and gave him my sword Riptide. When he started to walk away leaving me behind I started to cry. Then out of nowhere Kratos showed up. Back then he was known as the 'Ghost Of Sparta' and he fought Heracles. The fight lasted a minute and at the end, Heracles was on the ground bleeding from multiple wounds. The Ghost of Sparta then returned my weapon and said 'Assholes deserve worse than a beat down, but he was nice enough to give me the weapon to return to you' and then he left without asking for anything in return. Ever since then he has been the only man I've ever respected. A few years later he came to me and took me to your camp and that's when I joined the hunters' Zoë finished with sadness in her eyes.

I ran up to her and hugged her. 'I never knew that' I said shocked but happy that Zoë respected the man I loved.

'Nobody does, I've never spoken of it to anyone. You are the only person that knows besides Heracles but he would never admit to the beat down he got' Zoë said laughing.

I laughed with her, picturing Kratos beating up that jerk Heracles.

'We will pretend to hunt him down. Eventually my father will give up. Or at least I hope he does. In the meantime, would you like to meet Kratos?' I ask.

Zoë's eyes widened. 'You know where he is? Of course I wanna meet him! He saved me twice!' Zoë said excitedly.

I smiled, placed a hand on Zoë's shoulder and flashed to Kratos hidden palace.

Kratos' POV

I stared at the spot where Artemis left for several minutes with a smile plastered to my face. Then my smile became a grim expression. I was going to get my vengeance. Ares didn't get away with his betrayal, and neither will Zeus and the Olympians!

I flashed to the barracks where my Spartan Army trains. When I appeared, everyone bowed. Two figures walked up to me and kneeled.

'Lord Kratos' They said in unison.

'Please stand General Thorin and Commander Therik. I need you both to assemble my army in the Marching Fields. We are going to war again' I ordered.

Thorin and Therik are twin brothers who are unmatched in swordsmanship by anyone. Well anyone but me, I was the one that taught them. Their parents were killed by Barbarians and they joined the Spartan Army when they were 10 years old. Both served with me when I was a mortal and now they still serve me.

They quickly bowed. 'It shall be done my lord' They both said and turned to follow my orders.

Twenty minutes later, I was standing on a giant rock overlooking my Spartan Army. My brave, and fearless warriors awaiting my orders.

'My fearless Spartans! Today I was betrayed by the Olympians!' I started.

Almost immediately, there was a roar of Anger towards the gods and many threats to kill them all. I smiled at their eagerness and loyalty. They were loyal men, each and every single one of them. After a few minutes they quieted down.

'From today on until we are ready to strike down the Gods, you will train like never before and recruit more soldiers! We will make the Gods regret ever even thinking about betraying me! We will tear down Olympus and bring the Gods to their knees! However, do not under any circumstance, attack Artemis and her Hunters! They are not to be harmed. They are the only ones that didn't betray me!' I bellowed from the top of the rock.

My Spartans all screamed and banged their swords and spears against their shields in excitement for the coming war. I smiled at them all proudly. I watched as they began to march to the training area to train and some went to the mortal world to recruit more soldiers.

Of course, the new recruits all have to swear absolute loyalty to me. I don't just grant immortality to just any soldier. They must swear their loyalty by the River Styx. That's why I know they are all loyal to me. Absolutely no traitors are within my ranks.

I flashed back to my throne room just in time to see Artemis flash in. I turned and saw Artemis with someone I recognized instantly.

'Zoë! It's been a while my friend. How has life as a hunter been treating you?' I ask crushing Zoë in a hug.

'It's been very well lord Kratos. I'm surprised you remember my name!' She replied after I let her go.

I smiled. 'Of course I remember. You are a good friend. Heracles hasn't bothered you anymore has he?' I ask.

Zoë shook her head. 'No he has not. I thank you for that. I never got the chance to thank you before' She replied looking into me eyes.

I laughed lightly. 'It was nothing. I never liked that asshole. What he did to you was unacceptable and he did the mistake of doing it in front of me' I said smiling.

'Indeed he did' She replied.

I then turned to Artemis and saw her smiling. 'How was the meeting my love?' I ask.

She blushed at me calling her my love. 'It went as expected. They asked me to gather my hunters and to hunt you down because you are a "Threat" to their rule' She said.

I grinned. 'They got that right. I am a threat to them now. Nobody betrays me and walks away with their life' I replied.

I felt a hand slip inside mine and saw Artemis holding my hand. She looked up at me with sadness in her eyes.

'I am with you, whatever you decide to do, my love' She said before she leaned in and kissed me softly.

I kissed her back before a throat clearing broke us apart, both blushing.

We turned to see Zoë laughing at our faces. 'You should see your faces! So funny!' She said in between fits of laughter.

I smiled at her. 'Nice to know you're having fun with this' I said.

Just then my General and Commander walked in, fully armored.

They both looked shocked to see Artemis here as well as her lieutenant. But both shook it off as they stepped up to me.

'My lord, I'm here to inform you that the new recruits are ready to take their oaths' General Thorin said after bowing to me.

'Very good General. I will be there in a moment' I said dismissing them.

'You have a General?' Zoë asked. 'And why do they look familiar?'

I smiled. 'I also have an army. And they are familiar because they are the same General and Commander I had when I met you' I replied smiling.

Zoë's eyes widened. 'You made them immortal?' She asked.

'Yup. I also made my entire army immortal' I said grinning.

'You made your ENTIRE army immortal?!? Thats against the rules! How did you not get caught?' Artemis asked shocked.

I laughed. 'Yes I made my entire Army immortal. And I didn't break any rules because I am not bound by any rules or laws. And I never got caught because my army never left this palace. They guard my palace and train all day' I replied.

'Wow that's amazing' Artemis admitted.

'They will soon be your Army as well' I said smiling at Artemis as she blushed knowing what I meant.

'Now come on, I want you to see how my Army trains and what their oath is' I said flashing them to where the new recruits are.
