Chapter Six
Kratos' POV
Irritation. That's all I felt as I stared at thousands upon thousands of monsters arrayed against me.
This was seriously going to take a little longer than I expected. I only had 2100 Hellhounds with me, and we are going up against well over 40,000 monsters.
My Hellhound Lieutenant named Rex came up to me. 'My lord, we can take them' He stated confidently.
I shrugged. 'We might but a lot of us may die' I admitted.
Rex scowled. 'Ever since you became our king, our strength and power have risen, as well as our endurance. We won't be losing as many as you may believe' Rex said confidently.
I was puzzled. 'Wait, how did you Hellhounds gain more power since I became king?' I died curiously.
Rex gave me a toothy grin. 'We get our strength from our king. If our king is weak, us Hellhounds as a race will become weak as well. But you are extremely powerful and your power continues to grow. As your power rises, so does our own' Rex replied.
I nodded in understanding. 'Oh, well we are going to get very powerful now then. My power grows with every kill I make' I said grinning as I stared at all the poor monsters I am about to kill.
Rex seemed to be on the same page as me because he gave me a grin and let out a vicious growl, a growl the rest of the Hellhounds mirrored.
I turned my attention back to the apposing army of monsters and saw the Titan of Destruction walking around with a small group of guards around him. I smiled as a plan began forming in my head. A plan that included my Spartan Army kicking ass, as well as my Hellhound Army.
I turned to my Lieutenant Rex. 'Rex, call the retreat. I have a plan' I quickly told him what the plan was.
'That would save countless lives my king. It's a very wise decision, though I would have preferred a more straight up fight' He said grinning.
I returned his grin with a smile. 'Yes but my Spartans haven't gone to war in hundreds of years. They need to let out some of their energy one way or another' I replied.
Rex grinned. 'Your wish is our command my king, it shall be done' Red said, turning around and barking out orders.
~~~TIME SKIP~~~
My Hellhound Army is currently camped out in a huge cave by the River Styx. It's the perfect place to hide out and regroup. What's even better is that we are only half an hour away from the Doors of Death and right under the nose of that Titan.
'My lord, Lady Artemis and Lord Perseus are here to see you' Rex reported from outside my tent.
'Let them come in' I ordered.
A moment later, my wife and son entered the tent. I gave them a smile. 'Hello my love and my beautiful son. Good you both made it' I said happily as I pulled them both into a hug.
They both smiled and returned my hug. 'We've been great father. Some campers noticed I was gone but they don't suspect anything. However, that daughter of Athena is way too curious for her own good' My son said after pulling away.
I sighed remembering when I used to work for Athena back when she needed me to defend Athens.
'Don't worry son, once I'm out, it won't matter if they know. They will never throw me back in here' I said confidently.
'Good because I need my husband back!' Artemis said giving me a smile.
I laughed lightly. 'And I need my wife and son back. So anyways, you are both probably wondering why I called you two here?' I said.
They both nodded, allowing me to continue. 'I called you here because there is an army of 40,000 monsters waiting for me at the Doors of Death' I said grumpily.
Artemis' eyes went wide. '40,000 monsters?? I didn't know that many fit in here' Artemis said shocked.
'Does that mean I can fight with you father?' Perseus asked.
I laughed. 'Yes you can fight with me. The reason you are both here is because I need you two to get my Spartans. I need you to get me the 3rd and 5th Legions' I said with my hands clasped together.
'The Spartans are still alive??!' Asked a bewildered Perseus.
I smiled. 'Of course! Spartans never die, that was the Spartan motto back in the day, I just made it true by giving them all partial Immortality like Artemis did the Hunters' I answered with pride in my voice.
'That is so cool!' Percy cheered jumping up and down.
I laughed. 'What are you, a 5 year old or a young adult?' I asked amused.
He laughed. 'I'm both!' He replied finally sitting down.
I rolled my eyes.
'So by when do you want your Spartans here my love?' Artemis said, changing the subject.
I smiled. 'First of all, they are OUR Spartans. And second, I need them in four days. That's when I will begin my attack against Tartarus' Army. I will also order every Hellhound in the Mortal World to gather at my Secret Palace. They will have orders to march with the 3rd and 5th Legions, and they will follow both of your orders' I stated, my serious face on.
Artemis nodded. 'And what will I be doing father?' Perseus asked.
'Son, I need you to go back to camp until my fight starts. When it does, then you can come over and join me. I need you back in camp so that you can make sure that nobody has any clue as to my escape from here. If they do then keep pretending Poseidon is your father so that you will be safe until I get out' I told him.
He didn't look happy about going back to camp but he nodded his head. 'I understand father. You can count on me!' He said with a small smile on his face.
'Oh and father. There's been a new Prophecy. It calls for seven demigods to march to the Doors of Death to stop Gaia from rising, and I'm supposed to be one of the seven' He said rubbing the back of his neck.
I sighed as I placed a hand on his shoulder. 'Son, give em hell for me then! If I make it out of here in time, I will join you on this quest' I told him.
He looked up at me. 'Really? You will?' He asked excitedly.
I nodded. 'Of course. You are my son, I will never let you fight alone. Especially in a war against Gaia and her children' I stated firmly.
'I too will be looking out for young throughout your journey my son' Artemis said smiling warmly at Perseus.
'Thanks mom and dad!' He said happily.
'Oh and son. I have a gift for you. I wanted to give you this but since I was stuck in Tartarus and all, I wasn't able to do that. But anyways, here you go' I told him, handing him a wrapped item.
Percy looked surprised as he took the wrapped item in his hands. he carefully unwrapped it and stood up in shock and awe.
'Father, I thought this was lost!' He said staring at the sword I gave him.
I smiled. 'It was never lost. I just had it the whole time. It's the Blade Of Olympus. It's a very powerful weapon, fit for a god' I said proudly.
Tears formed around Percy's eyes. He ran up to me and hugged me. 'Thanks dad!' He whispered in my ear.
I smiled. 'Anything for my son' I replied, tears forming in my own eyes.
'I too have something for you son' Artemis said handing him a ring.
'Um mom, I don't even have a girlfriend let alone anybody I want to marry' He said looking puzzled at the ring in his hand.
Artemis laughed. 'Just put it on and tap the diamond' She said.
Percy did as she said and was surprised when a bow appeared in his hand. The bow was pure black with silver designs etched on it.
'Pull the bow string back' Artemis directed, to which Percy complied.
Even I stood in amazement as a pitch black arrow appeared, the tip of it being a combination of Silver and Celestial Bronze. All in all, it looked amazing.
Percy looked at a chair and aimed his bow. He released the arrow, but unfortunately, he shot me on the foot.
'Ow, Percy learn how to shoot!' I shouted in fake anger.
Percy looked shocked and instantly made the bow back into a ring. 'Sorry dad! I guess I still suck at Archery' He said sadly, looking down at the floor.
I laughed. 'You think?' I asked rhetorically.
Artemis laughed. 'Come here son, I will give you my blessing do you can shoot an arrow and hit something besides your father's foot' She said trying and failing to keep a straight face.
I rolled my eyes. 'It hurts. Try getting shot in the foot by that particular arrow and we will see if you are still laughing' I said crossing my arms.
Artemis gave Percy her blessing and surprisingly enough, he shot an arrow at a target I constructed outside and he hit bullseye! I was surprised.
'Nicely done son! Now come here, I will give you a small upgrade' I said.
He nodded, a proud look in his eyes. 'Give me your bow' I ordered.
He complied, handing me his bow. I held it in my hands and started to chant in a long forgotten language. The bow started to glow a deep dark red with a mixture of darkness, almost like shadows were leaping out of the bow. After I was done, the bow no longer glowed. I handed it back to Percy who took it curiously.
'Now, aim at that target over there' I said pointing at a target 100 feet away.
'But dad, it's too far away! I won't hit bullseye' He said.
I sighed. 'Percy do you trust me?' I asked.
Percy nodded. 'Of course I do dad' He said seriously.
I smiled. 'Then shoot a damn arrow at the target and prepare to be amazed!' I said with a grin on my face.
He nodded then narrowed his eyes at the target. He pulled back on the bow string, and it instantly started to glow a deep dark red and darkness.
He released the arrow, in seconds the arrow hit the target. To Artemis and Percy's surprise, the arrow exploded as soon as it hit the target, leaving a smoking crater where the target once stood.
Artemis and Percy were wide eyed, shocked that the arrow exploded.
'How did you do that?' Artemis asked, still in her shocked state.
I smiled. 'I just gave the bow my full blessing. It can kill mortals, immortals, Gods and Titans now' I said with a grin.
'Give me your bow, so I can do the same to it' I said holding out my hand.
Artemis snapped out of her shock and handed me her bow. I did the same thing to her bow and it glowed a deep dark red and darkness. Only difference is that it also had a silver outline to it since it is her weapon of power.
Once Artemis took her bow back, I sensed her power grow. She was shocked but I can tell she was happy. She was now just as powerful as any of the Big Three, maybe even more powerful.
She pulled her bow string back and an arrow materialized on it. She took aim at the crater Percy left behind and released the arrow. As soon as it hit the crater, the arrow exploded with a lot more power than Percy's arrow. Even I was pushed back a little as a shockwave passed from the explosion.
I grinned. 'Nicely done my love. You can now kill pretty much anybody that pisses you off' I stated proudly.
'Thanks my love!' Artemis said, jumping in my arms and kissing me on the lips.
'Eew gross, get a room you two!' Percy said in fake disgust. I rolled my eyes.
'Ok, I'm going to drop Percy off at camp, then I will go rally the 3rd and 5th Legions and order them to the Doors of Death. However, we have a small problem. We don't know where the Doors of Death are on the mortal side' Artemis said, putting back on her serious face.
I sighed and started thinking. 'Wait, Percy you said that you were going to the Doors of Death right?' I asked.
Percy nodded. 'Yea but we don't know where they are' He said.
'But you have a quest. Son I need you to keep your mother informed as to where the doors are. That way she can lead the Spartan and Hellhound forces to the Doors' I said.
Percy looked thoughtful for a moment before he nodded his head. 'I can do that father. I won't let you down!' He said with a determined look on his face.
I smiled and nodded before turning back to Artemis. 'While Percy is completing the quest, you can gather the Legions and get them informed of my return, especially my General and Commander' I said.
Artemis nodded. 'You can count on me my love' She said. I smiled happily as she flashed away with Percy.
Now all I need to do is wait a little bit then the fun will begin, I thought happily.
