Chapter Four
A few months after visiting Kratos in Tartarus.
Artemis' POV
I'm in pain. So much pain. I never knew giving birth would hurt so much. Right now I'm in Kratos' Secret palace in the nursery giving birth to my son. I didn't trust humans to help me, and I will NEVER trust Apollo with my child.
'Aaaaaarrg' I screamed in pain again.
'Your doing wonderful my lady. He's almost out! Just one more push!' The female doctor whispered soothingly.
I nodded with a pained look in my face. I breathed in deeply and pushed one last time with everything I have left. I screamed in pain, squeezing the life out of my lieutenant Zoë's arm.
I stopped screaming as I heard the sound of an infant crying loudly. I felt tears in my eyes as the doctor stood up holding a tight bundle on her arms.
'My baby, please give me my baby!' I whispered, the tears now flowing unchecked down my cheeks.
The doctor smiled. 'Congratulations, your child is a boy!' She declared as she handed me my son.
I took him into my arms gently and looked upon his face for the first time. I gasped at how beautiful he looked. My baby boy.
'Congratulations My Lady. I'm happy for you' Zoë whispered beside me.
I smiled up at her. 'Thank you my dear friend' I replied.
Zoë smiled. 'What are you going to name him, My Lady?' Zoë asked curiously.
My smile grew even wider. 'Kratos and I have decided to name him Perseus, Perseus Achilles Jackson!' I said proudly.
I turned back to my son and gave him a soft kiss on his forehead. Perseus smiled a bit and was soon fast asleep.
Four days later....
I looked down at my beautiful son. He has a little bit of black hair, I changed his eyes from the Crimson Red eyes with silver outlining his orbs to sea green eyes. I also had Hades mix in a potion, then he handed it to Poseidon who gulped it down. Poseidon was half asleep when he blessed my son.
He also won't remember blessing my son. I also did as Kratos suggested and I placed fake memories on both Poseidon and that mortal he's so fond of, I think her name was Sally Jackson. I gave my son one last kiss on his forehead and placed him on a cradle in the human hospital just in time to see a doctor walk in. I quickly made myself invisible and watched as she took my son away to Sally and Poseidon.
I felt my heart break at the thought that I would never be able to see my son take his first steps. Or hear him say his first word. But the most painful part is that he would not know I'm his mother. At that thought, fresh tears filled my eyes. I flashed out of the hospital and to my tent in the hunters camp. I curled up in a tight ball and cried my heart out.
A few years later...Percy is beginning his quest to save Artemis.
Percy's POV
(Hey guys, I'm going to skip the whole trip to get Artemis out because I'm pretty sure you all know what happens. Bianca does die still(Sorry)
I'm so tired. I have been traveling to save Artemis for A couple days now. But finally we made it! I sneak inside through a long hallway.
'Ok guys, what's the plan?' I ask.
We all look at Zoë. 'We get in there, kick some monster butt, and save our Lady Artemis!' Zoë whispered enthusiastically.
'Wow I could have come up with that' I said.
Zoë rolled her eyes. 'Well why didn't you?' She asked in a 'duh' voice.
The group starts laughing.
I roll my eyes and lead the way. We walked for a few minutes when we came up to a clearing. In the clearing I saw Lady Artemis. She was currently holding up the sky, but I can tell she is on the point of collapsing.
I don't know why, but when I look at her, I feel as if I should know her. Is that normal? I mean, she's a man hater, why would I feel like I know her? I don't know the answer to that, nor do I know why I am suddenly enraged to see Lady Artemis in such bad shape.
I instantly uncap Riptide and charge to Lady Artems' side. I only got about halfway there before I felt the hard hit on my side, followed by all the oxygen in my lungs to be forcefully pushed out and me hitting the ground hard. I rolled to the side, barely missing an Empousai from impaling me with a sword. I kick her in the face and scramble to my feet, just in time to block her sword strike again.
'I've been wondering when you would show up Jackson!' Atlas taunted from my right side.
I stabbed the monster through its chest before turning to where the sound came from. I looked up to see Atlas towering over me.
I glared at him. 'Well well, if it isn't Atlas! How does it feel to hold up the sky for so long? I bet you have some serious back problems' I said laughing.
Atlas sent me a glare before growling and charging me. He lifted his weapon but quickly dropped it as a dozen arrows lodged themselves in his hand.
I laughed and charged him as he screamed in pain. We battled for what felt like ages but I know it's only been a few minutes. Zoë kept shooting arrow after arrow, her accuracy point on. I was tired though, I instantly knew I couldn't win this fight. I am not strong enough to win.
I refused to give up though, I continued to fight as I thought of a plan on how to win. After a minute I finally got something.
I kicked Atlas as hard as I can, thankfully he flew a few feet giving me the time I needed to tell Zoë what I had planned.
'Zoë, I need you and Thalia to keep Atlas busy' I said once I caught up to them.
Zoë and Thalia looked at me curiously. 'What will you be doing until then?' Thalia asked.
I grinned. 'Someone has to hold up the sky while Artemis beats up Atlas' I said with a smirk. I quickly turned and ran towards Artemis before they have a chance to argue with me.
'Lady Artemis, I need you to move so I can take the weight off of you. You have to fight Atlas with the girls' I said quickly as I tried to get beside her.
Artemis looked at me shocked. 'No, I will not let you take this great weight. You will die!' She said surprised that I would suggest such a thing.
I smiled. 'I'm so going to regret this when you get Atlas back under the sky' I said as I breathed in deeply and tackled Artemis out of the sky.
Instantly I felt unimaginable pain as the weight of the sky literally fell on my shoulders. Artemis looked at me in shock, then she steeled her nerves and charged Atlas.
I watched as Artemis battled Atlas. She was amazing, her silver hunting knives a blur of silver. I could barely see her move!
I then saw Atlas kick Zoë, sending her across the clearing and hitting a rock. My heart was beating fast as I remembered the prophecy. No, she can't die, can she? Shes the toughest girl I've met! Surely she can survive a kick right?
I must have spaced out because I suddenly felt something smash into me, pushing me out from under the sky. I looked up after I landed on the ground and saw Atlas right where he belonged, directly under the sky.
I smiled. 'Are you alright Percy?' Artemis asked offering me a hand.
I was shocked to say the least, but I shook it off and took her hand. 'I'm alright thanks. But we need to get to Zoë, she crashed over there!' I fair running to where I saw Zoë crash.
I got to Zoë first, and gasped in shock when I saw a lot of blood pouring out of her mouth. 'Zoë!' I said, tears forming in my eyes.
Her eyes fluttered open. 'Hey Percy. Is lady Artemis safe?' She asked.
I nodded. 'Yes, we got her out. Don't worry, you are going to be ok' I told her reassuringly.
Artemis looked at her in tears. She held her hand and it began to glow against Zoë's wound.
'Apollo!' Artemis yelled.
In an instant, Apollo flashed in, looking around worriedly. When he caught sight of Artemis, he ran to her.
'Hey sis, about time you-' He trailed off when he saw Zoë on the ground.
'What the Hades happened?' He asked, getting on his knees to help Zoë.
'Just save her Apollo, Now!' Artemis yelled.
Apollo was quick to work. His hands started glowing very brightly, as bright as the sun. Soon, Zoë started coughing.
'Zoë! You're alright!' I screamed in relief.
Zoë smiled. 'It will take a lot more than a kick to keep me down' She said weakly.
Artemis and I laughed. 'Good, I just got a new friend, one I don't want to lose!' I said smiling.
'You and Zoë are friends?' Artemis asked.
I instantly got scared. Ah crap, I'm getting turned into a Jackalope! Was my only thought as I turned to look at Artemis.
'Um, yes, just friends!' I said quickly, my hands raised in surrender.
Artemis laughed lightly. 'Percy I would never turn you into a Jackalope' She said still laughing.
Apollo looked at her in shock. 'Your growing a soft spot for the kid? Who happens to be a guy!?' Apollo asks bewildered.
Artemis sighed in annoyance. 'You idiot, he saved my life! What have you been doing? Sitting your lazy ass in your throne listening to music as usual while everybody else was arguing?' Artemis asked angrily.
Apollo gulped rather dramatically before looking down in shame. 'Sorry, but at least I came to save Zoë!' He exclaimed, looking like his usual happy self.
I just stared at the two siblings in shock. Who knew gods acted like kids? I sure didn't. I expected them to talk normally and say words that I can actually understands because right now I think I just learned several new colorful words!
'Um sorry to interrupt this, um, family reunion but shouldn't we get to Olympus?' I ask.
They both looked at me like this was the first smart thing I've said in my life. Hey, I can be smart if I want to!
'Yes, we should. Apollo, go to Olympus. I must check in with my hunters' Artemis ordered, leaving no room for argument.
Apollo sighed and nodded before flashing out.
'My lady, how will we be getting to Olympus? I need to let Zeus know my quest was successful' I said weirdly.
Artemis smiled. 'We are riding on my Chariot of course. However first we need to get my girls and Annabeth back to camp' She said smiling.
I nodded and followed her. She gave Zoë orders, which she acknowledged and went to gather the others from the quest.
Artemis then came back to me.
'Good, now that we are alone, I need to speak to you' She said hopping into her Chariot. She nodded for me to get in as well.
I was instantly scared. No male has ever ridden on Artems' chariot before, yet here I am ridding on her Chariot! And what does she need to speak to me about?? I swear Zoë and I are just friends not that kind of friends!
'So, um, what did you want to talk about, my lady?' I asked nervously.
Lady Artemis looked at me, smiling. 'Oh Percy, you have nothing to be scared of. I won't harm you' She said reassuringly.
I nodded, still nervous but not as much as before.
Artemis turned to me. 'Percy you must listen to me because what I'm about to tell you, nobody, and I mean NOBODY knows about this' She said, suddenly very serious, her smile completely gone.
I nodded nervously. 'I swear on the River Styx not to reveal what you tell me to anyone unless you give me permission' I managed to stutter out, thunder booming overhead sealing the oath.
Artemis looked at me, smiling once more. 'Percy, there is no easy way to say this but, you are my son' She said softly.
I just stared at her flabbergasted. Do I have hearing problems now? I could have sworn she said I was her son.
'Uuhhhh' Was my genius answer.
'Percy you must believe me. I know it's a lot to take in, but you are not Sally Jackson's son. You are my son, we both share the same blood' Artemis said softly, speaking slowly so as to not overwhelm me. Unfortunately I'm overwhelmed!
'B-but aren't you a Maiden Goddess? You aren't supposed to have kids! What was Poseidon thinking?!' I asked horrified of what would happen on Olympus.
Artemis looked me dead in the eye. 'My sweet Perseus. I swear on the River Styx that you are my son. Poseidon however, is not your real father. And I haven't been a Maiden for well over 400 years. But I only got pregnant with you a few years ago' Lady Artemis admitted, Thunder rumbling overhead, signaling another sealed oath.
I looked at her shocked. Then something in my mind clicked.
'Wait, so if Poseidon isn't my father. Then who is? And why do I have water powers if Poseidon isn't my real father?' I asked confused.
Artemis smiled. 'You have water powers because my husband, your father, is a genius. You see, he knew that I couldn't keep you because if Olympus found out who your father is, they would have hunted you down as well as me' Artemis replied.
'As for who your father is. His name is Kratos, the true God Of War' Artemis finished, looking at me sadly.
I gasped at what I just learned. Kratos is my father? As in the actual Kratos that killed his wife and daughter?!
As if sensing my thoughts, Artemis spoke.
'Your father is a great man Perseus. I promise. When he became a god, he not only redeemed himself, he also earned my respect. Trust me when I say that you are just like your father' Artemis said softly.
I looked at her trying to see if she's lying but got nothing. She was speaking the truth. Of course she's speaking the truth! She swore on the River Styx! I mentally face palmed myself.
My eyes started to fill with tears. Soon they overflowed, streaking down my cheeks.
'You really are my mom?' I asked, trying to confirm what I've just learned.
Artemis quickly nodded, tears flowing down her face. 'Yes my son, I am your mother. I'm so sorry I couldn't keep you. Giving you to that mortal Sally Jackson was the hardest thing I have ever done!' Artem- I mean mom said, crying softly as she pulled me into a hug.
I hugged her back just as enthusiastically, wrapping my arms tightly around her. 'Mom, I forgive you. If father is hunted down by the Olympian gods, then they would definitely kill me as well' I choked out as I pulled away from mom.
Mom smiled at me. 'We can visit your father after the Olympian meeting. Would you like to meet him? I've told him all about your quests and how you are an excellent swordsman! He's been wanting to see you for quite some time now' Mom asked looking at me nervously.
I smiled at her. 'I would love to meet my real father! Where is he?' I asked.
My mother smiled brightly at me, happy that I wanted to meet my father. But then her smile faded somewhat.
'Your father is in Tartarus right now' She said sadly, fresh tears sliding down her face.
I went and hugged mom. 'It's ok mom, I'm sure we can break dad out!' I said cheerfully.
My mother smiled as she pulled away. 'I'm happy that you want to meet your father. I promise you that he is a great man. He is full of honor and respect, unlike that vile Ares!' Mom said with a sneer at the mention of Ares.
I laughed. 'Yeah, Ares is the worst!' I said still laughing.
Mom laughed as well. My mom and I talked for quite a while, catching up on what we missed. Mom even told me about everything father accomplished as the God Of War. I was so mesmerized by her story I didn't notice we arrived at Olympus.
I sighed as Artemis and I walked into the Throne Room of Olympus. Zeus was arguing with Hera about something. Apollo was hearing music on his iPod. Aphrodite was putting on tons of make up on. Hephaestus was working on some invention. Ares was sharpening a knife. All in all, the throne room was a disaster.
'Alright I'm back! Now shut up and let's get this meeting started!' Artemis yelled, getting everyone's attention.
'Artemis! It's good to see you again!' Zeus said happily. His happy smile faded when she sent him a glare.
'No thanks to you lot' She sneered softly.
Zeus cleared his throat. 'Anyways, let's start this meeting' Zeus said.
Third Person POV
Deep in Tartarus, a great power rose. Monsters ran in fear as the powerful god ripped the chains that held him down. No longer shall his vengeance be denied.
Monsters turned to dust as the mighty War God rose to his godly form, consuming the power of the monsters he slew. His power continued to grow and grow until he became more powerful than all of the Olympians combined.
The War God had a bright, blinding smile on his face, the only thing on his mind was the face of a boy. A boy he wanted to protect and raise. As well as a woman who was the boy's mother. The love of his life. The one person he trusted with everything he had.
They are his family, and he is finally going home to them. He is finally going to be able to hold his son, and kiss is wife.
The mighty War God grabbed a Hellhound by the throat. 'My my, you are bigger than the normal Hellhound aren't you?' The War God asked smiling.
The Huge Hellhound growled. 'I am the King of All Hellhounds. You will put me down this instant or suffer my wrath!' It sneered.
The War God smiled. 'You are all bark but no bite. I believe the Hellhounds are in need of a new King, don't you?' The War God asked sarcastically, a sadistic grin on his face.
The King Of All Hellhound's eyes widened in pure terror before the War God crushed it's throat. The Huge Hellhound king turned to dust, then the dust traveled towards the War God who consumed its power.
The War God grew to 100ft tall, his powerful muscles bulging and growing. His senses heightened as he looked around.
All around him, monsters stared at him in awe and fear. He smiled at them all before he let out a terrifying roar.
'Hellhounds! Who is your king?!' The War God yelled.
Instantly, Hellhounds started howling up at the War God, all of them bowing to him.
The War God was not pleased however.
'I don't believe I heard you all. I said, HELLHOUNDS, WHO IS YOUR KING?!' The War Gods voice boomed loudly so that all monsters in Tartarus, and Hellhounds in the Mortal world could hear his voice.
Instantly every Hellhound, each and every single one of them that was in Tartarus roared in approval, all happy to have a new king. Every Hellhound in the mortal world also roared just as fiercely.
This time, the Ancient War God smiled. 'Good, prepare to march into the world of the mortals! You are now with me my faithful Hellhounds!' The War God boomed.
With that, the War God charged through Tartarus, directly towards the Doors Of Death, and NOTHING will stop him from getting out.
