"She thinks she's so clever, outsmarting me every time." Mind Bender muttered bitterly, scratching at the rashes forming on his arms. "I'll show her." He had just torn away all the vines trapping him and beginning the journey home. He kicked the rocks along the river bank grumpily.
Suddenly, sparks shot at his feet causing Mind Bender to jump back in surprise.
"So...you're the town's superhero, not much of a fight if I do say so myself", a deep disembodied voice taunted.
Mind Bender squinted at the darkness, trying to spot the person who offended him. Who does he think he is to challenge me? A shadow leaped elegantly from the roof, landing softly under a nearby street lamp to show a villain dressed in a yellow floral sundress with waist length wavy blonde hair, her face hidden behind a yellow eye mask. Her cold amber eyes flashed dangerously.
a girl???
Mind Bender stared at her in astonishment, before composing himself by schooling his features into a mask of confidence.
"Why, if it isn't little Miss Sunshine" he sneered.
"The name's Striker" she answered, staring him down defiantly, "and I'm going to whoop your ass."
He raised an eyebrow, scoffing "Oh? I'll like to see you try, Sunshine."
"do. not. call. me. that." she said quietly. She snapped her fingers, creating a resounding boom.
Before he could even blink, a bright zap threw him backwards and he crashed into a wall, groaning in pain. Striker stalked closer, raising her hands menacingly, "Ready for Round 2, loser?" She smirked.
Mind Bender scrambled backwards, only to hit the wall, eyes darting around, looking desperately for an escape. His hand enclosed on the rubble lying on the floor. "I...I...SURPRISE!" He flung it at Striker before scampering off.
"GAH" she howled, stumbling backwards blindly, rubbing her eyes, only to rub the dust even further into her eyes. By the time she managed to see a faint outline of her surroundings, Mind Bender was nowhere to be seen.
"That's right, run home to mummy!" She bellowed, before leaping back to her lair, occasionally bumping into a street lamp or two.
Meanwhile, Mind Bender was indeed running home, not to his parents of course, but just to get home. After all, he is a high school student and exams were still going to happen, hero duties or not. He climbed up a pipe to a balcony lined with gnomes, closing the balcony door softly before sliding down to the floor with a sigh.
TWO super villains? This is a nightmare. He dragged his hands across his face wearily. But first, he glanced at the clock that glows a bright 00:00. exams tomorrow, hero duties later
Mind Bender dragged himself to change out of his costume into a comfier set of pyjamas, grumbling about his double life as he settled into bed, scratching his face absentmindedly,
what I need is a plan....to get rid of this dratted itch....and...
drifting to sleep in seconds.
