Chapter 17: Okay It Seems Like We're More Fucked Than The Last Chapter

After you guys dried off and changed to another warm set of clothes, you both started to walk towards the cave Lukas found before he was about to drown.

"It's not that far actually." He stated. "And I've got more bad news about the place."

"Hit me." You drank some of the coffee from the thermos.

"They're a family of trolls."

Suddenly your coffee tasted bad. You stopped drinking and placed it back in your backpack. You sighed and looked at Lukas with a very annoyed look.

"Really now?" You stopped and placed your hands on your hips. "Seriously?"

"What?" He answered. "It's not like I can control the entire troll population and say: "Oh please go away Mister Troll or we'll kill you!" because it doesn't work that way and this is the north. Most trolls live here to escape civilization."

"No wonder you lived here." You muttered and continued following him to the trolls' lair.

"So there's only four trolls in there right?" You asked.

"You've seen what the troll can do back in Trondheim." He answered. "Obviously it's going to be more hostile than the first one."

"Then let's just- I don't know- lead it to the sirens and let them drown." You spoke in a tone that Lukas finally noticed for the past few hours.

"You've been speaking like that for two hours and you've been bringing up the siren." He looked at you. "Did she do anything to me?"

You looked away and pouted. You crossed your arms.

You didn't get why you felt like this. Anger, confusion, and some other emotions hit you like a dart that came out of nowhere. You couldn't look at him in the eye or even speak to him normally with the usual tone. You spoke to him with such poison that annoyed the hell out of him. You've never acted like this before since you learned that Henri had more Gameboy cartridges than you when you were seven.

You sighed in frustration as Lukas shook his head.

He picked up a stone and threw it towards the water. The stone made three hops that made the emotions swell up more.

You scrunched your nose and grabbed a stone for yourself and threw it. It only made two hops.

"Dammit." You muttered.

He threw another stone that made three hops again. You threw another one that made five.

"Hah!" You crossed your arms and stuck your tongue out at him.

He knitted his eyebrows and threw another that made seven. Your eyes stared in astonishment as your eyes gaped open from that. You puffed your cheek and threw another stone that made six.

"I win, now tell me why you're acting like this." Lukas broke your tension.

You bit your cheeks and shook your head.

"(Y/n)..."

You breathed and crossed your arms. You remained silently like a child. He looked somewhere else and sighed then looked back at you. You still weren't talking.

"Is this about the siren?" He asked you. "Is something bothering you about it?"

"No, it's..." You trailed off.

You remembered when the siren kissed him. Her soft lips pressed against his sharing an underwater kiss with him. You grabbed on to your elbows tightly and scrunched your nose once more.

It's been bothering you for hours and hours making you think about it nonstop.

Jealousy was swelling in you.

You had to admit that she was insanely beautiful. A glittering rainbow colored tail, long midnight black hair, ruby red pulpy lips, beautiful color changing eyes full of mischief, porcelain white skin that must've been soft, and a slim body that can be compared to Behati's body from Victoria's Secret.

You puffed your cheeks and held onto your elbows.

"Fine." You sighed in frustration. "I may, or may not be, affected by a certain fish woman who... Who-"

Suddenly the ground shook that almost made you fall into the water if it wasn't for Lukas grabbing your hand before you can fall in.

Your heart suddenly skipped a beat as he pulled you back on your feet.

"T-Thanks..." You mumbled and balanced yourself. "The hell was that?"

From a distance you could see something emerging from the cave that Lukas was talking about. Four figures that could've been human only if they were a but shorter and not round like the Pokémon Golem.

"Hey look it's Flinch." You pointed at the largest of the trolls.

They roared out and sniffed the air as if they were looking for something. Suddenly they faced your direction that gave you chills.

"Lukas-"

"Run." He answered.

You both wasted no time in running. Before the trolls can even sense you both, you were already running towards the campsite.

They let out a great roar that shook the ground. Lukas stopped and faved back at the trolls. His eyes glowed blue like how his eyes did when he strangled Mark. He raised his hands up as a large thick wall of sand covered the view of the trolls.

"That'll hold them off for a few minutes." He resumed running with you towards the camp.

"What now?" You asked until you remembered the portable tanning bed at the car.

You both arrived at the camp and gathered the photo lights and the flashes he brought. You grabbed a flare gun, the silver bell he gave to you, the flash gun of your camera, a flash bomb, and the car keys.

"Okay, Lukas." You spoke as you strapped everything on. "Keep the trolls busy and lead them towards the car when I send the flare out."

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" He asked you as the wall started to crack up.

"Trust me." You started running towards the forest. "Give me a ten minute head start!"

"You're crazy!" He yelled.

"Hypocrite!" You yelled back as you disappeared into the forest.

You dodged trees, jumped over fallen logs, stumbled a few times, and had a few close calls from low branches. You leaped over a large rock and felt a gust of wind coming from the

Out of nowhere another troll came from behind.

"For fuck's sake!" You yelled as you rolled away from the troll.

Reminder that trolls can look like rocks if they want to and that's how they don't get caught in ways under the satellites.

You grabbed your bell and rang it out loud like it was New Year's Eve. The troll roared and covered its ears from the sound. You ran far from the troll and ended up on the road.

You made a run for the car which was up ahead.

"Why did we have to park so far..." You huffed and puffed under your breath.

The snow crunched under your feet as you ran like hell was after you. You knew that the effect on the troll wouldn't last long enough for you to get to the car.

Suddenly a tree impaled the ground right in front of you. Your eyes widened as you slipped on the ground and fell on your back.

You sat up groaning as you turned towards the incoming troll. You gulped and grabbed the flash bomb strapped on your waist.

"Fire in the hole!" You yelled as you threw the flash bomb at the troll's direction.

You hid behind the impaled tree and covered your eyes as the bomb produced a blinding flash. The troll let out an ear piercing roar of pain.

The ground suddenly shook. You opened your eyes to see some of the troll's entrails in front of you. Your body shook as you took a peak at the troll. Nothing, but entrails were left and a head. You were about to puke, but you remembered the rest of the trolls. Lukas was still waiting for your signal.

Puking can wait... You mumbled in your thoughts and continued running towards the car.

You finally arrived at the car with feeling light headed from all the running and the coldness. In fact you were sweating despite it being less than two degrees celsius. You grabbed your flare gun and shot the flare into the air signaling Lukas.

You pulled the back open and grabbed the tanning bed out. You dragged it to the front of the car.

You quickly made it face the empty road in front of you. You opened the hood of the car and grabbed the clips of the battery. You prayed silently in your mind that this would work. You attached it to the portable tanning bed.

"(Y/n)!" You saw Lukas up ahead with the four trolls right behind him.

Lukas snapped his fingers as the impaled tree flew towards the trolls only missing it. You wanted to say nice aim, but there were more important matters than being sarcastic at the moment.

You waited for the right moment to turn the tanning bed on. Lukas came in closer and closer with the trolls right behind his tail.

When the trolls got close enough you yelled. "BUSHES NOW!"

Lukas got the signal and dove into the bushes as you turned the blinding light of the tanning bed on.

The trolls screamed in pain as the two of the biggest started to turn into stone. The younger ones began to bloat up. You hid behind the car as the two younger ones exploded. You breathed heavily and shakily took a peek at the trolls.

The remaining two were turned into stone. They looked those old statues on rooftops or ones that aren't marble. Just pure stone with moss around them. It didn't show signs of it being living creatures or anything.

You noticed the other entrails and then finally threw up all of your lunch and breakfast. Lukas came out of nowhere and held your hair up as you puked. Once you were done you cough and wiped your mouth.

You sighed and looked at the stone trolls.

"The older ones tend to turn into stone in the presence of light while the younger ones explode."

"Now you tell me." You stretched your arms and grabbed your back up camera in the car's compartment.

"They are literally stoned." You chuckled as you took pictures of the trolls.

You zoomed and took a picture of every detail. It was like a ruin of something that was once fierce and marvelous. The statues looked like gargoyles spatted by acid rain. It reminded you of the things you saw back in France when you had a field trip there.

Slightly green and a bit cracked, but beautiful. You could've brought those trolls home and used them as gnomes for your uncle's lawn, but you ha a feeling that they might turn back any time sooner.

"Would you like to do the honors?" You stopped taking pictures and looked at Lukas who held out a mallet.

Your eyes glinted with playfulness. Without hesitation you gave your camera to Lukas and took the mallet.

You ran up to the first troll and swung the mallet right at its knee. It broke into a hundred pieces as it lost balance. You stepped away and smashed the rest of the troll that was in midair.

You raised the mallet up and slammed it down as you broke the the other foot that was standing.

"Take that you shit!" You yelled at the rubble.

You turned towards the other troll and gripped on the mallet.

"Fuck you, Flinch!" You swung the mallet that specifically hit the troll's cock.

Lukas watched you from a far and took pictures of your rage. He smiled lightly ad watched as you yelled out other things in Dutch.

"Why can't I read your mind anymore..." He whispered wondering why he couldn't anymore.

He's good at reading emotions without mind reading, but the weird thing was that it seems he could no longer connect to your mind. He can't explore your thoughts anymore. He doesn't know what you're thinking. He only knows the current emotions in your mind.

Suddenly his thoughts were snapped out by your squeak. You were running towards him as you dropped the mallet. You hid behind his back and clawed on his shoulders like a cat.

"What the hell are you-"

"S-Someone's over there." You stuttered.

He rose his eyebrow at you as you grabbed your camera from him and took a shot of the figure from the distance. You gave the camera back to him and showed the picture.

He saw a figure in a trench coat holding a large broad sword. He gritted his teeth and looked at the figure up ahead on the road.

You peeked over his shoulders to see the same man from his house next to the one with the braided beard. Shivers crawled up your spine. His intimidating glare was giving you more chills as the goosebumps rose.

"Whatever you do, pretend that you went in the car." Lukas ordered you. "And hide behind."

"But-"

"Go, he's getting closer."

You hesitated, but went along with the plan anyways. You hopped into the car and shut the door. You crawled your way to the back and exited the car silently.

When you came out and closed the door silently, you felt a hand on your shoulder that made you freeze. Your heart beat quickened in fear as you hands shook from the coldness. Then the stranger's voice spoke with a hint of harshness in his tone.

"Who are you?"
