Chapter 14: Hammerfest

"What town are we going to again?" You asked.

"My hometown, Hammerfest." Lukas replied. "I just hope that my brothers aren't here."

"Are they that annoying?"

"Everything gets... Out of hand when we're together."

You snickered and shook your head. The fact that he's in a family business where you hunt trolls makes him sound scary, but he has a family who likes to mess around.

The troll you both hunter for went farther up in the north. It was seen somewhere near the outskirts by some civilians or passing tourists who reported them unknowingly to the association.

The drive went on until you both had to stop. You wondered as he signaled you to get up.

"My hometown is not on the mainland."

You quickly got your belongings you needed for a good three days. You had no idea how long you guys would be staying there. Knowing that his family might be suspicious if you for blogging, you hid your camera in your bag and left your other equipment. Looks like your future viewers will have to deal with the poor lighting or quality themselves. Or maybe you can just edit them to make it clear in the future.

You both took a ferry for Hammerfest. The cold breeze made a calming aura around. It made you feel at ease after all of these events. The thoughts and feeling came up in mind. You slid on your headphones and listened to music as you leaned against the railing of the ferry.

(This played on your phone.^^^)

You closed your eyes and started to drift into a daydream. It seemed so peaceful. The beat drops and your mind begins to imagine all the colorful stuff. Your creativity spills over with splatters of paint everywhere. Then suddenly you just wanted to lay down and rest.

(Y/n)...

Huh?

(Y/n)!

Your eyes flung open as you saw a woman with red eyes and shark-like teeth in front of you screaming. You immediately backed away and bumped into someone behind you. The siren jumped back into the see hissing at the both of you.

"Didn't you see the sign?" You looked at the yellow sign to see the illustration of a figure being brought down by a mermaid figure.

"Sorry, I just came here like a minute ago." You smiled sheepishly at him.

"You could've drowned."

"I'm still here aren't I?" You breathed out. "Besides, it would be too cold to go for a swim."

You leaned on the railings again and pulled down your headphones. You looked at the snowy scenery. The ice was a bit heavy, but you both can make it in time before the ice can stop the ferry.

You blew into your hands from the coldness that made your fingers numb. It was colder than the usual winters you were used to when you lived in your former estate in England. Snow didn't even fall. It was just really cold. From the breeze to the icy waters.

You liked the feeling it was calm. Though you would prefer that it wouldn't be this cold.

"What was it like growing up in Hammerfest?" You asked him.

"We didn't live near the town itself due to the training we have, but it was a peaceful living. My mother, father, siblings, and I." Lukas said.

"I bet you all can survive a zombie apocalypse." You snickered.

"Nope, there are draugen." He shook his head. "Undead that guards their treasure in their graves or sometimes they just go out of their grabs and drive people and animals to their deaths. They also posses the ability to choose their physical strength."

You froze in fear. They sounded scarier than real zombies. It's a good thing that you haven't met one. Yet.

You looked over at the horizon. The thing layer of fog was beginning to clear up showing the humble town of Hammerfest. You were both excited and afraid. Were you really going to go through this?

"Second thoughts?"

"Hm... But I'm not backing down." You rubbed your hands together to warm up. "Not now, not ever. I've gone this far and I'm not backing out."

"You're really stubborn, aren't you?"

"That's what you call a person with a strong mind." You chuckled as the ferry dropped the anchor.

You walked down the plank towards the harbor and stretched your arms. You rechecked your three-day luggage and caught up with Lukas.

The town was peaceful alright. You've gotta say. It's a nice town to live in. It's like civilization hasn't come here that often. The coldness was a bit of a problem, but you can get used to it.

Why the hell am I thinking about living here? I'm here for the troll and that's it. You snapped out of it and scanned he area around.

"My father knows that we're here." You saw him slipping his phone back into his pocket.

You rose your eyebrows in surprise. "Already? That was quick."

"He has mastered almost everything a troll hunter needs to know so he has this thing where he can alert himself if one of us siblings ever come home." He sighed. "I hope my brothers aren't here. We're coming over to my place first."

And he jinxed it.

By the time you both arrived at his childhood home, he was attacked with a bear hug right in front of you. You were surprised by this and giggled silently.

You saw this act of family reunion as something really adorable and something that may loosen Lukas' serious and intimidating persona.

Then someone started yelling in Danish. You really didn't understand what they were talking about until someone spoke in English.

"Oh, are you Lukas' friend?" You looked at the source of the voice.

A woman a bit shorter than you. Her silver hair tied up in a tidy bun, she had a few wrinkles, but she looked young for whatever age she is, she had lavender eyes like Lukas', a kind smile, and a posture of a ballerina. She seemed really active and quick on her feet.

"Ah, good..." You took a quick look at your watch and smiled back at her. "Good morning."

"Ohhhh!!! Bror har en kæreste???" The one who tackled Lukas into a hug looked at you.

(Translation: Brother has a girlfriend???)

"Wait a minute, (Y/n)?!" It was Matthias. "Is that really you?"

"Hello Matt." You greeted with a small smile as Lukas pulled his collar.

"Calm down you stupid Dane." He sighed.

Well this was unexpected.

After things settled down. Lukas introduced the woman as his mother.

Later on you came inside their house, or maybe manor would be a better description of their house. It was warm and cozy that can withstand winter. Also his mother insisted that you both should stay in the house until you were done with your business. It was a bit embarrassing for you since you're kinda in the territory of troll hunters and you're not one, and that fact that they might have similar skills as Lukas.

Lydia, Lukas' mom (I'm out of names for moms), led you to the guest room you will be staying in on the second floor.

"It is not much, but it is very cozy." She spoke sweetly. "If you need anything my room is just down the hall.."

"Thank you." You smiled as she left you to do your business.

You hoped that you're not gonna cause any trouble.

SORRY FOR THE BORING CHAPTER!!! I WAS BUSY WITH ANOTHER FANDOM *COUGHCOUGHCOUGHDRAGONCOUGHCOUGHAGECOUGHAGAKSG* and I'm sorry! Also sorry for the delay of updates. I almost, ALMOST, escaped Hetalia. But my history geek instincts will never let me go as well as the PJO, HoO, TKC, and MCAGOA fandoms. I'm forever stuck with fandoms that has something related with history or some medieval shit.
Auf Wiedershen for now!
