"This is harder than I thought."
Tylee looks down at her sleeping son and smiles. The past two weeks have been full of sleepless nights, for she and Dan, as they sleep train Ben. Now as he cuddles his blue blanket it seems as though he has always known how to sleep soundly and mostly through the night. "It is morning you know," she whispers to him with a small smile.
"He doesn't care," Dan's deep, but quiet voice says as his hands come to rest on her small hips.
She looks up at her husband and chuckles. "I've noticed." Turning around in his loose hold she stares into his eyes for a long moment before she looks behind him and shakes her head. "Why are you staring at me like that."
"Well, I happen to know my stunning wife very well and know that she has some deep, rich thoughts going on in that head of hers." He holds a slight smile on his lips as he steps back so that he is gazing into her eyes once again. Tapping the end of her nose with his index finger he whispers in her ear, "Fawn, lets go snuggle in our room and you can tell me all about those beautiful thought waves."
She giggles at his poetic attempts and allows him to carry her out of the nursery bridle style. As he easily strolls down the hall she slowly urges her finger tips up until they graze the stubble growing on his chin. The shiver he gives causes her to smile wider and do it again, only longer this time. She feels them lowering down onto the bed, but makes no effort to move from his arms. "Teddy bear, it is spring time," she blurts playing with her hair and staring off into space.
He nods and begins to trace his name on her leg. "Yes, sweetheart."
Turning to look at her husband she shakes her head. "Hearts Bond Ranch has never missed a spring works and a baby isn't going to make that start." The determination in her voice makes him smile and hug her close to him.
"Sounds good, my fawn. Do you want me to contact guys to come help?"
She rubs her lips together in thought before suddenly snapping her head up to look at him with a shocked and almost terror look in her eyes. "Dan, how am I going to gather calves with a son?"
He wants to laugh, but the look in her eyes makes his heart ache for her. He knew the adjustment would be tough on her, but he hasn't thought about the works. "What if you help Becca with the cooking?" The stern look radiating from her makes him shoot his hands up in surrender.
A sigh escapes her lips as she flops back against him. "This is way harder than I thought it would be, you know? Juggling being a mom and still being true to who I am."
Engulfing her in his arms once again he kisses the top of her head. "Oh, Fawn, you are the most amazing woman ever and a baby doesn't change that. If anything it only amplifies it more. Now don't worry your pretty mind about it because I have an idea." Her slow nod tells him to release his thoughts. "What if, we hired a few extra guys so the work goes a little faster and ask my mom to watch Ben while you ride out with us?"
Her face brightens as if a light flipped on behind her eyes. "That sounds like it would work."

Dan hops up from his spot beside Tylee, who is feeding Ben, at the sound of a knock at the door. "Sounds like they are here!" He descends the stairs two at a time loudly leaving a clunking sounds. As he swings the door open a large smile takes place on his lips. "Hey mom and dad!"
"Hello, son, where's Tylee and Ben?" His mom, Katherine, asks with a huge grin.
He and his dad, Sam, both chuckle. "They are up stairs. She is feeding the little guy."
"Oh yay! I'll get started on some supper then. Help your dad with the bags, would you? Oh! And there is a little something for Tylee in the little black one."
Shaking his head with a smile on his face Dan agrees and follows his dad back out the door. His eyes grow wide as he sees all the stuff that his mother has managed to cram into the back seat. "You sure mom wasn't planning on moving?"
Sam laughs as he pulls two suitcases out. "Well, three of those bags include gifts for all of you from us and Greg as well as Susan."
"Oh I see. That is nice of everyone," Dan says with a smile as he thinks about his brother and sister. It has been a while since they have gotten a chance to catch up.
Sam smiles and claps Dan's shoulder before nodding towards the house. "Let's get these inside before your mom has a fit that she needs something from one of them."
After unloading all of his parents things Dan grabs a bottle of water and heads up the stairs. Softly he pushes the door to Ben's room open and peeks inside. The curtains are drawn to make it darker and the sound machine is making the rain noise. In the chair he sees Tylee asleep with Ben in her arms.
Just as Dan is about to go back down stairs he see's Ben's arm move ever so slightly. As quietly as possible he strolls over to his family and looks down on a barely awake little boy. With a smile he takes him in his own arms and places a soft kiss on his forehead. Before he can take a step towards the door Tylee jumps and looks around with worry on his face. "Fawn, I've got him. You go lay down on our bed."
Standing she smiles at her two boys and nods. "Thank you, Teddy Bear. Come get me if you need anything."
Putting an arm around her he smiles. "Oh I don't think that will happen. Mom is very excited to see her grandson again."
"Oh shoot I haven't said hi or anything!"
Gently, he pulls her to him and places a soft kiss on her lips. "My Fawn, it's alright they will understand and you need the rest."
After staring up into his eye for a long moment she nods. "Alright."
With a kiss they go in opposite directions. Her to their room and him down the stairs.
