"I wish you could meet them."
Tylee smiles at her one-month-old son as she hands him over into Becca's waiting arms. The last couple of months haven't given her much time to relax with her husband so when he first suggest Becca watch little Ben and they take a ride together she was extremely excited. Until reality set in and she realized that meant leaving her baby even if it is just for a few hours and only being a short distance away.
"We will be fine," Becca assures her. "Besides you are just going to be right here if you want to come check up on us."
Tylee nods. "I know. I'll be back in a couple hours. I'll have my phone on me be sure to call me if you need anything at all."
Dan who is standing in the utility room chuckles to himself. It is slightly amusing and makes him very happy to see the worried mother come out in his otherwise quite wife. Often times in the last month he has wondered if this is something like what she had been like around her Papaw. Little Ben has brought smiles, joy, and lots of laughs into there lives. Dan likes to tell him, at night when he goes in his nursery to make sure he's good before everyone goes to sleep, that he has brought out a side in Tylee that Dan didn't know he had been looking for.
Tylee plants a kiss on Ben's cheek before she puts her hat on her head and following Dan out to the barn. Once inside the barn she checks on Wind and her little line backed dun colt. She rubs each of them in their favorite spot before catching one of her geldings. As she leads him up to the tack room Dan walks out with her saddle blanket and saddle.
He chuckles as she gives him a hard stare. "Don't worry my fawn, I'm just getting it out for you. I know better than to try to put it on for you."
At that a bright smile spreads across her sun kissed face. "Thank you Teddy Bear."
Dan holds the bridal reins while she fixes the saddle right where she wants it and adjusts the cinches so they fit just right. When she is done and starts to slide the reins from his hand he gently pulls her to him and kisses her lips. At first the kiss is slow and gentle, but it quickly turns heated and rough, yet still gentle. "I've missed doing that all the time," he whispers once they pull apart and catch their air.
"Me too." She lays her head on his shoulder and relaxes into his embrace. "I love you so much Teddy Bear."
"I love you so so much too, my beautiful fawn."
They lead the horses out of the barn before they mount them and look at one another in question. "Your call my fawn," Dan tells her.
A bright almost mischief smile spreads across her face as she urges her sorrel horse into a trot then a lope with Dan riding right along side her. As soon as she round the H braced corner he knows exactly where she is taking them. Somewhere special, somewhere that is special not only for the two of them but for her herself.

Becca smiles down at the little boy resting in her arms. He is the spitting image of Dan, but with Tylee's almond shaped eyes. She hold the nephew like boy she wonders whose personality he will hold. Quiet and reserved like his mom or talkative and sunshiny like his dad. Either way though there is no doubt that horses is in his blood.
Once he is asleep she carries him upstairs to his room and lays him in the chuckwagon style baby bed. When she returns down stairs she hears rustling in the kitchen. Knowing that it isn't Dan or Tylee she scrunches her eyebrows together in question. She steps around into the kitchen to find, if she is being very honest, the most attractive man her eye have even been laid on. He is dressed in light blue jeans, a green button up, and a pair of sorrel colored boots peek out from under the jeans. Okay, wow Bec! Get it together!
"Uh, hi."
He wheels around quickly with his fits balled and his muscles tight. After a few short seconds he relaxes and takes a step back. "I- I'm sorry. Uh, hi. I'm just leaving," he says running his fingers through his short brown hair. Then he grabs his sandwich and leaves the house.
"Well that went well!" She exclaims.

"Why don't we get off here?" Dan offers once they are a couple hundred yards away from their destination.
Tylee smiles, nods and says, "You figured me out, huh?"
He chuckles and wraps her in a hug as she steps from her horse. Her eyes pierce his making him smile a little. "I know you a little too well not to my fawn."
She smiles back at him and kisses his lips softly. He wraps his arm around her waist and kisses her temple. The bright green grass sways around their ankles and birds chirp from the fence a few yards away. "Today's just the way he liked them."
He pulls her closer to him and breathes in the peppermint scent of her shampoo. "He would be proud of you keeping the ranch going so good and being such a great momma to little Ben."
"And finding you." She stares up into his eyes which hold a sparkle. Her voice is small and a lump wells up in her throat.
"Well I can't promise I would meet his standards, but I would venture to say he would be happy that you aren't alone."
She swallows and snuggles closer to him. Talking about her Papaw isn't easy, even after almost five years without him. One thing that brings comfort to her is that she has kept his pride and joy going and nothing has changed since the last time he watch the spring works in the sense that they still drag the calves and use the fire and iron to brand. Not to mention that her husband and new son bring her comfort, happiness, and joy on a daily basis.
Dan plays with her hair as he holds her in a tight embrace in front of one place that has special meaning not just for her, but for them as a couple. The place where they had their first kiss, and the place where he asked the best question in his life, to make her his wife. For her it is the place where her Papaw left an long time message for her. In the trunk of a large tree a shaky carving left just for Tylee by her Papaw, Benjamin Jackson not long before he passed.
He watches as Tylee reaches her hand out and rubs the carving lightly. "I wish you could meet them," she whispers. Nothing can be hear other than the gentle brushing of the grass for a long time.
"He would love Ben so much," Tylee finally starts to speak her voice still small and shaky from emotion. "I remember he would tease me about needing more grandkids and he said he would kick me out so he could babysit for a while and spoil them rotten. One thing he always told me was not to be afraid to step out of being his right hand man to be a mom."
Dan feels tears welling in his own eyes at her words. He knew that her Papaw always appreciated the help and was teaching her the ins and outs of ranching, but the fact that he took the time to look past the 'career' part of her future and look to her being a mom struck a chord inside him. "Fawn, he would love the way you decorated the nursery, and how you already have little Ben outside. Not to mention what he would spoil Ben with when he gets older. You did and are making him proud."
