Night Adventure
Sam had spent the rest of the weekend at Bobby's, starting at the picturre that Gabriel had given him with intense concentration for hours each day. He had studied each piece of the painting carefully, smiling each time he found something that was meaningful to him. It wasn't until Bobby knocked on the door Sunday night that Sam stretched, being pulled from his thoughts after two hours of staring.
"You better get home. Your father will have both our hides if you're late." Bobby said in warning, glancing towards the picture with a curious look. He had asked Sam about it, and it made the Winchester smile knowing that no one else would truly ever understand it.
"I'm going now. Thanks, Bobby.." Sam replied, placing the picture back in its spot on the dresser. Bobby just grunted in response, letting Sam pass.
"Ya know, if you want to spend the night. I think I could allow you friend to come over as well." Bobby suggested, tugging thoughtfully at his beard. Sam found himself smiling and he gave the older man a hug, his eyes bright with excitement.
"Thank you Bobby!" Sam said brightly, before pulling away and grabbing his jacket. "I'll ask him tomorrow!"
With than and a small farewell, Sam headed home, a skip in his step as he thanked the gods above that Bobby existed. He was honestly the best person to ever have as an 'uncle.'
The walk back to his home was peaceful and Sam found himself looking at the stars as he strolled along, counting them in his head. His eyes searched out the big dipper and moved along from there, picking out the constellations he could remember. It took up five minutes of his walk, but he didn't find himself minding.
It was the sound of footsteps behind that snapped Sam out of his search, turning quickly and going into a protective stance. He relaxed when he saw it was just Gabriel and let out a relieved sigh escape his lips. Glancing over, he saw himself in front of the Novak's house.
"Hey." Gabriel said, an accomplished smirk on his face as he walked closer to Sam, his arms around himself to keep warm. "Come to announce your undying love for me?"
Sam smiled, rolling his eyes good naturedly. "I actually was on my way home." Sam replied, hugging his boyfriend as soon as he got close enough. Gabriel instantly burrowed in his arms, letting out a content sigh.
"What are you doing out so late? I didn't think moose were nocturnal." Gabriel replied, leaning his chin on Sam's chest so he could look up at the taller teen. Sam scoffed, but he was in too peaceful of a mood to keep it up.
"I just came from my uncle's, Bobby." Sam said, suddenly smiling big as remembered what he was going to ask. "That reminds me. He said I could spend the night as his place tomorrow and also said you could come if you want."
Gabriel wrinkled his nose cutely, the skin on his cheeks turning red with the cold. "I'll ask my dad, but I'm sure he'll let me go. He's been wanting a break from all the crazy." Gabriel said, smiling brightly as he looked up at the sky. "What were you looking at earlier?"
"The stars." Sam said, looking up as well and smiling softly. "They remind me that I'll never be alone." When Sam looked back down, he found Gabriel staring at him with a weird expression, making Sam furrow his eyebrows.
"What's wrong?" Sam asked, but was left with a surprising answer as Gabriel grabbed the back of his neck, pulling Sam down and leaning up enough so that they could press their lips together.
Sam instantly wrapped his arms around Gabriel's waist, supporting the boy as he tried to work out what to do for a kiss. Gabriel was patient though and gently moved his lips, coaxing Sam to do the same until they finally fell into a rhythm.
All too soon for the both of them, the parted, Sam already missing the warmth that had filled his body when they were connected. Their breaths mixed, and Sam leaned his forehead on Gabriel's holding him as close as he could.
"You won't be alone. Not anymore." Gabriel said, determination and fear lacing the warmth in his eyes. Sam finally felt his heart begin to slow and slid his hand up to the side of Gabriel's neck, still holding onto his waist with one arm.
"Gabriel? Is something going on?" Sam asked, trying to slowly pull the thing that had been bothering the trickster out of him. It hadn't been very noticeable at first, but as Sam got to know the boy, it was getting getting clearer and clearer that things were not all that they seemed with him.
"Yeah, I'm just freezing my ass off." Gabriel replied, smirking as he slid his arms in under Sam's jacket. Sam knew the meant to drop he subject and offered a small smile before sighing, his eyes fluttering closed for just a moment.
"Get inside then. I'll see you tomorrow." Sam said, gathering his courage before leaning in and pecking Gabriel on the lips shyly, moving to the tip of Gabriel's nose before pulling away. Gabriel blushed in response, a grin splitting his face as he walked backwards to his house, staring at Sam with such emotion in his eyes that it left the taller teen breathless.
Sam waited until the door closed behind Gabriel before he began walking again, touching softly at his tingling lips with a fascination as he walked home. He couldn't wait for tomorrow.
