Chapter 6: Part two: Answers

"Quick!" I hissed as I ducked into Father's room. Yarnia bolted into his room. We were looking for answers. Father had just gone to Jotunheim and we knew something was wrong. Lately Father had become distracted and we had sometimes heard him sobbing when he thought no one could hear. He thought he was trying to protect us but he was breaking our hearts apart. I looked around Father's room, it was orderly as per usual. "Yarnia," I asked, "you can read Father's journals, right?" "Yes." she answered. I quickly reached out with my magic to find hidden spaces. I walked to the opposite wall in three strides and with a flick of my hand opened the hidden space. I pulled out the top journal and looked at the most recent entry. It was from a few days ago. It read:

Eka hávr einn frëma ógn. Eka hávr eom vergarí Laufey. Eka líka hávr eom eyðileggja Jotunheim eom vista pömnuria dætur un Asgard. Eka kenna néiat hvat eom ach. -Loki

"You can read this?" I whispered incredulously. "Yes." was her reply. "Here I will translate it." She waves her hand and the letters start arranging themselves into readable script. At the first sentence I knew it would be bad. The translation read:

I have received another threat. I must kill Laufey. I also must destroy Jotunheim to save my daughters and Asgard. I know not what to do. -Loki

We looked at each other in silence. "This just keeps getting better and better." I quipped. "What are we going to do?" Yarnia said as we had said so often lately. "Well," I said, "desperate times calls for desperate measures." Our mouths lifted simultaneously, into our reckless and slightly insane grins. Desperate times indeed.
