Chapter 4: Assassins, Twins, and Mischief Part: 2

Part 2

"Am I cursed?" were the first words out of Father's mouth. Father was completely blue. His eyes were a deep scarlet. I had stopped my thoughts from comprehending what was happening but now I let them free out of pure shock. We were Frost Giants. "No." Grandfather whispered. Father turned and all I could think about is that Father looked amazing. But I was scared, who else knew that we were Frost Giants? Frost Giants were what parents told their children about at night and they were....no we were the enemy. I was drawn back to the drama in the room by Father's desperate cry of, "Tell me!" Grandfather then said, "I thought we could unite our kingdoms one day. Bring about an alliance. Bring about permanent peace, through you." My heart stopped and Father looked crushed. The only reason Father had even been brought into Asgard was to be used as a bargaining chip. Suddenly I noticed Grandfather looking more and more ill and at Father's last words of, "It all makes sense now. Why you favored Thor, all these years! Because no matter how much you claim to love me, you could never have a Frost Giant sitting on your throne of Asgard!", Grandfather collapsed and sank into, as I recognized, the Odinsleep. Yarnia and I looked at each other, we were both numb with shock. I faintly heard Father calling for the guards but it felt like I was in a different world. I shook myself. Now was not the time for going into shock, I chastised myself, get scared later, I added. The guards were rushing Grandfather out of the chamber and I realized that Odin was not my Grandfather but I was, in fact, Laufey's granddaughter. I did not belong to Asgard's royal family but to Jotunheim's. At that thought, we quickly snuck out of the room and into the hallway. Yarnia looked shaken up and I probably looked the same. We were about to leave when we heard a whimper from the room. Yarnia and I looked at each other and our hearts broke. We ran inside to help our Father. But we misjudged it, Father was not where we left him but right by the door. So when we came bursting in Father almost tripped on us. He looked up, startled, "Girls, what are you doing here?" he queried. "We saw guards rushing away with Grandfather from this room." Yarnia improvised. "What happened?" I added. "Fath..I mean the AllFather and I had a," he hesitated, " disagreement." Yarnia and I glanced at each other. We had both caught how he had now said "Allfather" instead of Father. "A pretty loud disagreement from the looks of it." I commented. "Why don't we head back to our chambers." Father suggested. As we were walking Father asked, "How did your meeting with the Warrior's Three and Lady Sif go?" "Well..." I started. He looked at us sharply, "You did not do anything, I hope." "Maybe...." said Yarnia. Father sighed, "Just get on with it." So we recounted what had transpired. After we finished Father gave a bark of laughter. "Well you certainly take after me, but I don't think there can be three gods or goddess of mischief." With a final laugh we walked into our rooms.
