Chapter Eight
The vampire heaved a sigh and licked her bottom lip as her eyes squinted at nothing in particular. Aerwyna was just relieved that she seemed to be coming down from her killing high.
"Oh and don't get me wrong fragile witch, even if there was a hybrid; vampire and demon, I wouldn't hesitate to kill it... Those creatures deserve nothing but my hellish hate! Every demon will die by my hands and none will escape." The resolute gleam in her eyes alerted Aerwyna and she quickly tried to avert the rising rage of the vampire.
"There's a chance your sister still lives, you don't have to kill every single creature." Aerwyna said, taking a step towards her.
"Don't you dare take a step!"
Sure, the vampire lady was cocky and rude, and brute, but this expression was something else, her fangs were already barred, her eyes were as red as rubies and her skin grew paler, not a deathly pale but a deadly one. will Eldric survive in the hands of this vampire?
"A fragile witch like you can't even begin to comprehend... But let me enlighten you...
"...A few centuries ago, Sparta Dynasty, my Homeland was one of the mightiest empires to have existed at the time, but all that changed at the advent of the Tri-War.
My elder brother, a mighty conquerer, greathearted by any creature, hero-worshiped and adorned by many within and outside our Dynasty but a man that makes a character, makes foes. Reckless and gruesome Demons planned and threatened to end our lord's reign by invading our Dynasty and clan. As manful and resolute he was, he wasted no time in strategizing and gathering vampire troops but my dumb-ass humanity took a hold of me and I begged my brother to consider to have a meeting with the demons to know exactly what their bargain was after all demons are known for trading diabolical favors with helpless souls but the aim was to save innocent lives for both species, for my people were already reducing in number and I didn't want us to take any more chances but my fearless brother refused at first but after a second thought he wanted to make me feel like a leader too just like him, so he agreed.
With that, the demons were led into our Dynasty unarmed with the idea of coming for a war free meeting and to run minds together on how to settle our differences and disputes but little did we know that the demons were planning to outsmart us and stab us at our back. My brother was alone with some of the demons in the courtyard, his guards were silently killed by our foes. I spotted some demon troops heading towards our clan for the obvious reason and then I realized I didn't think it through before committing this great blunder. Meanwhile my brother was clearly outnumbered so the demons did something to him and made him fall asleep forever while they conquered my home. It was too late to do anything all I could do was watch, watch how they slayed every single person who fought back including my uncles and aunts, watch how our lord became a sleeping vampire, watch how vampires ran away for their lives like helpless chickens.
All I could think of was one stint and judgement "i am to blame" I sure wanted to fight the demons and get killed in the process but the vampire in me knew that my brother would have wanted me to stay strong for the rest vampires that managed to survive and then I took my brother's half-lifeless body and ran away. After two centuries of finding out there was no cure for my brother all I wanted was to eliminate each and every demon till I die." she froze and took a deep breath like she hasn't being this emotional for a very long time.
It was eerily quiet. For some moment the atmosphere was hushed and tensely restful. Aerwyna's face was full with pity and she had tears in her eyes after the vampire finished telling her all that. "and that was how your humanity switched but what i don't understand is why you want to slaughter an elf who's not even demonic in any way" Aerwyna finally let out.
"I won't hesitate to kill an elf or a witch if that pleases me" the vampire lady tightened her claws on Eldric's neck who must have probably fainted due to the too much drama and tension that have occurred.
"Then why haven't you killed me yet?" Aerwyna moved closer with courage.
"Because Aerwyna i know what you are, i know that you're no ordinary witch but a vampire and witch kind of hybrid" the vampire lady confessed.
"Look i know how it feels to loose someone you love, because my father died before i was born and although my mother portrayed him as an evil vampire i still love him because believe me i understand what it feels like to be a vampire and the sacrifices that comes with it and i'm really sorry for what happened to you but killing my bestfriend won't bring back your brother!" Aerwyna sighed.
"no, you know nothing about how i feel because you never got to know your so called vampire father and my brother was not just my brother, he was our salvation, our strength and our lord so watch as i rip his throat" the vampire lady heaved Eldric's body closer to her.
"Nooo! wait! i-i-i-i-i can help you bring back your brother, i know i'm a hybrid who doesn't know anything about my powers but i promise you i won't stop till i help you bring your brother back. i also have some magical items with me and there must be one of them that could be useful to us just spare his life please" Aerwyna cried out, she had done so much to save Eldric and couldn't afford to loose him this time around.
"Fine" The vampire lady let go of Eldric and she was amazed to see someone as determined and selfless as Aerwyna.
"Eldric i'm so sorry, it was all my fault and you were right there are alot of things my mum is not telling me and why on earth did she have to frame you up?" Aerwyna ran to the floor to Eldric and picked his face up and layed it on her lap and she was glad to save him just on time.
" Ryna you don't have to apologize i'm just glad you realized before it was too late" Eldric struggled to speak as he remained his gaze at her while he drank the water she gave him. He didn't know how to be thankful for not ending up like the rest demons knowing fully well that it was her fault he ended up like this in the first place and he found the vampire lady hot and tempting rather terrifying.
"and where do you think you're going?" Aerwyna stood up to face the arrogant lady who seemed to be on her way out of the mass murder. She could not stand to see their platonic relationship a moment longer.
"don't expect me to watch your little romance hybrid!" the vampire lady paused and gave Aerwyna a wide and devilish smirk.
"For the last time he's my friend and i don't expect you to get that because you don't understand the meaning of friendship and that was why you were being a bitch few minutes ago!" Aerwyna exclaimed and as she gasped for air the sound of her surroundings heightened, everything suddenly became too loud for her. The sound of birds chirping and the sound of Eldric's heartbeat. This was the first time she experienced one of her vampire side since a year ago after her mother, Agnes forbade her from using her vampire qualities. Yes, she is definitely far from not using her vampire powers.
"And i'm glad you're getting to know the heart on my sleeve and by the way i'm not a bitch i'm Drusilla by name"
