Chapter 15

Venom's P.O.V.

A quarter-moon had gone by. Twoleg monsters were making thunderpaths already, and nests too. We watched them closely, hoping none would raid on us.

The camp was starting to darken as the sun went down. Cats in the camp were pacing, worry filling their meows. "What are we going to do now? What are we going to do if they come and attack us?" Shell wailed. "If we just watch them tear our territory, we'll have to leave!" Sunny fretted, lashing her tail. Fawn shrunk down to the ground, away from the cats and watched them panic. "The Tribe's going to end! This is it! We're all dead!" Whip yowled in fright, running around the camp.

Slash put out a paw and tripped his brother, watching him roll. Bella watched in amusement, her whiskers twitching. Whip got up and fluffed out his pelt, turning tail and attacking his brother.

I ran up to the my den and climbed up. I yowled, "Hey! Settle down every cat!" They whipped their heads towards me and sat down. "I won't tolerate this nonsense any longer. I have an idea.

"If we can just scare away the dogs and make them think it isn't safe for their kits, then maybe they will leave,"

"Twolegs won't be scared of us cats!" Mini called up to me. "They aren't even scared of dogs!" I dipped my head in understanding and listened to Sunny when she began to speak, "But if we scare off their animals, make weird sounds in the night and leave the skeletons of the dead fresh-kill, maybe they will leave or at least stop working." Sunny suggested. I nodded a few times, liking the the idea. "It might just work." I murmured mostly to myself. 'This is going to be good,'

"Alright! Listen up. This is what we'll do," I called to them, making them listen up once again. "Okay, so from now on, only one patrol will go on a border patrol, going to the Tribe of Jagged Rocks and WindClan's all in one. Only about four or five hunting patrols per day." I explained. Cats were nodding in agreement, eager to hear what else will happen.

"And once we finish our prey, make a pile of the bones beside it. We will leave them on their grass everywhere. Also, at night, we will make yowling sounds and other noises to wake them. And any time we see a dog around, we will take it down, either killing it or making it run off." I finished. My cats listening were lashing their tails in excitement, practicing their swipes in preparation for the battle with the dogs.

"We will start once the nests are fully made." I decided, standing up and jumping down to get into my cave.

2 Moons Later. . .

Blossom's P.O.V.

"Alright, is everyone awake?" Venom called down to us. "I'll go check," Midnight meowed, quickly trotting off into the warriors den, then to the apprentices den and came back nodding. "Okay. This is the first night. We've all practiced our stalking skills, loud yowls and extra fighting skills." Venom meowed from the the top of his den. "Scar, take it away with who's going with who." Scar nodded, standing up.

"The first patrol will take the bones to their nests' entrances. Sunny, lead that patrol with Whip, Bella and Kink. Try to get to as many as you can, come back for more if you need to." Scar instructed. Sunny gathered up the cats and headed off to the pile of bones beside the fresh-kill pile. "And remember, spread them through out the grassy territory they have," Venom called as they padded off into the night.

"The next patrol will be the one to make the loud yowling sounds." Scar announced, "I will lead it with Mini, Shadow and Mystery. Wait until I am done before you go." They gathered each other up and stood of to the side, waiting to leave. "Venom will lead the dog attack with us." "My patrol will wait for any dog that comes out of the entrance of the den and attack it," Venom explained quickly.

Scar nodded, "Do you want to choose who goes with you?" He muttered to Venom. He shook his head, "Blossom, Dodger and Thorn, you'll be going with Venom." Venom announced.

My eyes widened in shock, 'Me? Go fight against dogs? Why didn't they choose Soot or Fox? Oh great Tribe of Glittering Stars!' It was a huge shock to be picked to be in that group. I wasn't the best at the fighting.

"My patrol, we will leave in a few heartbeats after Scar's patrol leaves."

Blossom's P.O.V.

"Alright, Midnight, your in charge. We have waited long enough. Lets get going." Venom announced, leading the way out of camp. Venom said only a few heartbeats, but he must've meant millions of them because he took way longer then he had said.

We silently padded down the trail and out of our territory. From the small bits of snow that we got before we left, the sky had a bunch of clouds here and there. I shivered as a cold breeze ruffled up my patched fur. "Burr, this leaf-bare is going to be even more crazy when more snow comes," I muttered gravely.

The twoleg nests came into view after a few more long heartbeats. "Now. Remember. Wait for them to make the yowling noises, then go for the dog." Venom whispered, then kept going.

It was a very short time later when we spotted Scar's patrol. "Scar, have you done this house yet?" He shook his head. "No. We waited for you." 'They waited? All that time?' I asked myself. "Go ahead and do your job then," Venom demanded the patrol. They dipped their heads and took a deep breath, all four of the cats let out a yowl, their shrieking voices traveling to the house. The twoleg's light flashed on as they kept going.

They stopped for a breather and watched as the twoleg flung the door open. "Spread out!" Venom hissed. Mini ran off with Shadow and Mystery went the opposite way. "We will help," Venom insisted and Scar nodded. I ran towards Mystery. I halted beside him. He was crouched under a branch around the twolegs territory. "Your helping?" He whispered. I nodded a few times then waited for Mystery to start before I did too.

I let out a piercing yowl, my lungs loosing air at every note. I stopped to get a little bit of air, my throat burning already, and continued.

Mystery and I stopped after a little while longer and heard a dog barking. Then another. "They must have two dogs," I whispered. Mystery nodded, "They must. Or it could be the other twoleg beside it with a dog." I nodded then flicked my tail for him to follow. I ran back the way I came and slid to a stop when Venom's body came close enough. "Lets go." Venom meowed emotionless, not making eye contact. We dashed off towards the dogs' barking sound and attacked with unsheathed claws and bared teeth, lips curled in a snarl.

And so, the fight between twolegs begun.

Fox's P.O.V.

I sighed as I watched Venom's patrol leave. 'How come I don't get to go? That should be me! Not Blossom!' I grunted. "Not fair," I slumped my shoulders and watched the Tribe go back to sleep. "Soot, Fox, come here." Midnight called from the fresh-kill pile.

Soot stopped in his tracks from going to the warrior's den and turned around to get to Midnight. I trotted over also and sat in front of him. "Yes?" Soot and I said at the same time. "Well, since everyone else is gone and I have to stay here to keep an eye, you two need to go hunting for me." Midnight explained. We dipped our heads and padded away without another word spoken.

The night's sky still had little bits of cloud here and there, but not enough to cause rain or snow. "I'm sick of snow, I hope we don't get anymore until next leaf-bare!" I complained. "Oh well. If the Tribe of Glittering Stars wants us to have snow, then so be it." He meowed. "Oh for crying out loud, Soot! Your not a wise cat! Stop acting like one." I hissed at him. He rolled his eyes and kept walking.

The only sounds around were the sounds of our paws crunching in the fluffy, new snow. A fresh layer started just before we slept and finished as we woke. "Well, if we are to catch enough prey for them when they get back, then we have to be quiet." Soot pointed out. I nodded, "But queens first. They have the kits which could be the future of our Tribe." "Yes, good point Fox."

Soot stopped and sniffed the air, taking in a slow, but big, gulp of air. His eyes brightened up, telling me he had smelt something near by. "Follow me," he whispered, stalking around the boulders and halting behind a small one. I got a whiff of a sparrow near by as we stopped. Peeking around the boulder, I saw a small bird pecking at the snow, distracted. I slowly crept forwards but Soot dashed at the bird, making the sparrow turn its head in surprise. But before it could fly away, Soot slashed at its head sideways and it tumbled over. Stunded, Soot attacked it and killed it under his weight's pressure. Bringing it over in his jaws, I dipped my head. "Great job, Soot," I praised lightly. "Thanks," He mumbled back, his voice a bit muffled by the birds' feathers.

Padding away, we headed towards behind the camp, where Venom said that he had fallen. I stopped to sniff the air, just to see if there was anything near. The slightest scent of mouse came from a rock's crack, sending me silently searching for the prey. I narrowed my eyes as I scanned the rocks. I saw a nose peek out of one and I backed away, behind a few small rocks. I waited patiently for it to sneak out; it must've gotten scared and hidden.

The small creature crawled out and ran over to a small puddle in the ground, and drank out of it. I crept out of my hiding spot and stalked up behind it. But just as I went to jump at it, a big sound of snapping crackled through the air. The mouse spun around and darted away, towards the crack it came out of. I darted after it, but just before I could get to it, it was already in the rock again.

"Fox-dung!" I hissed, hitting the crack with my front paw. "Well, at least we have a sparrow," Soot mewed sympathetically behind me. I growled low, clenching my teeth and stalking away with my shoulders slumped. "You wouldn't be too happy if you lost a mouse to the twolegs." I groaned. "Um, Fox, that wasn't the twolegs, it was a branch. The snow was too heavy on it and it snapped." Ignoring him, I lifted my head and tried again. No such luck. "Lets try around the boulders again." Soot suggested. "How about we sneak into WindClan's territory for a few rabbits?" I mewed. "Fox, we can't! We're not aloud to go in some cat else's territory. If they catch us, we're dead! And I mean literally dead!" Soot warned, blocking the way to go. I rolled my eyes, 'Like they would kill us. They know they would face huge consequences.' "Alright, mister scaredy mouse, fine. Lets head to the edge of out territory. I'll take some other cat with me for some adventure." I sneered.

Dodger's P.O.V.

Padding into the camp, tail high, I watched as Midnight padded up to greet us. "How was it?" He mewed, walking beside me as I kept going. "It was good, only a few of us got injured with more then scratches." I explained. Leaf then emerged from her den with withered leaves in her mouth. Turning back to Midnight, I mewed, "Wheres Deer?" He shrugged lightly then murmured, "I think shes sleeping. She should be, anyway. I mean, here else would she've gone?" "Not sure, I though you'd know," I purred.

After a moment of silence, I sighed. "Well, I'm going to go tell her how it was," He nodded and watched as Leaf did her job and Venom took my place as I left. I trotted through the darkness and into the warrior's den. I stepped over the sleeping cats dotted here and there in their nests. I got to Deer's nest and gasped in shock.

Deer was gone.
