Chapter 12
~Berry's P.O.V.~
Jumper and Claw were eating in front of me talking about none sense. What mouse-brains.
After a while of just sitting there, watching them talk about stuff I didn't care about, Jumper gasped. "I have an idea! Lets do something so amazing that we will become warriors in no time at all!" He whispered. Claw nodded, "Alright, lay it on me." Claw meowed then turned to me, "Berry, listen up because your coming too." I grunted and pricked my ears, straitening my back.
"You know how Blizzard's body was never found and Shadow isn't happy anymore, right?" We nodded. "Well, she fell down the river and we should find her! It won't be that hard," Jumper explained, whispering. His eyes glinted in excitement.
"All we have to do is find a way down, find her and find a way back up with her carcass! Or even her body alive!" Claw shrugged, "Sounds good to me. We need to bring some prey for her, just in case. Berry, sounds good to you?" They turned to me, I sighed. 'Was there even a way out? Maybe we could find her body. It's worth a shot. '
I nodded slowly, not making eye contact. "Sure," they continued with the plan. "We will leave as soon as its moon-high," Claw meowed. "And catch a rabbit or something for her starving body. And if shes dead, we can take it back to Shadow and let him be happy."
"I don't know guys... If we bring back her dead body, that won't make Shadow happy." Jumper shrugged, "Then we will bring back her skull and give it to him." I nodded, 'Sounds like a good plan to me.'

The snow that was blowing though the camp was no longer whizzing through the clearing as we awoke to look for Blizzard. The moon was no more then a half and it had a ring around it, meaning snow was coming soon. Little bits of cloud covered the sky as I waited for Jumper to get Claw up.
I watched the clouds as they strolled across the sky in no hurry at all to get anywhere. My eyes were already drowsy enough with the soft snoring of the cats and the low breathing sounds as the cats around me slept peacefully in there nests and the peaceful sky made it even worse.
The snow was beginning to crust my fur and the wetness of it began to seep into my pelt. I stood up and shook out my pelt, quickly grooming myself as Jumper and Claw came out and stretched their tired limbs.
Once I finished, I yawned and waited for Jumper and Claw to finish their grooming. They finished and Jumper led the way out of camp.
We ran out of camp and Jumper led us to the river where we bordered with The Tribe of Jagged Rocks
"So, how are we suppose to get over there now, mister smarty-fur?" I snapped, ears flat. I watched as Jumper went to the edge. He looked back at us over his shoulder. "There are ledges down below. We can use them." Claw nodded, "Lets go before someone notices we're gone and comes in search of us."
I trotted in beside Jumper and looked down. "Oh no, oh no, no, no! I am not climbing down there!" I fretted, backing away.
"Ha, to bad scaredy-mouse, you are. Move!" Jumper nudged me unfriendly and I took a few deep breaths. I turned around and backed up until my paws went off the edge. I used all my strength not to let go and to hold myself up.
I slid down to the ledge and my heart lurched in fright as I landed. I moved aside so Jumper and Claw could land beside me. My heart pounded like an eagle flapping its wings in my ear.
I let myself calm down a bit before sliding down to the next. It was less farther down then expected and it had more room. I looked up and saw Jumper waiting for Claw to come down. I risked a look down and once I saw how far it was, I nearly fainted. I looked back up at Jumper and Claw and saw they both were coming down at the same time. I decided to wait for them.
"Alright," Jumper began once he sat in beside me. "Berry, keep going until you get to the bottom of this waterfall. We won't be far away." I nodded shakily and jumped to the next ledge. It was far enough out of the rocky wall for me to jump onto. Gravity pulled me down into a crouch and then I made myself jump back into the wall. Gasping in relief that I hadn't fallen, I kept going.
I kept going and going until there were no more ledges left. I saw that the waterfall came to an end only a about five to seven tail-lengths away from where I stood. "Should I jump down?" I called to them. "Yes, we will be down there soon!" He called back. Before I even thought f how I was supposed to get down, I jumped. I lunged off of the ledge and the ground came closer in only mere heartbeats. I held my breath, realizing that it was water, no rocky ground.
I made my legs go straight out and I aimed for the middle, where no rocks poked out. I held my breath and closed my eyes, plunging into the ice cold water legs first. I fought to hold my breath and I opened my eyes.
It was so cold and dark down there from loss of sunlight. I slashed my unsheathed paws at the water, desperate to see the air.
I struggled to swim up, my legs flailing through the liquid.
I tore my legs through the water but I wasn't getting anywhere. "Run, move your legs like you're running," A voice ordered. It was unfamiliar but I did so anyway. I used my legs like I was running, imagining I was on flat ground and I started to go toward the surface.
I coughed a few times before I felt flat rock on the pads of my paws. I climbed onto the rock and laid down. I heard a splash and soon after, another splash.
I looked over my shoulder and I didn't see anyone but bubbles. I soon realized it was Jumper and Claw. They couldn't swim.
I dove into the water and grabbed a hold of Claw's scruff and pulled him up to the surface, quickly swimming backwards to the flat rock. I dove in again for Jumper. As quick as I possibly could, I found Jumper's flailing body and pulled him up to the surface and over to the rock where Claw was now sitting.
Jumper coughed a bit and shook out his pelt, grooming quickly. Jumper gasped, "We didn't get Blizzard any fresh-kill!" I groaned. "Oh well, if she is alive, we can catch something down here for her." Jumper opened his mouth to argue then closed it again.
"Well, we're here... Lets look around." Claw meowed. We stayed together and padded lightly into the cave. I looked around for a body of some sorts but all I could really see was darkness. Just as I turned my head, I saw a bright light shining down on a black body with white spots.
"Blizzard!" I exclaimed, running to her side and going around her body to see her face. Her eyes were gone and her body was as skinny as a twig. Her ribs showed and the stench of death clung to her so much that not even Leaf's herbs could wash it away. There was barely any fur or skin on her at all. Since there are barely any bugs around the Tribe, she still has remaining flesh. But if there were more she would be only bones.
I prodded her stomach, just in case she was still alive. But she only moved when I touched her, her body was completely frozen. Cold like the water. I crouched down to her and touched what was left of her nose. Her fur was still wet; even after all these years her fur is still damp. She must've died of starvation or she froze.
I looked up at Jumper and Claw. "She's dead," They nodded their heads with no retorts or anything. I looked in between the two toms and a figure was standing in the entrance. "Blizzard," I muttered under my breath.
I ran over to her and just as I came to her, she touched noses with me and instantly I was blacked out.
Water surrounded me and I screamed in the water. The frozen water was burning my flesh and I forced my body to the surface with a huge kick from the bottom of the pit of water. I had no control over what I did, I could only see, hear and feel.
I swam to ground and coughed up water until my last meal came up as well. I groaned in pain and I limped to the cave. My body wouldn't stop shivering from the cold. The waterfall was all I could hear and it was starting to bother me. "Blizzard! Blizzard, are you okay?!" It sounded like Shadow, but younger.
My teeth chattered and I couldn't stop to call back. My stomach was empty and my body was freezing. Snow was piling at the entrance of the small cave and the water I had fallen in had a layer of ice over top, except where I had fallen in.
I laid down weakly and curled up. 'In the morning it'll be warmer, Shadow will come for me and I will be alright.' A voice reassured. It wasn't a voice I had heard before, but it sounded like the one that told me how to swim. It was Blizzard.
Closing my eyes, I fell into a deep slumber, and never woke up.
I watched unconsciously as days went by and Blizzard's body deceased and all her flesh began to fall off a birds and flies picked at it. Her fur stayed in place but as seasons went by, her body froze and thawed. Never to be found.
I gasped, becoming conscious again. I looked around and saw Jumper and Claw in front of me. "You stopped breathing! Your eyes went grey! You were like... dead! What happened?!" Jumper gasped, shock flooding his gaze. "Yeah! You were frozen and we couldn't get you to move!" Claw annouced, his jaw open wide.
"I-I saw Blizzard, her spirit and I touched her and I saw how she died. She thought Shadow was coming back for her but he never did..." I whispered, looking over my shoulder at Blizzard.
Jumper and Claw ignored what I said, they were more excited about me being dead and coming back alive. "She was like... frozen! Berry, you died and came back! That was awesome!" Jumper mewed, but all I could think of was Blizzard and how her spirit couldn't rest.
Then the two stopped talking. Claw gasped, "Now what? We're stuck down here!" Jumper quieted him down while I thought of a way out. "We could try to climb out." I suggested. We all looked to the rocks that the waterfall came down through.
"Great! Just great! We're stuck down here! Great job Jumper! You got us into this mouse-brained mess, now get us out!" Claw yowled, his voice echoing in the small cave.
"Calm down, Claw. This pool has to go out somehow, right? Well then there has to be a way out for us then." I meowed. My mind flashed to the pool, it was much smaller then now. This cave is going to keep filling until it over flows. "This pool is going to keep filling until it over flows, there is no home at all." I growled, narrowing my eyes at the way we came in. "We're dead. We are so very, very dead." Claw murmured, pacing at the waters edge.
While Claw went crazy and Jumper searched, I went ahead and took Blizzard's skull. I looked at the waterfall and attempted to climb out. I scratched at the rock at I jumped but it was no use. I had to be standing on someone of something in order to actually get up there. Feeling grossed out I tore what was left of Blizzard's skin and everything in and out of it and washed it in the water. 'Here goes nothing.' I left some skin so Shadow knew who it was.
Before I changed my mind, I set it on my head. It was just big enough to slip over my head. I looked up at the way we came in but it was too high.
Then an idea came in mind.
Boulders.
I ran to a group of boulders and pushed them to the rock. I piled them up as best as I could and attempted to climb that way. Just a few more boulders and I could make it.

~Whip's P.O.V.~
I blinked open my eyes just as dawn light started to flicker through the trees as clouds covered the sky. I straightened and looked to my side to see that Slash was the only apprentice in the nursery, along with me. ,
I creeped out of the nursery and saw tracks leading down the trail. I hurried and noticed that no cat was awake yet, surprisingly. I followed the tracks down to the river where The Tribe of Jagged Rocks was separated from us.
I noticed that they led to the edge and I looked down. No sign of them what so ever. I looked back at the camp to see if anyone had followed me and yowled down to the water below, "Claw! Berry! Jumper! Are you guys down there?" I strained to listen to them and craned my neck down further, pricking my ears up.
I couldn't hear them, but I knew they were down there. "What?" I screeched to them. The waterfall was so loud that I could barely hear them, "Help us! . . . Stuck!" They yelped. I got the message and called down. "I will get help! Stay put!" Just as I left, I saw a flash of black in the sky. 'Oh no,' "Hawk! Be careful, it's coming!" I yowled, running back to camp for help.
Time seemed to slow down as I burst into the camp. Cats were starting to wake up and Slash was relieved to see me. But I went right by him, heading to Venom's den. "Venom! Venom!" I yowled, out of breath. I ran into his cave and panted, "Claw. . . Berry. . . Jumper. . . Down the. . . Water. . . Waterfall," That was all I managed to get out. He growled and ran past me. "Just what I needed, more cats to save." He muttered under his breath.
"Cats old enough to kill gather to hear my words." He announced calmly, "Claw, Jumper and Berry have gone down the waterfall for some odd reason, I'm not sure why. They are stuck and need our help. Who's good at climbing rocks?"

~Berry's P.O.V.~
I slashed at the rock. I was the only one able to get up the first huge boulder, for the rocks tumbled down once I had gotten up. And now, just our luck. A hawk was on its way for us and we had no way to get out.
I looked back down at Jumper and Claw. "Great! Just great. Thanks to Jumper here, Claw and I are stuck down here and are now a feast for the stupid bird coming for us!" I spat at Jumper. He shrunk away from my tone of voice. "And who do we have to thank? You. All you Jumper! you mouse-brained tail-chaser!" I yowled at him. "So Jumper, we are no longer friends. I hope you rot in The Tribe of Bleeding Souls!" I slouched my shoulders as I sat on the rock, just waiting for the bird to take me away.
Jumper's eyes went cold and he didn't so much as apologize. I turned my back to him and lashed my tail. Either he hadn't heard me or he just doesn't care, because he didn't answer.
"Well, there is no use in fighting. Jumper help me build these rocks again." Claw meowed. I got up and slowly made my way to the boulders and pushed them over to the rock. I took smaller rocks and set them on the rock the best I could and climbed onto the big rock. I jumped up and clawed at the rock wall with my hind claws and scratched at the rock's surface, trying to pull myself up.
It didn't work so I jumped down and grabbed a few more rocks and tried again.
Finally, after another try, I pulled my body up and looked up to see cats at the edge. I waved my tail in the air. "We're here! Down here!" I yowled at the top of my lungs. I looked down to the struggling apprentices and saw that Jumper was helping Claw up. "Berry, what's with your head? Do you have... Blizzard's skull on?" Claw gasped, and he was lifted onto the same ledge.
I rolled my eyes and saw that the bird was perched in a tree. 'Oh no...' The bird hopped off the tree and flapped its wings towards the cats on the edge.
I looked back down at Jumper. He flung himself onto the huge boulder I stood on and attempted to climb on. He wasn't as big as me yet.
I watched as the cats up above slammed the bird down and looked down at me again. I waved my tail, trying to signal them. "Help! We're stuck!" I yelled to them.
"We're coming!" They screeched, their voice echoing in the hollow cave, which is good since we are such a great distance away.
Jumper leaped up onto the ledge I stood on and Claw crouched down. I stood on his back and jumped onto the next ledge, clawing my way onto it. Jumper lifted Claw up too and he tried to jump up, grabbing the ledge with his front claws. His hind legs scratched at the bottom of the ledge and Claw grabbed his scruff. "What are you, part rabbit?" I teased. "I'm not sure, I don't remember my mother." He growled and I looked away. The smell in this skull was horrible. I'm going to smell like death for moons.
With two big boulders to get me up, I could get up with no problem. Jumper came and held the rocks in place, Claw holding the other side, and I jumped up, safely crossing to the last, and most biggest, rock of all.
There was no possible way for us to get up with such a tall rock.
I searched for a ledge for me to jump up onto but there was only one on the other side of the water fall. I knew that if we tried, one of us was bound to fall off. But there was little bits of ledge on it where I might be able to climb up.
'Great, just great!' I cursed to myself. I didn't want to risk it. I ran to the waterfall crossing and I put a paw in. It seemed shallow enough to keep me above water. I stepped in and saw how bad the current was, and with that, I hopped over the rushing water. Barely making it, I watched Claw come up. The steep ledge was beside me and I looked up. It would take me directly to the next one.
Once they both got up I grabbed the smallest ledge in my claws and pulled myself up farther and farther. I looked behind me and my heart leaped and I gasped, almost falling off. Claw was coming up and Jumper was waiting for him to move.
I kept climbing until the small ledges were gone and I had to jump into the next ledge. "Get to the ledge after that and I can get you!" Venom yowled down to me, making me almost jump out of my fur.
I put my hind legs on the ledges and carefully set my paws on the steep ledge. I prepared my legs and I jumped with all my might onto the ledge. The edge of the ledge was sharp and I fought to get up, cutting my chest and front legs.
I groaned and clawed at the wall of rock, but I could barely get to it. I scratched at the top of the ledge, my heart pounding and my eyes wide. I grabbed a crack in the ledge and I pulled myself up.
I pushed myself to the wall of rock and calmed myself down. 'That was close... So, so close...'
The small pain in my legs and chest didn't seem to matter as the 'what if' questions came into mind. Claw leaped at the ledge and I quickly grabbed his scruff and lifted him up. He slid in beside me and asked, "What's the matter?"
"I fell and scratched my legs." I replied, decided to not tell him I was scared. "Are you okay to keep going, though?" Claw asked. I nodded and jumped up to the small ledge.
The waterfall's noisy sounds were annoying me and I fought to push it to the back of my mind as I slowly made my way to the ledges where I had jumped. I looked up and gasped. Whipping around and wailing down to them, "Jumper, Claw," they looked up from what they were doing, anxious to hear what I had to say. "It's a dead end!"
