The Coffee

Marinette Dupain-Chang liked to sleep.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng loved to sleep.

However, Marinette Dupain-Cheng never got enough sleep.

Night akumas we're getting more prevalent, especially during ungodly hours, commissions were coming by the galore, and with the added Baccalauréat exams on the horizon, sleep had been placed on the back burner, she'd only get it when she passed out. So, here she was, running on three hours sleep in the past twenty four hours ready to take on the day.

Ok, perhaps 'take on the day' was a little extreme, but at least she had made it to lycée on time.

"Um ... Mari, I think you need to ... um?"

Alya took the jacket off that she was wearing and slung it over Marinette's shoulders, making sure it was pulled tight at the front.

"Wha-" Marinette looked into her friend's eyes to see the concern.

"Let's go to the bathroom."

Alya guided a sluggish Marinette through the corridors and to the restrooms.

"Alya? What are you-"

Whipping the jacket off, Alya turned Marinette to the mirror.

The raven haired girl gasped and crossed her arms over her chest before running into a stall.

"Oh my God, oh my God." Marinette's voice screeched through the room, as she hurried to button up her shirt correctly.

Alya couldn't hold back the laughter leaving her mouth. There was something so funny about Marinette being Ladybug. She could forgive people for not guessing, after all the two could be polar opposites at times.

The door to the restroom slammed open revealing a very angry Lila. Her face quickly switched to sugary sweetness as she saw Alya standing in front of the mirror.

"Oh Alya, have you seen Marinette around at all? I've put a coffee on her desk as I know she's been working hard this week. Adrien told me all about it yesterday."

Alya raised an eyebrow at the world class liar and let out a scoffed laugh.

"Yeah, ok," she responded.

Marinette opened the cubicle door looking a lot more put together than five minutes ago. Brushing her skirt down she walked forward stopping in front of Lila.

"Move out the way," Marinette's eyes were barely open, struggling to focus on anything.

"Oh Marinette, do you need some help? Maybe you should go home? I can sit in your seat and keep Alya company."

Marinette looked between Alya and Lila. The laughter came strong and hard, her arms wrapping around her stomach to control the cramps.

"Good one," Marinette stated before patting Lila on the head, "your hair is so fluffy." She moved out of the restroom, headed towards class.

Lila hurried behind Marinette and Alya making it known that she was worried about Marinette's tiredness and that the 'poor girl' was taking on too much for her little body to keep up with. What Lila didn't know was Marinette was one 'little body' away from smashing her teeth in.

Walking into class Marinette saw Adrien face down on the table, and low and behold, there was actually a coffee cup on Marinette's spot.

"How many hours?" Marinette stopped next to Adrien and looked at the broken boy.

"Two. I had extra piano practise this morning."

Marinette groaned and made her way up to her seat before slamming her own head onto the table.

"Marinette, don't forget to drink the coffee. It won't taste any good cold, it is a very very special blend."

Lila's voice grated into Marinette's skull before it was joined with voices of other members of the class calling for her to drink it, and that Lila was so kind and caring.

Marinette looked up at the crowd around her. Nothing like peer pressure, she thought. With a small smile she took the coffee cup and put it to her lips. It was actually pretty good.

"Thank you Lila," she said through clenched teeth.

The crowd, obviously happy with Marinette's reaction, dispersed to their seats leaving Lila smirking at Marinette.

"Have a fun day, Marinette." Lila flipped her hair and walked back to her desk. Marinette noticed there was a second cup and it was waiting for her.

"Oh my, who did this for me?" She said, hand on heart and acting like it was the nicest gesture anyone had ever done.

Mumbling took over the room as Marinette noticed Adrien's hand go up above his head, which was still firmly planted on the table.

"Oh Adrien, you remembered how tired I was after our shoot yesterday. You are just the sweetest." She grabbed the drink from the table and took a big gulp. "My favourite coffee too, Adrien, you care so much about me."

A mumbled 'whatever' sounded from the boy still crashed out on the table at the front of the classroom. Marinette leaned forward and slapped him around the back of the head.

"What did you do that for?" She hissed.

"Firstly, ouch. Secondly, well, I had a coffee which you are now drinking and thirdly -"

A groan was heard from the back of the classroom, from the very classmate Adrien had delivered a drink to.

She groaned again a little bit louder and threw one hand in the air.

"Ms. Bustier, can I use the restroom please?"

The sentence was followed by a rather loud fart causing everyone to turn and face the liar.

"Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous." Chloé called out, as everyone else broke into fits of giggles.

"Ms. Bustier, please," Lila stood up, face as red as Marinette's super suit and began to run out of the room.

The laughing continued and Adrien finally lifted his head, speaking to the disappearing Lila.

"No one messes with my bug."

"Oh, Kitty, what would I do without you?"

"You'd bee in a bit of a mess."

"You really are the purrfect partner."

Marinette let out a giggle stretching forward to stroke Adrien's hair. Alya grabbed her arm and pulled it back over to her side of the table, attempting to shhh the two heroes before they dropped themselves in it.

"What are you two on today?" Nino looked at a grinning Adrien, noticing his friend had suddenly gone a little cross eyed.

The day continued.

Lila running to the toilet, Adrien and Marinette on the verge of outing themselves, Alya stopping them before they did something stupid like fight the akuma aka the school janitor and, now, the girls were sitting in Marinette's room as she attempted for the forty-seventh time to thread her needle. Tongue hanging out her mouth and eyes scrunched in concentration.

"Hey Marinette, truth or dare?" Alya asked. The raven haired girl let out a small giggle.

"Oh how fun, a game. I pick 'truth'!"

"How many hours have you slept this week?"

"...Dare"

"Go to bed."

"I don't like this game."
