I finished helping set up the band equipment and made sure everything worked.
I headed inside, meaning to go up to my room, when I saw Colton stumbling into the wall, completely drunk.
"Are you okay?" I asked walking over to him.
"Never been better." He slurred as a bruise formed on his head and blood dripped down from his nose.
I couldn't just leave him like this, could I?
Sighing, I helped Colton off the floor and up the stairs. I lead him to my personal bathroom that connects to my bedroom.
"Wash yourself up." I ordered, throwing him a wash cloth.
From there, I went into my room and turned on the microphone, and gave Selena a thumbs up from the window, before hurriedly backing away, so nobody saw me.
There was no spoken intro as Jack began strumming the beat to the song Zombie originally sang by the Cranberries, following him came Everyone else.
And then it was my turn.
"Another head hangs lowly

A couple of cheers erupted from below, and I assumed that ment we were doing good.
I continued singing the song, and it felt wonderful.
I imagined myself at the head of the band instead of Selena. I was singing loud and proud, swaying with the music with my eyes closed. I was a superstar, this was who I was supposed to be and everyone was cheering me on.
But when I opened my eyes, I was back to being the real me: covering for my sister and hiding in her shadows.
I turned around and let out a deep breath, I looked up and saw Colton in my doorway that lead to the bathroom.
Crap! I forgot that he was up here.
"You-your good." He slurred. And then collapsed onto the floor, into a deep sleep.
At least I didn't have to worry about him blabbing this to everyone, and who knows, maybe he'll be too drunk to remember that he even saw me singing.
The next song started.

And finally there would be a ten minute break before we sang my original song.
I raced downstairs to get a drink, my throat was a little soar from all of the singing.
I skipped the alcohol and went straight for the little drumstick icecream cones in the freezer.

"Hey." Elijah said walking up to me with a bottle of water.
"Hi." I replied, licking my treat.
"So Selena's voice miraculously changed for the better." He commented.
"Yeah, I know. Isn't that great?"
"It'd be great if it was actually her voice. You don't go from sounding like a paper shredder on steroids to singing like an angel with a flip of a switch.
"Oh, you know, some people do better under pressure." I said, suddenly nervous. Did he figure out what was going on?
"True. Or some people have there little sister sing for them with an extra mic, hidden in their bedroom."
Yep. He figured it out.
"Please don't say anything." I begged Elijah. "It was my idea, I couldn't let Selena embarrass herself in front of everyone."
"What about you? You deserve to be the lead singer. And no one is stupid. When Selena goes back to singing awful at practice, their going to figure out what's up. And then both of you will be embarrassed."
"I just couldn't-"
"You have to stand up to your sister. You can't keep kissing her ass and covering up for her. Look at you, I really hate to say it, but the outfit she picked out for you makes you look like a slut. And you know it to, but you can't tell her no, can you." Elijah went on.
I hadn't realized I was holding my breath until I let out a really long angry breath.
And I slapped him across the face.
He looked at me in shock, as I started to walk away.
"Bri- wait! I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that to you."
I felt hot tears start to form in my eyes. I couldn't talk, otherwise I'd end up crying.
I just continued to walk away. It was almost time for me to sing.
When I got back to my room, I had calmed down enough that I was no longer on the verge of tears.
Colton was awake, laying on my bed, and lauging.
"What's so funny?" I asked.
"Youuuu lovveee him!" Colton laughed.
"I don't love Elijah. We are just friends." I blurted out.
"Who's Elijah? I ment Jack. Jackie boy Jack!" He laughed some more.
Of course he ment Jack! Duh. I don't even know why I even thought about Elijah, it was probably because of the fight we just had.
I felt guilty for hitting him.
Elijah's words played through my head as I walked to the mic.
I entertained the idea of turning it off, going downstairs, and drinking a beer or something, and then telling my sister she can screw off.
But that's not the kind of person I was.
I picked up the microphone and when the music played, I began to sing.
