16: Do you want to go on a date with me?
Elijah refused to leave my side, so he tagged along in the ambulance all the way to the hospital where we were at now.
My sister had stayed behind to speak to the police and Jack was still chasing after Sebastian as far as I could tell.
"What happened?" Elijah asked, after the doctor had informed me about my two cracked ribs and a concussion and left.
"That guy was forcing himself on Selena, so I just.....attacked." I told him.
Elijah only nodded his head, his expression hard and unreadable.
I looked up at the tiled ceiling above me. How did I always find myself in these messes?
Tears gathered at the corner of my eyes threatening to spill out onto my face. I was still so upset and frustrated. Despite all my attempts to attack Sebastian he managed to run off unscathed while I lay here in the hospital.
"Hey," Elijah whispered in a soft voice, holding my hand. "Its over now."
I only nodded as the silent tears slipped down my face. He's right. Selena is in one piece, and I am in the hospital getting together, and I'm sure Jack will catch that Sebastian guy, Selena did say that they had been friends after all.
I was released from the hospital later that night, my sister and Elijah road back to our house with me.
When we got home, Selena ordered me to bed, while she talked to our parents on the phone, who were currently in Thailand.
Elijah walked with me up to my room never taking his eyes off of me. It was like he was afraid I would break to pieces.
I just looked down at the ground, that feeling of shame overwhelming me again, like the time that Victor hit me.
Why am I so pathetic?
I crawled into bed, and Elijah tucked me in like I was some three year old waiting to hear a bedtime story
"Get some sleep." Elijah ordered.
I nodded my head, before ducking under my covers, feeling powerless and weak.
"Goodnight," Elijah said a few moments later before shutting off the light and walking out of my room.
Despite how exhausted I felt, sleep would not come to me. Instead I layed under the covers eyes open, wide awake.
I heard someone walk up to my room and whisper my name.
I didn't move. I really wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone without having a mental break down in the process.
"I caught him. He's going to jail, that asshole is. He is going to get what he has coming for attacking you and your sister."
I sat up and looked over at my doorway. You could see Jack's body outlined by the light shining in from the hallway.
I nodded my head at him and mouthed thank you, and before I knew it, Jack was sitting next to me, hugging me.
I hugged him back, even thought pain shot up through my rib cage at the slight pressure.
I was in literal heaven. Jack Ferguson was hugging me. "I wont let anyone hurt you again." He promised me, whispering in my ears.
I buried my head between his shoulder and neck, not trusting myself respond.
The moment didnt last long when Jack pulled away seconds later, telling me to get some sleep. Then he was gone, and I was back in the same predicament, laying tired yet sleepless in the bed.
************************************
Monday I was back at school eating lunch in the Cafeteria with Andrea and Elijah.
"Why did she even go out with that guy anyways?" Andrea asked me.
"I don't know, I guess it was to make Jack jealous." I informed her eating some apple slices.
We were talking about the fight that happened on halloween.
"Well it seems to have worked." Andrea said rolling her eyes.
"Really" Elijah asked. There was a sense of what seemed like wonder in his eyes.
"Apparently," I mumbled.
"There dating, again." Andrea said, as I let my head fall onto the table with a defeated thud.
Jack had skipped school yet again so he could spend his day with my sister.
I let out a long sigh. Of course her plan to make Jack jealous worked. She was the pretty damsel in distress that always got what she wanted.
Deanna strutted by our table, and before I could register what was happening, Elijah grabbed the girls arm and spoke.
"Do you wanna go on a date with me?" He asked the pretty brunette.
I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped so low it was centimeters away from touching the ground.
Did Elijah really just ask the meanest girl in school out?
"Sure. I need a date, time, and place." Deanna told him, with a bright beautiful smile on her face.
I'm pretty sure I was about to throw up.
"What about Douglas? Isn't he your boyfriend?" I questioned the girl with a glare as she typed her number into Elijah's cellphone.
"We broke up a couple weeks ago. Obviously you didnt hear." Deanna rolled her eyes at me.
"Probably because it wasn't actually that important to anybody." Andrea rolled her eyes.
Deanna only scoffed, before giving Elijah a charming smile before walking away.
I could feel the irritation pricking at my skin. Out of all of the girls in this entire school he had to pick Deanna Strauss.
I let out a huff.
"I didn't think she was your type." Andrea said to Elijah.
He shrugged his shoulders, a small smile on his face, it actually looked more like a satisfied smirk.
"What made you want to ask her out?" I questioned in a demanding voice.
"She was walking by." Elijah informed me.
"So if I was walking by you would have asked me?"
"Yep. I guessed you missed your chance."
I glanced across the cafeteria to where Deanna was sitting. She was talking with her hands and kept pointing over at our table, no doubt filling in all her friends about what just went down.
You could hear their squealing giggles all the way over here.
I mean Elijah was definitely not bad looking or a bad person, but his features were soft and he was just overall innocent.
It felt weird even thinking about him being with Deanna.
"You have absolutely no taste, but whatever. You do you." I informed him, eating another apple slice.
He grinned at me with his satisfied smirk.
"No. I have great taste. I'm just indirectly taking advice from your sister."
I blinked back confused. What did he mean?
But before I got the chance to ask him, he got up, grabbed his lunch box and walked away
