1.6 Returning to "Civilization"

10th May, 2015

We slept like logs. Last night, we took a cab to the same family friend's house where we, Trisha, Bonu and I, stayed up later to the night, making cards for Mother's Day. Therefore, we woke up late today. I tried planning a meeting with some of my close friends, but we couldn't manage it. Ayushi lives too far away, Abhivyakti had to be at her brother's party, and Ishani at her sister's. I was especially looking forward to seeing Ishani as she shifted to Bangalore, and she did tell me to drop by at the party, but I went for a family dinner to a restaurant we loved, that doesn't have a branch in Bombay.

We spent the morning at Sarojini Nagar and Lajpat Nagar Markets with a break between the two for lunch at Haldirams, again another eatery unfortunately not found in Bombay. I love going to these markets. The stacks of colourful clothes and linen, the bargaining, the roaming from shop to shop, not buying anything at all- it has a certain charm about it that really gets me. Even though the streets are rather dirty and 'uncivilized' is the word for some people here, buying things from here is so much more fun than buying from a mall. Not that I've ever bought anything myself, but watching my parents bargain till the shopkeeper sells something that was originally Rs. 500 at Rs. 250, sometimes even 150, is real fun!

I bought a couple of amazing glow-in-the-dark mobile covers and silver key-chains, and a dress I'd been wanting for quite some time. I did look for a Scarlett Witch cosplay dress, but couldn't find it, sadly. Nevertheless, I enjoyed shopping and was pretty pleased when mamma bought me and baba a yoyo-like ball to play with. We went to this shop we are quite familiar with, a stationary and toy shop, and I got such amazing stuff!

We had dinner at Pind Baluchi. Right now, I wonder, as always, why in the world am I writing down such trivial matters. Then, again as usual, the answer is the same- for my own sake. I write for the fun of it. It is just a grace of God that I am good at it. (Am I though?) At least good enough to please myself!

Baba drives a borrowed car to G.I.P. It is a pretty good car. We currently have a low car, and riding in this, rather high one, is a very different experience. Not that I've never ridden SUVs before, I have, but never from the middle seats. My sister and I have always clambered to the back seats. I found this ride pretty smooth and really comfortable. Baba enjoyed driving it too. He said that our next car would be an SUV like this one. Yay!

We had to wait for a long time before we managed to get a seat in the restaurant, the mall was so crowded with hungry people. By the time we finished a scrumptious dinner, it was quite late and most of the shops had shut down. We got ice-creams and I thought that G.I.P is getting a little sloppy in its services. Before hitting the bed, we checked whether my phone cover actually glows in the dark. It does!
