Chapter Three
THIRD POV
A few hours had passed since the incident, but the Decepticons were still on their way to Chicago, forgoing any other cities in order to take the Allspark, and keep it. Sadly- for them- the Autobots knew of what they were planning, thanks to Knockout, and had already started their drive to Chicago, military trucks backing them up. Optimus, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Bulkhead, Ironhide, Wheeljack, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Jazz, and Smokescreen were the ones on the way, while Arcee was left at base with Knockout, quite reluctantly, one might add. Someone needed to watch the ex-Decepticon. As the Autobots and military drove nearer, the Decepticons came in from the air.
Unbeknownst to the people of Chicago, their homes would be no more than rubble on the ground within hours. Even more oblivious, several M.E.C.H. scientists and soldiers watched the femme sparkling as she giggled at all the surrounding people. The 'nurse' knew she would need to escape soon, the superiors were not liking the results of this experiment. They were furious that the very thing that they could hold over the aliens was now gone, lost to them once more. In simplest terms, the baby was about to see her end. The only person that felt any regret at what they were doing was the 'nurse', but she was determined to do good on her mistake. That baby was going to live, and nothing was going to stop her from making it happen. She would escape tonight, as the 'execution' was labeled for tomorrow.
The Decepticons fell onto Chicago like a sea storm. Swiftly, they attacked, and none were spared. People ran screaming, crying, bleeding, dying. Decepticons used their blasters to kill any trying to get out of the Chicago borders, and anyone entering was as good as dead. Buildings were crushed, cars went flying, lights were cut. The Autobots rolled in half an hour after their enemies, and the sight was terrible. Every Autobot grew glum at the sight of so much death, but it hit no one worse than Optimus Prime. He questioned his worth, his entire moral. If he could not save one city from evil, how could he save his old planet? How would he be able to bring victory if there was no one to grant victory to? Ratchet settled a hand on his old colleague's back, and his frown deepened. "It is not your fault Optimus. We got here as fast as we could. Right now, the best we can do is save the humans that are left here." Optimus' eyes grew dark and he nodded solemly, gaze drifting to a nearby Decepticon destroying two tall buildings with it's dual swords. "Thank you, Old Friend." Ratchet stepped back as Optimus changed his servos into his cannon and his sword. He charged his cannon before shouting, "Autobots, charge!" Every Cybertronian ran forward towards an enemy, attacking with vengeance. Bombs exploded, debris crashed, metal dented, swords slashed, guns emptied, cannons blasted, energon flowed, and blood splashed. Everywhere was a war zone. Optimus was taking on Decepticon after Decepticon; Ironhide and Wheeljack were a team as they bombed and blasted Decepticon ships left and right; Sideswipe and Sunstreaker used their twin bond to move in deadly sync; Ratchet ran off to help any victims to the several explosions and Decepticon wrath; Jazz and Smokescreen found ways to make killing Decepticons a game, the one with the most kills wins; and Bumblebee and Bulkhead worked together to find the Allspark, as that was undoubtedly why Megatron was in the city of Chicago. The duo fought Decpeticons as the searched, Bee leading Bulkhead with his beeps and whirs.
The 'nurse' walked passed the scientists as if nothing was wrong. A tactic she learned of 'hiding in plain sight'. She entered the room with the baby girl and gave a small smile in relief. She gently picked up Scarlet, and took the necklace out from her pocket. She slipped the identification around the baby's neck softly and smiled at the giggling girl. She gently shushed her and locked the doors, waiting for the time when the guards would change, allowing her escape. Less than fifteen minutes later, the wall the 'nurse' was laying against exploded. Acting on protective instincts, the lady curled her body around the sparkling. Her muscles tensed for the next blow, but it was never felt. Her spinal cord was severed from falling debris and coupled with the pain of colliding with the wall after, her brain overloaded, leaving the baby sparkling crying on the ground in the middle of the destroyed room, a Decepticon laying where the wall had been demolished. Scarlet knew her mother-figure would never wake up again, she was all alone again. She sobbed and screamed with her sorrow, an orange light emitting from her being. The Decepticon looked away from the approaching Autobots to the sound of wailing. Upon seeing the child, glowing with the power of the Allspark, he smirked, knowing Lord Megatron would be pleased. Quickly grabbing the sparkling, he put a clawed finger up to her throat, and turned back to Bumblebee and Bulkhead. Scarlet just looked into the Decepticon's eyes with awe, one of her pupils slowly changing from yellow to red. Bee let off a series of frantic and angry beeps as Bulkhead blanched. "Go back to your base and I won't kill the sparkling." Bulkhead glared at the growling Decepticon as his jaw worked. He shared a quick glance with the Scout, but before either could do anything, the Decepticon yelled in pain and dropped the baby, cupping his bleeding servo. Scarlet giggled as she fell, her new denta shining transparent in the light. Bumblebee transformed and drove to catch the little sparkling, but the Decepticon caught her with his foot before she could hit the ground. He bent over and put her in his other hand, glaring at the cute little thing. Against his will, his glare softened and he cooed at her while gently placed the special sparkling inside of himself, his body using the transformation scheme to shift in order to make space for the little angel. Bumblebee and Bulkhead just stared in shock as their helms overloaded. The only possible way for them to get the captive child was to kill the Decepticon. To have their other options taken from them was a rather uncomfortable feeling, but Bulkhead was determined to help the defenseless sparkling. He charged forward, his fists held high. The Decepticon's eyes widened and he quickly transformed into a jet to get away. Bumblebee beeped angrily and jumped onto the roof of a random building to continue to pursue the enemy. Bulkhead took Bee's plan and ran along the rooftops, buildings collapsing by his force beneath him. Amazingly, Bulkhead started to pass Bumblebee up, and he was quickly catching onto the Decepticon's tail. Just before the buildings dropped off to a small coffee shop, Bulkhead jumped, feeling to terrifying fear of weighlessness, before he landed upon the Decepticon's back. Due to the unexpected massive weight of the Autobot, the Decepticon took a massive dive straight into the asphalt road beneath. Crushed upon impact, the Decepticon's spark flickered out while Bulkhead rolled with the force to keep any more damage from happeneding to him or the life form inside of the enemy bot. Bee came running up beside Bulkhead as he ripped open the chassis of the Decepticon. There, giggling, unhurt, and glowing, lay the human that caused so many questions to form in the two warriors' minds. "Should we keep her?" Bulkhead looked to Bumblebee with questioning eyes. Bee looked down at the child with wonder, thinking over what happened for a few minutes. He looked up at Bulkhead and nodded slowly. "Alright, I'll keep her safe then." Bee gave a cheerful beep as he stood and watched as Bulkhead stored the smiling babe in his body's chassis, unnoticed was her other pupil changing to blue. "Let's go destroy some more 'Con aft then, Bee!" Bulkhead smashed his fists together while Bumblebee whirred in excitement. They both charged off to a nearby Decepticon ship, spirits high with the recent mission success.
