Chapter 5

Jam's POV
-----------------------------------------------------------

A look of awe crept into my face as I watched my friends amused themselves.

Edon is riding on a red bicycle, roaming around to observe the calm and beautiful surroundings. Kaitlyn and Chris went to buy a pink fluffy cotton candy for them to eat. Waves of laughter and chuckles were also audible, as Jemma brought her fellow noisy friends here, Gio and Fanny. Dwight was with them too but it seems like he's not interested in talking with them. He's just walking gently with his headphones plugged into his ears, looking like he's just listening to a piece of relaxing music.

I immediately turn my head away as I secretly saw him took a glance at me too.

Gosh, he caught me. That was awkward.

It's Saturday afternoon and I can feel the intensity of the wind blowing towards me, making my blonde hair want to chase after nothing. I'm currently at the Piston park, sitting on this old wooden bench right in front of the grand fountain.

It's so refreshing and nice here, especially that there are glamorous, colorful and blossoming flowers everywhere. I felt so unproblematic and free here.

Suddenly, my Iphone vibrated from my pocket. When I checked it out, I knew that a call was being requested that's why I answered it rapidly.

"Hello, why did you call?" I asked in doubt, as my voice slows down.

"Nothing honey, I just wanted to check if you're doing great there." She muttered.

Wow! It's been a long time since I heard her saying that.

"I'm fine mom! I'm always fine." I said it with emphasis before I sighed.

I guess using "always" in it makes it an obvious lie. I'm not fine all the time. Well, who does?

But I guess, she doesn't have time to talk about it.

Lying makes situations worse and even cause it more pain but sometimes it's the best that you could do.

"Oh, by the way, I wanted to inform you that you're gonna have a sibling. I'm pregnant. Isn't that nice?" She said as her tone raised of excitement.

"Oh, that's nice to hear," I stated it as my voice is shaking a bit.

They're gonna have another baby? Another one...

... that they'll leave again?

"Well bye, for now, son, I'm sorry your father and I are in duty right now, so if you mind..."

"Yeah it's alright, just send me my allowance this week," I answered swiftly.

"I'm sor..." Just when she's about to finish stating her sentence, I immediately ended the call.

Sorry. I hate that word, it's not like it can heal and fix everything, sometimes I wonder if people still mean that if they say so.

They both worked in abroad since I was 7. I grew up in the hands of my grandmother, well, not so long because I eventually learned to lived on my own when I turned 13, to get away from that toxic atmosphere.

More than half of my life, I lived independently, more of being alone. But there's nothing I can do about it, I cannot change the past.

I missed my parents.

It's not so long before I realized that teardrops are starting to fall directly into my pastel blue shirt. I tried to wipe it off, but my eyes can't help instead, it continued. My whole body is shaking as I cannot endure myself to create a wince.

Nobody loves me, nobody cares about me.

Suddenly, a gentle hand patted in my back. I stared at him with my misty eyes. He gave me a blue handkerchief that's why I used it to dry my tears.

I felt better.

"Want to talk about it?" He gave me a light smile as he tries to cheer me up. He arched his eyebrows, looking like he was really a concern.

"Uhm, I don't think so," I muttered and sighed for a moment.

We sat in silence for nearly 15 minutes before I decided to stand and leave the place.

"Where do you want to go?" I heard him clear his throat before he asked.

"I want to forget things, I want to get drunk," I said it firmly.

"Woah, are you sure about that?" He said while he narrowed his eyes with his forehead creased.

"Dwight, I'm sorry that lately, I've been too high maintenance, I mean for this one again. You don't have to come with me, I'm used to being alone, just let me do what I want." I explained to him as my voice was still shaking a bit.

"Then let me be your sober friend." He smiled at me.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked out of confusion.

Seriously, why is he so concerned about me? It's not like I'm a very important person.

I saw him twitching his muscles with his face flushed.

"You're my friend that's why I want to do this for you." He scratched his head before saying that.

"Ok, let's get out of here then."

We both run as fast as we can and eventually my right hand was intertwined from his left hand, guiding each other from the streets.

We then find this blazing bar nearby called the 'Playaz Club". We eventually entered through the entrance.

I went straight off to the bar table and sat on this red round chair. I then called the attention of the waiter and ask for a drink and he gave me a glass of whiskey.

I continued to try more drinks as I enjoyed myself here at the bar. It's really great to be here.

Especially that Dwight is here...

... with me.

Dwight's POV

I'm currently sitting here on the side of Jam's chair. He seems to be hurt so bad, I wonder what turns him like this.

My eyes started to explore around to look for a familiar person that could see us. My head immediately stopped to wander as I see someone. My eyes grew bigger as I see her walked towards us as she also located where we are right now.

"Hey, fool!" She shouted. I can sense that she's already intoxicated because her voice changed and turned groggy.

"Why are you here?" A familiar brown-haired girl asked.

"I just came to accompany Jam, he's having a problem right now." I narrated.

"Oh is that so? Well, do you want to dance?" She asked after she bits her red lower lip.

"Julie, I need to take care of..." Just when I'm about to say it, she stopped me by placing her index finger into my lips and shushed me.

"Look, Gwen can handle him, don't worry he'll be in good hands. You know what hands do." She made a huge smile before she cackled.

That makes me frown and furrowed my eyebrows. That's too annoying.

But what can I do? I guess I can't ruin his night, besides he might like it.

I walked together with Julie and joined her in the middle. As I started to dance, I cannot put my eyes away from where's Jam and Gwen at.

I can see that Gwen is starting to flirt at him as she started talking and opening that big mouth. She's really annoying, it bothers me.

As time goes by, I noticed that Jam is already feeling dizzy, as he started to create unusual movements and I think he wanted to sleep right now.

And I'm right, he started to fall off as his head lay down into the table, looking like drunkness hits him already.

I was then intrigued by Gwen, as she started to carry him and dash him away from the area. Jam tried to stop her as he resists her by pulling his hands away but I guess he drank too much.

I immediately ran after them to stop them.

"Where do you think you're going?" I asked as my voice raised after I gasped.

"Don't intervene here, it's none of your business." She grumbled in dismay while she continued to drag him.

I then pushed her out of my anger, enough to make her lay on the ground. I then placed Jam to a chair nearby to make him rest for a while.

She stood up and grips her left hand to my shirt. She then let her right-hand travel through my face with a strong force, attempting to slap me again.

But this time, I managed to hold her arms and resist it on its way on nearly hitting my face. Unable to declutch it, she was pushed again by my muscular arms, and this time, Julie shows off in the scene and caught her.

"What is your problem man?" Julie asked with a confused and raised tone.

"I'm not the problem, it's your friend."
I confidently answered as I wiped my ragged clothes.

"You bitch!" Gwen shouted as she stood up unsteadily.

"No. You are!" I growled as I pointed her face. She was shocked as her annoying blue eyes remained wide open.

"Don't take advantage of his situation. If he really likes you, he will come to you if he's in his right mind and he's conscious enough. I'm afraid he will not." I said it as I go back to where Jam is.

She rolled her eyes at me as I show my back to her to signal that we're gonna leave now. She has nothing to do with it because she can't fight back anymore. Besides, I'm stronger than her, she's just good at talking too much.

I took a glance on my phone as it vibrates instantly and there I see 11 missed calls coming from Edon and Chris, as they're the only classmates who know my number. I opened it and texted a message to pick us up on the nearby restaurant here.

Chris then replied and asked me to wait there.

I then gave Jam a piggyback ride, as he wraps his hands around my neck and carried him through my broad shoulder.

I can say that he's quite heavy, but I don't feel tired or exhausted at all. It seems so nice to carry and support him.

After I put him down in the bench near the restaurant, he poked my back through his fingers, withdrawing it with a crooked position.

"Thank you." He smiled at me as a single tear falls from his eye.

I smiled back at him and he immediately hugged me tightly as he grumbled.

Suddenly, the grip weakened, as I knew that he already fell asleep while hugging me.

I wish this will last a little longer.
