Math Class

~Jessie's P.O.V.~

I walked down the hall towards my locker when I heard someone call my name yet again.

"J-Jessie!  Wait!" Sting shouted, catching up to me.  I sighed.  When will he stop following me??

"Just because I talked to you does not mean I forgive you pervert," I muttered to him.

        "Look, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to.."

"Just leave me alone," I grumbled as I opened my locker.  He opened his, which was right next to mine,  as well.

"I'm afraid I can't do that because I'm in your every class.."

"Well, you could not talk to me.."

"I could, but I really want to know how you did that!"

"Did what?" I asked as I closed my locker, holding the supplies I needed for math.

"How did you dodge all my attacks?" He closed his locker as well.

"I just moved out of the way?" I answered, wondering why he asked me.

"Yeah, but anyone can do that," said Sting as we both walked to class.

        "So why're you asking?"

"Well, you did it so...smoothly," he said awkwardly.  "No one has ever beaten me in a duel, except for Minerva."

"It's not that hard really.  All there really is to it is to predict where the move is going to go and dodge it," I said, a bit annoyed that he didn't get that.

        "It's that easy??"

"Uh, yeah," I rolled my eyes as I opened the door to our math class.  The teacher wasn't here yet, just Sting's black-haired friend and Orga.  When I opened the door the looked at me with wide eyes.  Just ignore their glares.. I thought in my head as I sat next to the black-haired boy.  To my annoyance, Sting sat next to me.  As we waited for the teacher to come, more and more students came.  The girls gave me death glares while I could hear the boys whisper about how they're going to flirt with me after class.  God, this whole school is filled with players.  Atleast Minerva isn't in this class.

"Sorry I'm late class," said the teacher as the bell rang, but no one really paid attention.  "Anyways, I hear we have a new student to this class?"  I sighed and raised my hand.

"That would be me," I said politely.

"Oh, okay.  Please, will you introduce yourself?"

"My name is Jessie Celestia and I transferred from Fairy Tail High," I said nonchalantly.  I heard some snickers and people whispering "Oh that dump," which made my blood boil, but I kept it down.

"Welcome to my math class Jessie," said the teacher.  "We actually have a tradition for new students."  He gestured towards the board, which had this really complicated math problem on it.  "Every student gets a chance to try this problem, but no one has--"

"The answer is three," I said bluntly.

        "W-what?" The teacher said dumbfounded

"The answer is three," I said again.  I glanced at the class, who were all staring at me with wide eyes.  Even Sting and his friend were surprised.

"T-that's correct.." said the teacher, still shocked.  "H-how did you know?"

"Well, I could tell you, but I think I would bore everyone here with my math words," I shrugged.

"Ahem, well, it looks like we have a prodigy here," said the teacher when he calmed down.  "Now, onto class.."  As the teacher taught today's lesson, Sting quickly passed me a note.  I glanced at the girls, who were glaring daggers at me.  I then looked at Sting, who was looking at the teacher, but obviously was waiting for me to read it.  I quietly sighed and looked down at the note.

"That was amazing!  How did you do that so quickly??"   I looked back up to see the teacher writing numbers on the board.  I could get Sting in trouble...  I sighed in my head.  No, you're not that mean Jessie..  I took out a pencil and scribbled a response.

"I'm really good at math, and all other subjects.  Why?"  I silently passed him the note and waited until he passed it back.

"Dude!  Nobody's gotten the right answer to that question in two years!"  Huh, that was a long time, but eh.

"Not that big of a deal"

"You kidding?  It's rare to see a girl both smart, pretty, and strong!  Boys will be fawning over you!  Don't worry though, I'll be your bodyguard."  I rolled my eyes.

"You're one of those boys, so I don't think you can be my bodyguard.  Also, I don't need one."

        "Suit yourself."

        RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!!!

~Sting's P.O.V.~

Huh?  Class ended so quickly?  Eh, oh well.  I gathered my things and left the classroom.

"W-wait!" I looked to see Rogue running after Jessie, and for some reason, I ran after him.  We stood beside Jessie.  "H-how did you know the answer to that math problem?" he asked.

"Well, I could explain it, but I honestly will tell you it's too complicated to explain.." she sighed.

"O-oh, well, it's just that I really thought that was c-cool.."  I looked at him confusingly.  I could see a slight tint of pink on his cheeks, but it quickly faded.  Why was he blushing?  Wait, why am I caring!?  I shot him a glare, but I don't think he noticed.  Why am I angry all of a sudden???

"Th-thanks," Jessie said.  "I didn't quite catch your name?"  She just stuttered.  Was she falling for him?  Ugh, why do I care!?

        "Rogue.  Rogue Cheney," he answered.

"Ah, okay," she shrugged.  Oh good, she shrugged.  That probably means she's not interested, wait, UGH STING GET IT TOGETHER!!  Jessie and I stopped walking because we were already at our lockers.

"If you have the same schedule as Sting, then I'll see you at lunch?" Rogue asked with a tiny smile.

"Sure," she smiled back.  Ugh, gag me.  He waved bye and left, probably to go to his locker.  "How do you know him?" Jessie asked me as she took stuff out of her locker.

"Oh, he's my best friend," I answered nonchalantly.  I noticed her stiffen.

"Is he a player like you?" she asked, looking a bit angry.

"Not really, he just likes this girl, but he doesn't flirt with her or anything," I shrugged.  "I think he just admires you because he had been working on that problem ever since school started."  Huh, I didn't even realize that.  Atleast he's not in love with her or something, wait, UGH!!!  she sighed in relief.

"Good, cause I swear I was going to punch him in the face if he was a player.."

        "Hey!"

"I would do it to you if I didn't need you to show me to my next class," she smirked.  Every time she smirks, I swear I can feel my blood boil.

"Oh come on, why do you hate players like me so much?" I asked, honestly curious.

"Because you're perverted and you treat girls like we're your puppets and you can do anything you want to us," she replied.

"Not true!" I said as I shut my locker.

"Oh yeah?  How many girls have you flirted with?" she asked as we started walking.

"I don't know!  Too many to count!" I answered.

"Okay, then how many of those girls actually believed you loved them and how many of those girls' hearts were broken when they see you flirting with a different girl?" she asked.  All other thoughts stopped in my mind.  I actually didn't think about what would happen if a girl I flirted with actually believed I love them.

"U-um.." I stuttered, not sure what to say.

"Exactly.  You didn't even think about it did you?"

"W-well......no..." I muttered.  I know what would happen if, no, when it did.  That girl's heart would have shattered.  Now I feel really bad...  No wonder Jessie hated players.  I think I do as well.  If I saw a boy break a girl's heart like I probably did, I would be angry at that boy and think that he was a bully of sorts.  Great, now I'm a bully, and Jessie thinks that too.  Unfortunately, before I could say anything, we already arrived at science class.
