(The picture is Lynx)
Penny's POV
It's been just one day, and coming to Hogwarts has quite obviously been the best thing to ever happen to me.
The girls--my new friends, as I'd like to call them--are the sweetest people I have ever met. Janie is possibly the most outgoing, yet is embarrassed quite easily. She is hardcore when it comes to pranking, and I've learned that she is the one who will lead the missions, while Remi plans it all out. Remi is a natural bookworm, and is basically the brains of the operation. Lynx, on the other hand, is hardworking. I sense that she had difficulties in the past, as though she is full of energy and is extremely bubbly, when it comes to getting stuff done she is serious about it.
All three of them are so bright and happy and confident, despite being in a totally new place, surrounded by totally new people. But, to them, this isn't a bad thing.

"LYNX, GET OUTTA THE BATHROOM!"
"SHUT IT JANIE, PERFECTION TAKES TIME!"
8:20 in the morning. September 2. I am already ready for classes, dressed in my new Hogwarts robes with my Gryffindor tie perfectly tied around my neck. Breakfast ends at 8:45, and first period starts at 9. Lynx has been hogging the bathroom for the past ten minutes, doing her hair and makeup using all of Janie and Remi's supplies, wanting to look absolutely flawless on our first real day of school. Janie had the unfortunate outcome of waking up far too late, throwing all of her clothes into the bathroom to change and then remembering that she had forgotten her hairbrush. In the time it took her to run back and get it, Lynx had already sashayed into the bathroom and barricaded the door.
"LYNX I SWEAR TO MERLIN..."
"You don't 'ave to vait for us, you know," Remi reminds me, dressed and ready as well, and now pulling different school books from her trunk and arranging them neatly in her bag. "Zey are very slow."
"It's okay," I say shyly. "I don't mind. And--well, I don't want to sit alone."
"Yes, okay," Remi says in understanding. "You vant me to go down vit you? Ve can leave zem be."
"Sure," I agree. Remi gets to her feet, and together we walk to the door. As we're leaving, Janie begins shouting again, but now at us.
"No! Don't leave me! REMI LUPIS YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME ALONE WITH LYNX!"
I giggle. Remi smirks.
"Maybe you should vake up earlier?" she offers innocently. Then we race out of the dorm before Janie can protest.
"You've known them how long?" I ask as we descend the stairs.
"Vay too long," Remi says, shaking her head exasperatedly. I laugh again. Then there are the cries of a certain group of boys that are charging down the staircase opposite us, and yells of surprise and pain from poor, innocent first and second years that are crushed by the group of sixteen-year-olds. "BOYS!" Remi shouts threateningly.
Knowing right away who she's talking to, James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter scramble up from the ground, forming a straight line. James salutes. "Atten-TION!"
Remus casts Remi a smile, and I am instantly jealous. Obviously, he has taken an interest in her; quite understandably, too. But why can't no boys like me that way? I can barely even make friends with them... how am I expected to actually have a boyfriend someday?
"Stop 'urting zee leetle ones, or I vill report you!" Remi says, a little too harsh, a frown evident on her face. They frown too; so do I. Why is she suddenly not all chummy with them?
"C'mon, Remi, it was an accident," James says. "Come to breakfast with us?"
"Sure--" I begin.
Remi frowns. "Penny! Vee are not supposed to associate vit them!"
"Wait, what?" I say blankly.
"I vill explain," she says shortly. "Come--NOT you, boys!"
We hurry out of the common room, and she explains quickly about Janie's feud with James. I refrain from voicing my opinion of how ridiculous that is, and instead silently follow her down to breakfast. How she already has memorized the way to the Great Hall, I have no idea.
Down at the Gryffindor table, we are sitting in peace for only a few minutes when the sound of yelling fills the hall: Janie and James, everyone.
Lynx is holding onto Janie's arm tightly as Janie screeches, dragging her over to Remi and I, while Sirius is forced to grab both of James's arms and hold his friend back from attacking my new one. Unable to murder each other with their fists, I see James struggling to seize his wand from his pocket while still being restrained.
With Janie's wand clutched in Lynx's open hand, both of the girls unaware that James would not only hex a girl, but one with her back facing him, both are unprepared for when James suddenly shouts, "Levicorpus!"
I had never heard the spell before, but its intention is clear: to hoist the victim into the air by their ankle. Lynx's blood curdling scream cuts off Janie's stream of threats and protests; obviously, James had missed. Or did he?
Lynx is terrified, despite the spell proving to not do much damage. Janie has run from Lynx's side, heading straight towards James Potter, him not even moving. Sirius has released his friend, and they were chuckling together, paying no attention to their victim or the angry Australian striding right in front of them.
SLAP. "JAMES POTTER, YOU PUT HER DOWN NOW," Janie shouts, the noise terrifying.
James doesn't even grimace. "And why should I?"
"BECAUSE SHE'S AFRAID OF HEIGHTS YOU GOD DAMN FRUIT LOOP DINGUS!" Janie shrieks. Fruit loop dingus?
Remi and I are below Lynx, so we are there to collapse under her when Professor McGonagall removes the spell.
"Potter!" she shouts. "Detention for one week, and ten points from Gryffindor!"
Lying on top of Remi and I, Lynx is crying.
"She's not just afraid of heights, is she?" I ask Remi.
Remi grimaces. "Let us just say zat Lynx 'ad a tough child'ood."
Lynx's POV
Fuck you, you fucking bastard, you James Potter.
Anyways, Janie, Penny, Remi and I all find a nice spot at the Gryffindor table a good ways away from the boys.
I knew we had to get them back after today. Perhaps we could use our...unlocked abilities?
Unlocked abilities sounds weird though. I will not think that again.
"Guys." I speak up.
Remi looks up from her blueberry pancakes, whilst Janie and Penny turn to face me.
"We need a name. You know how the Bastard Boys have a group name? What is it..the Marauders?"
Remi nods in affirmation. "Yes I quite agree vit your idea, Lynx. But vat name could we use to rival theirs?"
We all think for a few hard moments. Until Penny speaks up.
"The Trailblazers?"
We all smile widely. "That's perfect."
But then I remember our 'little abilities'. Since this is my mind, and since it's not like anyone is reading it like a book, I shall explain what our ability thingy is.
Well, Janie and I are animagus'. And yes, I know they aren't exactly abilities per say. But in second year at Beauxbatons, we figured out that - spoiler alert - Remi's a werewolf.
So we made the potion (which took forever), and it took many tries, but finally by fourth year, we could turn into a animal if desired.
I turned into a large - wolf like - black dog, adorned with clear, grey eyes.
And Janie turned into a female lion, her hazelish eyes standing out against the creamy fur.
We used these skills to assist Remi when she turns into the wolf. I must say, for a werewolf, she looks more like the wolves in Twilight. She has chocolate brown fur that matches her hair, and golden eyes.
Anyways, what about our new friend? "Penny. Have you heard of animagus'?" I ask her.
She nods,"Yes, actually, I am one. Well, a registered one."
Janie and Remi let out little gasps of surprise, and I smile wider. "This is perfect. Since we don't want everyone overhearing us, I'll explain everything to you after class in our dorm." I tell Penny lowly. I don't want to risk anyone hearing. Particularly the damned Marauders.
**
Right now - two classes after lunch, Remi and I were seated next to each other in History of Magic. Why we still have to take this class, I have no idea.
Janie and Penny are in Herbology right now, I think..
Unfortunately we were stuck with 3/5 of the Marauders sitting behind us. Remus - who I can live with, James, and Aspen - who never really spoke to us at all. I can hardly believe he's even part of the Marauders.
I felt a tap on my shoulder, and I turn to see Aspen giving me a small smile. "I dropped my quill, it fell where I can't reach it. It's by your left foot."
I bent down and grabbed the quill. I handed it back to him. "Than-" He was cut off when James gave him a light - but meaningful - punch in the shoulder. They both started bickering, though I couldn't hear, since they whispered.
I turn to Remi, who was listening in on their conversation with her wolfie hearing. "What are they saying?" I ask her quietly.
"They're arguing about how they all have to 'treat the rest like Janie'. Aspen wants to continue being the nice person he is, to everyone. But James does not want any of them talking to us now." Her eyes drop to her parchment sadly. She did grow quite close to Remus.
"How can you hear what they're saying, Rem- ahem, Lupis?"
Remus leaned forward and gave Remi a questioning look. She paled tremendously, but kept her calm facade.
"Well, Lupin, I just appen to 'ave better 'earing than most people. But vat I'm wondering, is how you eard vat we were saying?"
He shrugged casually and leant back. If he was hiding something, he sure was doing a damn good job of doing so.
But Remi still looked at him suspiciously.
To get her off of his back, Remus glared at Remi. I must admit it was a harsh one, and I could see Remi cringe underneath it.
But she glared back, fire raging behind her eyes.
She swiftly turned back to the front of the room, and raised her hand.
"Professor Binns," She whined out, "I don't feel very good." She held her stomach.
If I didn't know what she was doing, I would have believed that she was going to be sick.
The ghost did nothing but shoo her,"Miss White, please take Miss Lupis to the nurse. Make it snappy." His droning voice was enough to get me out of my seat, dragging Remi along the way - who was still holding her stomach.
By the time we got to the common room, Remi collapsed onto one of the couches in a fetal position. "Lynx, I really don't feel good," She whispered.
I rushed forward and felt her forehead. It was burning up. I jumped back in surprise.
"Fuck, Remi. Why didn't you tell us you're sick? You were fine this morning!"
She just groaned into a throw pillow on the couch. "Vere is my calendar. I zought it would start tomorrow."
That's when I realized that Remi's pre-transformation symptoms must be starting.
I ran up to our room and checked our moon chart. The full moon is almost two days away.
"Crap crap crap crap." I ran down the stairs with some pain killers and a cup of water - spilling some along the way.
Once I emerged into the common room, I heard voices.
"Bloody hell, why isn't she waking up? IS SHE DYING?"
"OHMIGOD WE NEED TO CALL POPPY."
"Is she sick?"
"...Why didn't Lynx bring her to the nurse?"
Standing over one of my best friends, was the infamous Marauders. I fumed and barged through them.
"She's got a fever, but she gets them all the time. It doesn't affect her much. She's just sleeping." I shove the painkillers into her mouth, and she subconsciously swallows.
I use my awesomeness and throw her over my shoulder - when Remi's not around with her super werewolfness, I'm the strength of the group.
"Go back to class and leave Lupis," I glare at Remus, "Alone."
Kat typed Olive's entire part because SHE WOULD NEVER HAVE DONE IT TBH.
