Chapter One
I don't remember much from when I was alive. I've been here for 60 years. No one knows this place. I always thought it was a myth. It turns out it wasn't a myth. Reality check for me. Welcome to Hearell, the down of the living dead. Population of 3,000. All the citizens here are dead. Shocking, isn't it?. No, living, person walking among us, last for more than 24 hours. You see there is a thing, well curse, if a undead person touches a living person, they instantly die. The living don't know that, so when wander into our town, they shake hands to meet people. Then they deal with the consequence. Death.
I have seen it happen many times before. A person just strolls into one of our stores, thinking nothing of the horrible stench. When the sales associate looks them in the eye, they feel a feeling of nothingness. It makes it easier to touch them. Only the worst of people come to this town. More like the blood that comes from my ancestors. You see It all started 1,000 years ago, when a curse was placed among my family. They cursed the only people who actually meant they would stay together during death. Well death himself, did not like that bond. You see he was in love with the fair maiden. She turned him down when he was human. It broke him to see that bond. So death cursed the couple, and any blood they would share.
This is where I come in, I share blood with same couple, that rests here today. My name is Alexandria Wesley, a girl who died.
Now you may be thinking, why would curse still run in our blood, from over 1,000 years ago? We still have the same blood as we did then. It runs through our veins, without us knowing. No one has broken the curse, well not yet at least. For that to happen, a living person must fall in love with death. Also meaning a living human must love one of the citizens of Hearell, and declare their love to Death himself. See, it wouldn't be hard other than the fact of the living can't touch us.
If they do that, the whole town will be free to finally go to heaven, or hell.... But trust me, no one has ever attempted. Even if they last more than a few hours, as soon as they are told they try to flee. They don't understand that the town has magical barrier, which keeps us in. Anyone who comes in, won't come out. So eventually they get touched. No human has ever lasted even 24 hours here. It's a living hell, literally.
Every day is another day of being deaths breath. We always just walk through the town with our faces showing our death. I still have the bullet, that killed me, lodged in my skull. I was murdered by my own family. They wanted me to be in this tortue town. My own mother shot me, with no second thought. They never cared about me, I learned that over the years. Funny thing is she will never have to go through this hell. She never had the cursed blood, neither did her other little monsters.
I try not to dwell on it anymore, I can't change the past nor the future. I'm living in the only place I could ever call home. That's a sad and pathetic thought. My heart longs to be in the world, just once more. I keep my head up, getting through another day is a fight. The only problem? I am stuck here.... Forever....
They say forever is a long time, my ancestors will tell you that. They have been here for over 1,000 years. I miss life, eating food that was nutritious. What we eat here only satisfies the people on the verge of death. What I miss is the love i once held in my heart. I miss the feeling of hope. Now I only hope for what would be as rare as tears of an angel, a bright light to lead me from the darkness that has been my home for the last 60 years. God, if you are listening, please help, send an angel in disguise. Give us a person to help fight the darkness. To defeat death's curse. Please....
I have pleaded to god for years, he never answered my pleads. I have given up on the hope of leaving this place...
My hands shake as i write, never stopping to wipe the tears that burn my eyes. My heart breaking down as it beatlessly stays locked away. My blue eyes look from my journal, to look out the window at the dull, dark, unlit, town of Hearell. I grab a hair tie from an old little box, to tie back my long, dull, red hair. My pale face showing how death has taken a toll on me. My cheeks are hollowed out and my once pure blue eyes, have sunken into the sockets.
I blow out my candle and walk to the bed that rests against the wall. I climb into the bed, feeling the cold wash of emotions run over me. What once brought me warmth, and comfort, now bring me coldness, and unemotional sleep. My eyes close, leading me to the darkness of night. My head finally lays to rest...before the nightmares start.
"STOP!" I cry out, as my family starts to kick me down.
"NO! You deserve this!" The wicked witch of a mother calls out to me, smirking evilly.
She raises the pistol to my head, tears rushing from my eyes. I take in the world of the living, as if it's the last time i will ever see it. I look up to the heavens, my tears mixing with the rain that pours down from the sky. My feet move on my own accord. I turn and start running into the woods, my dress ripping along the trees. My heart beating to quickly for my body. My heels sinking into the ground.
"GET BACK HERE!" I hear my mother cry out.
I turn to glance but trip over a log. I quickly get up, my leg is hurting. I look down and see blood stain my pantyhose. I look up and see them close. My adrenaline keeping me up, I start to run, faster than I ever have. My hair falling out of the bouncy curls, and waving behind me. I jump over the river, barely making it. I turn for a second and BOOM! I feel the coldness of my blood soke my dress. I look at the other side of the river and... BAM!
I see my body clatter to the ground, the ground welcoming me to it. The second bullet in my head.
"Look whos all innocent now!" My mother laughs evilly. "Now you can't steal all the young bachelors"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" I sit up in a rush. My hair sticking to my sweat. 'Great, so much for a good night's rest...'
I get up and walk to my dresser. I pick a black and white, polka dotted, button up blouse, and a simple pair of black jeans. I grab my combat boots and my leather jacket and head out. The bright, early morning sun hitting my pale skin. I hear a screech and I run to see. My eyes widen as I see a person standing at the entrance. He walks in the barriers and seems to notice he cant get out. You can see the panic in his eyes, when he turns to look at me. I stare into his soul...
"Who are you?" the man shouts to me.
"I am not even sure of that, anyway, welcome to Hearell." I yell back to him.
