Tour Venue Twelve

ACL (Austin City Limits) Live at the Moody Theater,

310 W Willie Nelson Boulevard #1B, Austin, TX

Completed in 2011, this is a state of the art live music venue that hosts approx. 100 concerts per year. No seat in the theater is more than 75 feet from the stage.

The building is located within Block 21; the first mixed occupancy building of its type in the world to be LEED certified.  This is a mark of excellence by the US Green Building Council that measures attributes that benefit human and environmental health.

It is the permanent home for the taping of KLRU-TV produced PBS series, Austin City Limits; the longest running music series in American TV history.  Since 1974, the series has broadcast original performances from new talent and legendary artists from all genres of music.

It is the only TV series to ever be awarded the Presidential Medal of Arts and was recognised by Time magazine as one of the 10 most influential music programs of all time.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum designated the TV show an official rock and roll landmark.  The plaque is on display backstage and out the front on Lavaca Street.

Production of the show moved to ACL Live at The Moody Theater in 2011. In 2012, it received a rare Peabody Award for excellence and outstanding achievement.

Since the early 1970s, Scott Newton has captured iconic moments from Austin's music scene.  He has been the official photographer of Austin City Limits since 1979.  The Keller-Pfluger Gallery at the Moody Theater and guest rooms at the complex's W Hotel features his work from the last 40 years - Elvis Costello, Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, Jimmy Buffett and many more.

There is also a 'Jack & Jim' Gallery that features the largest exhibition of works from the estate of legendary godfather of music photography, Jim Marshal. It showcases a passion for music uniting three American institutions – The Jack Daniel's Distillery, Jim Marshall Photography, and ACL Live.

Jim Marshal's 50-year career resulted in over 500 album covers, magazine features and iconic images spanning many music genres.

The photographs show the small neighbourhood, The Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco, that in the 1960s was regarded as the centre of the counterculture movement. Jim's photographs captured the early psychedelic scene, the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin and the British invasion that came to see these bands – The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix performing free concerts in Golden Gate Park, Hippies and the Hells Angels are all celebrated.

Next door to ACL is 3TEN, a state of the art, 350 person showcase room that allows smaller 'house' shows of world-renowned, emerging and local artists.

Willie Nelson was honoured by the renaming of 2nd Street.  A statue was erected on 20 April 2011 and is located in the front of the venue at Willie Nelson (2nd St) and Lavaca Street.

Artists include: Steve Winwood, Two Door Cinema Club, Trombone Shorty, Blondie, Diana Ross, Tears For Fears, The 1975, Sting, Bryan Ferry, Don Henley, Norah Jones, Crosby Stills & Nash, Radiohead, REO Speedwagon, OneRepublic, Kasey Musgraves, The Fray, and Harry Styles!
