"Hi yah!!" A girl with short brown hair and yellow eyes yelps as she kicked the board in half.

"Woohoo! Excellent kick, Rin! You'll definitely be strong as your uncle Fusao!" He praises as the raven haired young man pats her head making the little girl giggle and smiled widely at him.

"You bet! I'm gonna be strong as uncle Fusao so I could protect you, mommy, daddy, and grandpa!" She cheers with her father kneeling down and ruffling her brown hair.

"Then you better work hard if you want to protect us from danger." He encourages.

"But also take precaution before you take the initiative." Her mother reassures and the little girl nods her head with a huge smile.

"I will!" She chirps.

"Oh oh oh! What a bright cheery girl you are!" Her grandpa chuckles.

"And she's going to be one when she grows up." Her mothers points out with a smile as the family erupt a lighthearted laughter.

Rin Kawano is always a bright and energetic girl ever since she was born. Her cheery disposition and cute sunny smile has always brighten up her family; just like a her father. However, she also possesses the fire that flows in her blood like her uncle. As well as the strong sense of justice, brutal honesty, and rationality like her mother.

She's also known as a tomboy where she would wear sweatshirts, jeans, sneakers, or hoodies, do martial arts practices with her uncle, run into fields, compete in games with her dad, play video games, hanging out with her grandpa at the living room. She even helps her mom with chores.

However, there's one weird thing she experienced as a child. It happened with she was five years old when she develops crushes on anime characters that are men and women alike such as Sailor Mars from Sailor Moon and Zoro from One Piece. At first, she thought it was weird for her to be attracted to both a boy and a girl and sees it as a faze that will go away.

But that's part of her early childhood so far. Even though she's outgoing and bubbly, Rin has a trouble time at school when she struggles to make friends with the other kids, but neither of them don't want to hang out with her because of her tomboyish personality. She feels so left out that Rin was on the verge of crying but decides to keep her head up high. While sitting at the table by herself during lunch, everything changed when she met him....

"Uh h-hello..."

"Hm?"

Rin glance up to see a young boy with brown hair and green eyes stroking the back of his head.

"Umm I'm sorry that I'm bothering you, but...you seem to be lonely all by yourself so I was wondering if I could sit with you." He ask with a cute awkward smile.

"Cuz...I want to get to know you as friends." He said. This lights a spark in her yellow eyes surprised that a young boy like him would offer his friendship.

"Y...You mean it? You want to be friends with me?" She ask curiously as he smiles sheepishly and nods.

"I do. You seem to be a nice girl and...I want to hang out with you. So...can I?" He ask shyly with a timid smile. Moved by his kind words and his offer, Rin crept a smile and nods her head without a shadow of a doubt.

"Of course! I would love to!" She chirps as the cheery girl got up from her seat and runs up to him to shake his hand as Rin let's out a giggle.

"I'm Rin Kawano! It's a pleasure to meet you! What's your name?" Rin ask curiously with a smile.

"Toono! Takashi Toono! It's nice to meet you, Rin-chan!!" He beans as the brunette smiled back.

"Same here, Toono! Say, do you like beaded jewelries? I'm good at making beaded necklaces and bracelets! Wanna try?" She ask.

"Sure!" He beams and that's when their friendship ignites for the first time. They are inseparable where they would come to their houses to hang out. Even their families became close friends.

"Ugh man this looks hard..." He mumbles while staring at his awful looking beaded bracelet. Soon Rin let's put a giggle and show him the bracelet.

"Look Toono! I made you a bracelet!!" She beams shocking the brunette.

"Huh?! For me?" He ask curiously and she nods.

"Yeah! I made it just for you!" Rin chirps as puts on the bracelet. She then grins beamingly at him.

"It's a symbol for our friendship!" She chirps. Toono glance at his handmade beaded bracelet as he forms a pout plastered on his face.

"My bracelet looks ugly...." He mutters while pouting, but Rin didn't take any offense and take his bracelet as she held it to her chest.

"There's nothing ugly about a bracelet. 'Practice makes effort' is what my mom said. It doesn't matter if it looks perfect or not, I'll always cherish this in my heart. It looks cute after all." She reassures flashing him with the cutest bright smile. Moved by her kind and sweet reassurance, Toono smiled sheepishly and glance down twiddling his thumbs.

"Hey Rin-chan...if we met up again, can you teach me how to make beaded bracelets look beautiful?" He ask shyly and Rin nods with grin.

"Of course! Anything for my best friend!" She chirps as Toono smiled back at her.

"Thanks Rin-chan!" Toono replies.

As they grew up together, their bond became much more stronger than before when they've entered middle school. However something happened to Rin when she rediscovered the same feeling she felt before from her five year old self. Confused yet scared, doubts and fears swirled around her mind. She dreads the thought of her family's reaction when they found out about her bisexuality. With fear conquering her mind, Rin ended up crawling into the a ball crying silently in the dark corner so no one can hear. Until Toono changed everything for her.

"Eh? Rin-chan?" Toono blinks his eyes twice to see Rin crying as the brunette girl raise her head up to her best friend with teary yellow eyes.

"Toono...." She mutters looking at him with teary yellow eyes. Worried, Toono walks up to her and sat down beside her.

"What's wrong? What happened?" He ask curiously with concerned green eyes. Rin wipes the tears with her sleeve and sniffs before she could respond.

"I'm scared...." She uttered.

"Scared?" He ask looking confused as Rin grips on to her jeans grimacing from her sexuality.

"..What would I tell my parents? ...I'm not straight or gay. I...think I'm both." Rin admits while shuddering and lowers her head shutting her eyes bawling silently at the thought of her parents reactions. But out of the blue, Rin lifts her head and gasps when she turns around to see Toono embracing her.

"It's okay, Rin-chan. I'm always here for you." He comforts her shocking Rin as Toono lifts his head with a soft smile.

"You're my best friend after all. I'll always support and stand by your side no matter who you are. You have my support." Toono reassures. Touched by his kindness, tears starts to flow from her eyelids and wraps her arms around him with a smile of relief.

"Thank you...Toono!" She thanked him as she felt Toono nodding his head while hugging her.

After the reassurance given from her best friend, Rin took time for herself waiting for the right moment to come out to her family. It took her a few days to sort this through with her bisexuality until the time has come at her twelfth birthday.

"Mom, dad, uncle Fusao, grandpa...there's something I need to tell you all." She said as Rin took a deep breath and exhale out before she responds.

"...I'm bisexual." She confessed closing her eyes while gripping her hands together behind her back not wanting to see their reactions but also waits for their responses. Rin was expecting them to turn away from her or shun her, but what she received was unexpected for her.

While anxiously waiting for their responses, Rin opens her eyes to feel her dad's hand patting her head gently as she glance up to see her dad smiling warmly at her.

"Not to worry, Rin. We'll always be proud of you as our daughter." He reassures shocking Rin.

"R-Really?" She stutters.

"Yup. We're supportive of the LGBT community so we have no problem with your bisexual because it's who you are." Uncle Fusao said.

"Uncle Fusao...." She gasps. Soon she felt her mom patting her head and kiss her head.

"And there's no need for you to be ashame of yourself, Rin cuz we'll always love you sweetie." She comforts with a smile.

"She's right. We've got your back, so don't let anyone treat you like your a nobody because you're my strong and beautiful granddaughter." Her grandfather reassures with a big grin. Moved by their heartwarming words, Rin can finally breathe and smiled brightly to see that she has support from her family now that she finally came out. And she is glad to proudly say, she is bisexual and she'll face many obstacles along the way with her family and Toono by her side. And that's how her story begins...
