The Tipping Of The Scales - The Power Purge

Jordan's POV

Another Saturday, another Purge. Tom and I had agreed to team up again, since it was a safer option that trying to go solo. Tucker had become twisted in the world of Mianite; breaking into Tom's vault, hunting me in an attempt to see my vault code, attempting to burn down my home and teaming with Furia in order to kill off any opposers to his 'grand' plan. Sonja was generally playing by herself, avoiding contact with Tucker and arguments had begun to spring up more between them due to Tucker's rash actions and the impact they had on her as well as the Mianite community in general. However his interactions with Sonja on Mianite were becoming less and less frequent, causing Sonja to grab all her gear and create a mini vault to store her stuff way out in the desert. Despite Sonja not being on our alliance, we had decided to leave her alone for the time being - keeping her coordinates safe just in case we needed leverage to keep her in line. Tom had lost a lot of good gear because Tucker stole it and burned half of it, but I had been supplying him with extra materials before he could go strip mining and get all his stuff back. Despite Tucker losing dozens and dozens of sets of enchanted diamond armor, he kept coming back with more and more powerful equipment that could only be brought down by Tom and I's combined abilities.

Tom's power would be an advantage this Purge, as would mine since it was an all out slaughter fest with no holds barred. I had locked up my vault and donned my invisibility potion planning to lead people to the top of the mountain and knock them off because I knew I couldn't die from fall damage. Tom was planning to go hunting with his infinite invisibility, promising to tell me when he was near my house so we didn't friendly fire. Our powers would make us the dominating players in this Purge but we both knew Tucker probably had something up his sleeve and the Gods might get involved if necessary. But despite our knowledge of our dominance, we were both planning to play subtly and try to remain away from the opposition unless we knew we could win the fight. Deciding to split up but still help one another out if needed, I ventured out of my house and ran to the top of the mountain near Tucker's old house before panning around in search of any signs of life. I doubted my ability to spot anyone because of the whole invisibility process that Tom had going and his general habits of going completely silent when he was on the hunt. According to my chat, Tucker had sworn to hunt me down and slay me consistently until I had no gear left at all which was a slightly concerning issue for the whole Purge but for once I had Tom on my side, making us unstoppable.

The sounds of blocks breaking made me switch subtly into F5 mode, pretending to be looking over the cliff when I was secretly spotting Tucker who was camping in a small hole in the ground, his enchanted helmet glowing in the minecraft dusk light. In his hand was a wizard stick, enchanted with Knockback X which would guarantee my death, or so Tucker presumed. He had no knowledge of my power and I wished it to remain that way but with a lack of options presenting themselves, I knew it was a 50/50 chance of me killing Tucker or of him watching me plummet to the ground from 100 blocks up, to lose no hearts whatsoever. As he began to shift walk towards me, I twisted my character around and pulled out The Bow Of Justice, peppering him with flame arrows as he charged towards me relentlessly. My arrows seemed to have little effect on him, the usual red flash that appeared when someone was on fire never appeared yet there were no potion effects visible to my eyes. Pulling out my knockback stick, I jumped into the air and plunged down towards him, sending him flying off the cliff to his demise via a critical hit. I shouted in celebration and directed Tom to the loot whilst I made my way down the steep cliff towards where I presumed Sonja was hiding.

But I made a mistake.

Forgetting about my streams lack of knowledge about my power, I missed a jump and plunged at least 50 blocks down the earth, landing with a thud but no health lost. After telling Tom that the jig was up, I hopped into Team Speak to face the vocal lashing I was sure to receive from Tucker about all the bullshit that was happening to him when he merely chose the wrong side to fight for. Unmuting myself, I sighed and spoke aloud - interrupting Tom and Tucker shouting at one another.

J - Jordan

T - Tom

Tu - Tucker

S - Sonja

T - What do you mean it's bullshit? Not my fault your god doesn't think you are worthy enough for gifts like ours!

Tu - It's all bullshit! This isn't how the story is meant to go! Just let it happen! Stop fighting it and give up on your stupid idea of keeping Ianite safe from Mianite.

S - Tucker...

Tu - Don't you turn on me as well! You know as well as I do how this is meant to play out, we were told but you turned away from it and you will be punished for it.

J - Good evening Gentlemen.

Tu - Don't you 'good evening' me you little bitch follower.

T - Woah woah Tucker chill its just a game yeesh.

J - No let him speak. He's just being a hypocrite over a irrelevant thing.

Tu - How's your system of justice going for you? Good huh? Soon it will all be dust. Along with that tree of yours.

S - Jordan can I talk to you in private?

Glancing away from Team Speak for a moment, I noticed my Skype was beeping informing me of an incoming call. It was Sonja and from the amount of messages I had received I could tell it was urgent so I accepted it. As I waited for her to speak, I dug myself back out of the hole I had camped in and began running around trying to find where Tom was in case Tucker decided to take advantage of the conversation to try and pick us off.

"Jordan, Tucker's lost it. We were in a call with Mianite the other day, I was just strip mining but he kept muttering about 'The End Of It All'  and what was to come. The pirates, the revival of Ianite, his turning evil. It's all leading up to something and he told us what it was... It's horrible Jordan and I don't want to be involved with it yet my loyalties are tied. I chose Mianite because he was meant to be good and true, about doing good for the land and saving us all. But the side has changed and it's twisted Tucker's perspective about the world of Mianite beyond sanity. He's perfectly normal in real life, his usual derpy kindhearted self but the moment he logs onto the server, he changes. It's scary because I don't truly understand what his role in all of this is. And I thought that one more thing would push him over the edge and this whole power thing that you guys have seems to have done it. I know Tom can turn invisible but what can you do?"

I sighed, knowing that in order to gain her trust completely I needed to reveal my secret to me and explain it fully to my stream.

"I cannot die from natural causes except Mobs. No lava, no fire, no fall damage or drowning. Not even TNT can kill me. Trust me I've almost died a lot but honestly none of it works. The lowest health I've gone down to recently has been 3 hearts and that was from a bunch of skeletons. Tucker was planning to knock me off the edge of the tallest cliff near Tom's house but it wouldn't have worked."

The shocked silence on the other side of the call was concerning, I couldn't tell whether she was shocked, reporting it to Tucker or the gods or just her mic had broken. My stream was going insane, theories and spammers and salty people from Tucker's stream completely driving the chat up the wall, the words all flying past me almost unreadable. Finally Sonja spoke aloud again.

"Mianite will come for you Jordan. You are the central character in the story on this server, the one who truly matters in this whole story and you are the only one who can stop Tucker from losing himself completely. Dianite and Ianite can help but honestly they need to worry about keeping everyone else in line when the panic sets in. I'm going back to Team Speak, feel free to listen but do not reveal what I have told you to Tucker."

And with that she hung up. Silence was all I could hear, no minecraft sounds, no voices shouting at one another, just pure eerie silence that didn't fit with the scenario. It was the Purge, it was meant to anarchy and betrayal, victory and losses, vengeance and teamwork. Yet it was dead silent across the server. Everyone had muted themselves in Team Speak, even Tom who was meant to be talking with me and not a word was spoken in the game chat except for the wizards announcing how much time we had left to continue slaughtering one another. We were all cowering away from the deadly truth that was lurking over our heads and despite the team work, the alliances and all the agreements we all knew that we were all only thinking of one thing - how to save ourselves. The silence ended as quickly as it had begun, with the Team Speak exploding with shouting and objections. the minecraft sounds returning and the sounds of bow shots and TNT echoing through my headphones. The death messages were coming in thick and fast, with Tom dominating and Tucker's taunts becoming more and more volatile and Sonja's weak defence against the barrage of abuse heading her direction becoming less and less bearable for Tucker to stand before he would snap.

I ran towards the sounds of the action, my sword out and my armor on. I knew that Tom would have my back despite the lack of communication we had at the moment and as I rounded the corner, the sound of a splash potion made me smile - Tom had given me a strength potion from his invisible location. Lunging towards Tucker, I hammered down on the attack button, my sword swinging rapidly and precisely towards his character causing his demise to come within two hits. His swearing was almost unbearable to listen to, my young listeners being shocked by the stream of unknown profanity spewing from Tucker's normally restrained mouth. After scooping up his gear, I examined it and noticed something odd. There was a slime-ball in his inventory. I glanced at my chat to see that everyone, including the mods were shouting at me in full capital letters telling me one thing.

"TUCKER KILLED JERRY! THAT'S HIS REMAINS!"

I spoke quietly with a furious tone echoing throughout Team Speak towards Tucker, making Sonja and Tom fall silent with shock at seeing my immense rage.

J - Tucker. You help burn my tree, you rob me, you kill me, you prank me and you do so many things that are against the rules you claim to uphold when it suits you. But this. This is over the line. YOU KILLED JERRY. NOW YOU WILL FEEL THE TRUE WRATH OF  IANITE.

A tinge of red covered my vision as I raced towards his home, grabbing my pick-axe from my vault and sprinting there, ignoring all the mobs and the attempts from Tucker to stop me. My health didn't matter, my armors durability didn't matter. Jerry deserved vengeance. And I was going to get it. Opening the door and racing into the basement, I found the secret corridor and raced up it, slaying Tucker out again and again as he attempted to halt my progress towards his vault. After breaking his bed and sealing the entrance with obsidian, I began raiding through his chests, grabbing what valuables I could find and separating them from the junk. I poured lava into a hole in the corner of the room and began to burn everything I could find. Anything that wouldn't be of use to the others or myself was burned. Emeralds, iron, gold, blocks, potions, spare armour, it didn't matter what it was it was all burned. After collecting all I needed to share with the others, I set up a redstone system that meant that the moment Tucker entered his secret little vault, TNT would be deployed and Jerry would be fully revenged. I broke the obsidian and raced out to meet Tucker, slaying him out once more I ran home and told the others to meet me outside my vault. Whilst keeping an eye out for Tucker, I split the loot I had gotten from the vault between us all after discussing who needed what to improve their armour or their stocks were dwindling etc.

The chat announced that the Purge was over and congratulated me for getting the most kills, claiming me as the victor to another Purge, an undefeated champion of the Mianite world. As I was about to log off, I saw a message appear in chat.

Tucker exploded.

I smiled grimly and spoke in Team Speak for the final time.

"That was for Jerry."
