The Tipping Of The Scales - Ianite's Riddle
Tom's POV
Today was the day. A message that Jordan and I received when we logged in instructed us not to make our way to the End until everyone was online, not a moment before or the consequences would be fatal. Naturally, I was looking for some form of loophole in this command despite Jordan's protests but there was none. So I merely moped around Jordan's vault, inventory full of gear and potions with nothing to do but constantly poke Jordan in some attempt to find entertainment. He was no fun though, he just ignored me, no reaction at all! I guess he was just used to my antics or he was in another window so he could only hear me through Skype instead of watching my actions in game.
Eventually everyone came online and were demanding the event to begin, with rules and suggestions being thrown around and dismissed the moment Tucker appeared. He was demanding for Jordan not to follow through with the plan, claiming terrible consequences and dark threats as how the story would end, but Jordan was having none of it. Dec was trying to get the chat to calm down, but sadly capital letters weren't doing the trick whether it was in our streams or in the game chat. You could barely follow the chat flow as it was, with Jordan and I having to constantly scroll upwards in order to understand what the fuck was going on. Dec soon got sick of it and a booming voice echoed across Team Speak and Skype, the chat falling silent and the stream chats merely displaying trial emojis instead of normal text.
Silence. The event shall begin. Good luck to you Jordan, for all our sakes.
Jordan merely nodded and entered Team Speak, instructing me to begin the plan we had agreed on off-stream. We splashed ourselves with invisibility potions and snuck up the stairs, preparing our swords in the hotbar and ignoring the stream chat completely, concentration clear on our faces. Halting at the top of the stairs, I threw a splash potion of damage at the corner where one of them may have been lurking with the flash of red and swearing that followed its contact confirming the worst for us. There was no grace period, the attempts against us had begun. And we had a long way to go.
I sprinted out the back of the house, the wooden door that I had left open proving a valuable indicator to where others may be hiding, whilst Jordan jumped out one of the various holes in his glass windows that I had created over the various Purges. Grabbing a boat from my inventory, I hopped in and began to curve my way across the sea and up to the river praying that Jordan had found his own way to the portal or at least to the entrance of the staircase. Arrows were flying over my head and ender pearls just missing me, cursing and empty threats being thrown at us both, the majority being aimed at me despite my ability to turn invisible, I guess a boat moving by itself was a bit too obvious compared to whatever Jordan had up his sleeve. As I passed the giant cliff on my way up the river, I heard Jordan shout:
'Put down the spare boat!'
Confused, I did as I was asked but all became clear when I saw Jordan leaping off the highest cliff and landing safely, dodging Sonja's arrows and hopping in the boat I had placed down. We were safe for the moment and we had at least made it to the entrance to the End with only a staircase in the way. Jordan hopped off his boat and raced towards the stair entrance, yelling a warning about booby traps. I hopped off my own boat and wrecked them both, not allowing anyone else to grab them in case they used them against us.
Glancing behind me, I noticed Tucker and Sonja racing towards us with their swords drawn - we had little time. Jordan knew more about redstone then I did so he went straight to dismantling the various traps that stood between us and the portal. Grabbing The Assasinator from my inventory, I began peppering Tucker and Sonja with arrows, in a vain attempt to get them to back away from the staircase entrance. The constant pinging sounds that echoed across the call proved the success of my endeavours however no matter how many times I hit them, they just wouldn't die! I couldn't see any regeneration particles so I had a feeling that Mianite was repeatedly spamming /heal in some vain attempt to stop his followers from being halted in their tracks. All I could hear from Jordan's side of the call was unintelligible muttering about tripwires and sequences, with the occasional cheer as he disconnected another trap but he still needed more time.
Glancing into my inventory, I pulled out a stack of obsidian and began boxing Jordan and I in from all sides, not allowing them to dig into us from above until Jordan managed to dismantle the final trap. Apparently it was a TNT trap, rigged to the end portal that would demolish the end portal and the underside of Jordan's vault if triggered. The tripwires and pressure plates were everywhere, even walking a block was treacherous and only Jordan seemed to know the correct place to jump to at certain times. I merely followed in his footsteps, hopping and shifting on command and praying with every part of me that the journey to the end temple would be a lot easier than this. I could hear the obsidian breaking behind us and so I took a risk. Grabbing my knockback stick, I launched Jordan into the end portal which made him vanish from sight whilst I enderpearled to the portal, risking hitting dozens and dozens of tripwires.
But the God's were with me.
We had entered the end.
Jordan's POV
According to my lady Ianite, the temple was behind where Tom had slayed the ender dragon all those months ago and that the riddle had special conditions that had to be fulfilled. I wasn't 100% of what Tom and I had to do to save the realm but I sure as hell was going to try, for Ianite and for everyone else's sakes. Tom had taken a huge risk that had paid off, with us playing the jag move and covering the spawnpoint in the end with lava, hoping that it would slow down anyone who attempted to follow us through. But it was quiet. Too quiet.
Tom and I walked together through the empty end, no enderman sounds not even minecraft music to accompany the sounds of our footsteps and the echoing heavy breathing in the call. Chat was dead, no-one had spoken in hours and Team Speak was merely filled with muted mics. Everyone seemed to have stopped chasing us and the server seemed to have frozen in time. We didn't let our guards down, with bows prepped and swords drawn we were walking slowly towards the ender dragon's portal, the darkness of the end hiding the dangers from us. But Tucker had to ruin it.
'Now my lord! Wipe them out with your bare hands!'
Whipping around at the sound of a dragon's roar I was witness to Mianite riding the ender dragon towards us, his once white eyed character now host to blazing red eyes and a demonic stare. Endermen began to appear from nowhere, attacking only Tom in an attempt to distract him whilst Mianite continued to barrel towards me. I sighed and pulled out The Bow Of Justice, ready to attempt my normal strategy for the end with the unknown danger that Mianite posed. The dragon's health was half it's usual, I presumed that the wizards had attempted to spawn one in before and Mianite had hijacked it for his great scheme so that made it easier to take down the dragon. Eventually the endermen left Tom alone when he placed water around himself and with him by my side it was easy to finish off the dragon, causing Mianite to fall to the ground with a thunk.
'Jordan! I can see the temple, we need to get there now!'
I looked the direction his character was pointing and began to enderpearl constantly, ignoring the damage it was causing to my armour and myself, just hoping that we get there before Mianite gets to us. Reaching the front door, I turned to see Tom taking poison damage every time he attempted to walk towards me, the effect only worsening the more he tried. He would die if he came in the temple but he would die if he stayed outside. My mind raced to find some sort of solution to save Tom's life and all I could come up with was giving him all my enderpearls and instructing him to use his invisibility to the max. I watched Tom vanish with Mianite in hot pursuit, leaving me to turn into the temple and attempt to complete my mission.
The temple was an astonishing build, something I could never dream of creating. Ianite was known as the God of equality and justice and that theme shone through clearly just by glancing around the vast temple. The room was split into three different parts, each representing each God of the world. Mianite's side of the room was eerie, the quartz and general grandeur of the side seemed to give off some kind of terrifying aura that predicted doom for all. Dianite's side of the room was quite similar to the Dianite temple in the nether but brighter, with nether rack and glowstone lighting up the room instead of the evil that used to emanate from it. The fires were lit, pointing towards a door in the centre of the room that I presumed was my destination. As I stepped forwards, the rest of the room came into view, Ianite's side.
Ianite's side of the room was stunning, with purple and white intertwining into one another, with the Scales of Justice built along the side of the room as some form of wall. The words Justice and Equality were written into the floor in some attempt at cursive writing and the simplicity of the room was astonishing. I walked down the corridoor, passing painting and build after build, aiming to complete my quest. When I reached the end, I found nothing and was confused. Where was this mysterious riddle? Was Ianite even here? My answer was found by looking in chat.
Fate has joined the realm of Mianite.
Glancing back up, I noticed the name tag of this 'Fate' person and I was astonished by their skin. They were half of the Scales of Justice, split directly in the middle with bright violet eyes. They floated in mid air, staring down at me as I waited for them to speak. What I then heard was astonishing.
'So you wish to know Ianite's riddle? State your name, side and goal.'
'Jordan or CaptainSparklez, A follower of her ladyship Ianite and my goal is to bring peace to the realm of Mianite no matter what.'
'Hmm. Ok. You are allowed to hear the riddle but you must accept the consequences to all if you agree to undertake the challenge.'
'If it helps me save the realm, then I accept the consequences but I beg of you, do not hurt anyone as part of the consequence.'
'Spoken like a true Ianite follower. Listen closely and remember all I say.'
When the realm is in peril,
When the shadows are free,
When the light has turned dark,
When all seems lost,
A hero will rise in the name of justice,
With one life remaining,
He will have a terrible choice to make,
At the end of it all,
But until that day comes,
The justice must be upheld,
Or all will perish.
This is Ianite's Riddle.
Time to respawn.
As Fate finished speaking, my vision went dark and the last thing I heard was my head smashing into my keyboard and seeing a dark figure reach towards me through my monitor.
The Game Has Begun.
