Monsters (2) - Poetry
I've been going through a couple of my older poems recently, and I've decided to give "Monsters" another go.
I think this version came out a bit better, even if it is still a bit lumpy.
I won't be adding this version to the book of the same name, but I'd still love to get some feedback on it.
Are there any parts that hit home with you, or that you think are a bit too opinionated / vanilla.
Anyway! Here's my new baby!
Have fun storming the castle! Xx
(TheDrenchedSoul - thanks for still reading my stuff! It's really nice to see that someone cares.)

What is a monster but human?
We fear our own shadows
We fear our clothes piled on chairs
We fear the deafening sound of silence
What is a monster but human?
We fear our own thoughts
We fear our reflection in the mirror
We fear the darkness that comes from being alone
What is a monster but human?
We fear our own pity
We fear our fire-like tempers
We fear the moment before disaster strikes
What is a monster but human?
We revel in the pain of others
We call it revenge
What is a monster but human?
We delight in the failure of others
We call it karma
What is a monster but human?
We treat fear and respect like they are equal
We treat people who live and breathe like they are not
We deny the hungry, the poor, and the unloved
We consider life irrelevant
What is a monster but human?
The creatures under our beds, what makes us any different?
They too strike without warning
They too smile at the weak
They too lurk in out nightmares
What makes us any better than them?
After all, aren't they the monsters?
