Father's Day

The Doctor and I were sitting on the jump-seat, me with my feet pulled up and the Doctor's arm around my shoulders. Rose was leaning against the console and telling us about her dad.

"Peter Alan Tyler, my dad. The most wonderful man in the world. Born 15th of September 1954," she smiles sadly. "He was always having adventures and... and he would of wanted to see me... that's what mum always says," she mutters. "So, I was thinking... could we? Could we go and see my dad when he was still alive?" she asks.

"Where's this come from, all of a sudden?" the Doctor asks.

"Alright then, if we can't, if it goes against the laws of times or something, then never mind, we'll just leave it," Rose mutters, looking away and messing with the console.

"Hey," I stand up and put my hands on her shoulder, turning her to me. "We can do anything, we're just worried about you," I tell her softly.

"I wanna see him," she says firmly, a tear sliding down her cheek.

I sigh and look back at the Doctor, who just shrugs: "helpful," I roll my eyes, turning back to Rose. "Your wish is my command, doll; but be careful what you wish for," I warn.

I step away from her and pilot the TARDIS. The Doctor, Rose, and I were sat in the back of Pete and Jackie's wedding. I had my arm around Rose's shoulders while she stares at her dad.

"I, Peter Alan Tyler, take you, Jacqueline, Angela, Suzette Prentiss," the registrar says.

"I, Peter Alan Tyler, take you, Jacqueline Suzanne... Suzette... Anita..." Pete fumbles on her name.

Pete looks at the registrar for help when Jackie narrows her eyes: "oh, just carry on," she sighs. "It's good enough for Lady Di," she smiles.

I smile at Rose and she just continues to stare at Pete: "I thought he'd be taller," she murmurs and I rub her arm.

The Doctor, Rose, and I head back to the TARDIS.

"It was a hit and run driver, no one was there... mum always wished there'd been someone with him," Rose mutters. "I wanna be that someone, so he doesn't die alone," she looks at me.

"November the 7th?" I make sure.

"1987," she nods.

I sigh and start the engines back up. I land us and Rose steps outside the door. I go to follow, but the Doctor's hand on my shoulder stops me: "this isn't a good idea," he mutters.

"I know," I murmur back, following Rose with the Doctor behind me.

"That's so weird," Rose frowns. "The day my father died... I thought it'd be all sort of grim and stormy, it's just an ordinary day," she looks around.

"The past is another country. 1987's just the Isle of Wight," the Doctor shrugs. "Are you sure about this?" he looks down at Rose.

"Yeah," Rose nods firmly.

Rose, the Doctor, and I head to Jordan Rd. and we stood by the street, waiting.

"This is it, Jordan Road," Rose mutters and I wrap an arm around her shoulders. "He was late... he'd been to get a wedding present, a vase. Mum always said, that stupid vase," she smiles slightly, her voice thick. "He got out of his car..." she trails off as a green car pulls up to the curb. "... and crossed the road... oh, God, this is it," she whispers.

I watch sadly as Pete gets out of the car and a beige car rounds the corner and hits him head on. Rose flinches in my arms and I tighten my hold on her as she buries her face in my shoulder. Tears well up in my eyes as Pete lies on the ground and twitches, the vase broken beside him.

"Go to him... quick," I murmur to her, rubbing her arm.

Rose shakes her head and breaks away from me, running around the corner. I sigh, rubbing my temples: "come on," I grab the Doctor's hand, pulling him after her.

I find her leaning against a wall, tears streaming down her face: "oh, doll," I shake my head, pulling her into my arms.

The Doctor leans on the wall beside us and folds his arms, watching Rose sadly.

"It's too late now," Rose cries when an ambulance sounds. "By the time the ambulance got there, he was dead," she chokes out and pulls away, looking at me. "He can't die on his own... can I try again?" she asks hesitantly.

I was going to say no, but one look at her heartbroken face and I caved. After setting the TARDIS a few minutes back the Doctor, Rose, and I were just around the corner. I look over and see the first set of us.

"Right, that's the first us," the Doctor mutters. "It's a very bad idea, two sets of us being here at the same time," he says, looking down at me with a pointed look and I bite my lip. "Just be careful they don't see us," he looks down at Rose. "Wait till she runs off and they follow, then go to your dad."

"Oh, God, this is it," other Rose whispers.

"I can't do this," my Rose shakes her head.

"You don't have to do anything if you don't want to, but this is the last time we can be here," I warn her softly.

Before I can even comprehend what's happening Rose runs out into the street: "Rose! No!" the Doctor and I yell.

My eyes widen as Rose pushes Pete out of the way and the earlier us disappear: "oh, no," I murmur in absolute horror.

"What did you do?" the Doctor mutters beside me in shock.

"I didn't- she just-" I splutter, staring as Rose helps her dad up. "Oh, my Merlin..." I whisper.

"This is fantastic, Eva, I did it again! I picked another stupid ape!" he rounds on me.

"Excuse me? If you're going to be a jerk then you can go wait in the TARDIS," I glare at him.

"No, we're leaving," he says firmly, grabbing my arm.

"I am not going without Rose," I pull my arm from his grasp. "She's already caused the damage, she may as well get to spend some time with her dad," I turn to see her beaming as her and Pete talk.

"30 minutes, she goes home after that," he grinds out.

"Because she made a mistake that was my fault?" I glare at him. "I knew better and I brought her here anyway, are you gonna send me home, then?" I raise an eyebrow.

"No," he says instantly.

"That's not fair; you won't send me home for a mistake, but you'll send Rose home for saving her dad," I glare, folding my arms, and he stays silent. "Just go wait by the TARDIS," I gesture to the general direction of where I parked her.

The Doctor looks over at Rose and sighs: "30 minutes," he reminds me. "Don't get into anymore trouble," he kisses my forehead before walking off.

"You and your friend need a lift?" I hear Pete ask and I turn to see him and Rose looking at me.

"Need a lift where?" I ask, walking over. "Hi, Evangeline Evans, call me Eva," I hold my hand out.

"Pete Tyler," he smiles, shaking my hand. "And to Sarah Clarke's wedding, you two need a lift?" he asks.

"Yeah, that'd be great, really," Rose nods, smiling widely. "Where's the Doctor?" she whispers to me.

"He... um... he had to check something with the TARDIS," I mutter and she nods.

Pete, Rose, and I head to the Tyler flat and I look around, seeing that there was loads more stuff everywhere.

"There we go," Pete puts the vase down. "Sorry about the mess. If you want a cup of tea, the kitchen's just down there, milk's in the fridge... well, it would be, wouldn't it? Where else would you put the milk? Mind you, there's always the window sill outside. I always thought if someone invented a window sill with special compartments, you know, one for milk, one for yogurt... make a lot of money out of that," he rambles and I lean against the wall with my arms folded, watching Rose carefully. "Sell it to students and things... I should write that down. Anyway, never mind that, excuse me..." he heads to the bedroom.

"All the stuff mum kept; his stuff," Rose looks around. "She kept it all packed away in boxes in the cupboard, she used to show me when she'd had a bit to drink," she laughs lightly. "Here it is. On display. Where it should be," she smiles before picking up a trophy. "Third prize at the bowling... first two got to go to Didcot," she shows it to me and I nod slowly and she bends down to look at some crates of bottles. "Health drinks. Tonics, mum used to call them. He made his money selling this Vitex stuff. He had all sorts of jobs. He's so clever," she smiles before spotting some blueprints on the table. "Solar power. Mum said he was gonna do this. Now he can," she looks at me, beaming and I just pick at my glove. "Ok, what's wrong? You've looked like you sucked a lemon since we walked in," she jokes.

"Rose... this is bad, very bad," I shake my head. "You should not have run out like that," I tell her seriously and her smile fades.

"So it's ok when you and the Doctor go to other times, and you save people's lives, but not when it's me saving my dad," she glares at me.

"The two of us know what we're doing, you don't," I retort. "Two sets of us being there made it a vulnerable point," I explain.

"But he's alive!" she gestures to the bedroom Pete went into.

"My mum, my godfather, my aunt and uncle, countless friends, my entire other home planet and people!" I glare at her. "Do you think it never once crossed my mind to go back and save them?"

"But it's not like I've changed history," Rose tries. "Not much, I mean... he's never gonna be a world leader, he's not gonna start World War Three or anything-"

I sigh and rub my temples: "Rose, an ordinary man is the most important thing in the entire universe and now one's alive when he's meant to be dead," I shake my head. "The whole world is different because he's alive, because yousaved him," I try to explain.

"What, would you rather him dead?" Rose glares at me.

"I'm not saying that-"

"No, I get it! For once, you're not the most important person in my life," she snaps.

"I'm not saying this because I'm jealous you're paying more attention to your dad than me," I try to say as calmly as I can, losing my temper wouldn't do either of us any good. "You need to understand; everything is different now and I don't know what's going to happen..." I shake my head. "There's laws to stop this kind of thing from happening or to fix it if it does, but the people who stopped all that are sort of dead," I rub my temples.

"But he's my dad," she says thickly, tears welling up in her eyes.

"I know... but it was still wrong," I tell her firmly. "I'm gonna give you and your dad some time alone... then we're going," I pull her into a hug. "I'll wait by the TARDIS, alright?"

"The Doctor didn't need to check anything, did he? He's angry with me," she pulls away, looking down.

"Yes..." I admit, shifting on my feet. "But don't worry, he'll get over it soon enough," I assure her. "Stay safe, doll," I mutter.

"You got it, babe," she winks, making my lips twitch up.

"You're a dork," I snort before walking out.

I was walking down the street when the hairs on the back neck stood up and I got a feeling like I was being watched. I pick up my pace and run to the TARDIS. I don't even acknowledge the Doctor, who was leaning against the door with his arms folded, as I unlock the door and my eyes widen. The inside of the TARDIS was gone!

"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck," I mutter, stepping inside and feeling the walls... that I could touch just by stretching my arms.

"Rose!" the Doctor growls out before heading off to the Powell Estate.

"She'll be on the way to the church by now!" I call, running to follow.

The Doctor and I hurry as fast as we can to the church and I see Rose standing on the curb, facing away from us: "Rose!" I scream, pushing myself faster as she turns around with a smile.

"Get in the church!" the Doctor shouts.

Rose's smile fades and I look up when a reaper, a demonesque creature with bat wings, appears in the sky. I get to Rose and knock her to the ground as she screams: "get in the church," I tell her seriously, standing and giving her a hand up.

All of the people outside try to run into the church but another reaper appears.

"Oh, my God! What are they?" a woman screams.

"Inside!" the Doctor and I shout.

Some of the people try to come outside and I pull my wand out, about to send a stunning spell at the reaper by the doors.

"Stay in there!" the Doctor shouts when a man runs out.

'Stupefy' one of the reapers were knocked back, but my eyes widen at the voice... oh, Merlin. I look over and don't even register the other reaper pouncing on someone when I see a very familiar man.

"Sirius..." I whisper, tears welling up in my eyes.

My eyes widen even further when another stunning spell sends the other reaper back, only it came from a woman with long, ginger hair: "mum..." I mutter, my voice cracking.

The Doctor grabs my arm firmly: "in!" he shouts to the other people as he drags me into the church, Rose right beside us.

I shake myself out of my shock when the reapers screech and the Doctor and I look around.

"They can't get in... old windows and doors, ok, the older something is, the stronger it is," the Doctor says quickly. "What else?" he turns to me.

I shrug and turn to some of the guests: "go and check the other doors! Move!" I order them.

I run over to a wooden door and push on it, making sure it's secure.

"What's happening? What are they?" a woman grabs my arm and I turn and raise my eyebrows to see a young Jackie Tyler with big, curly hair. "What are they?"

"There's been an accident in time, a wound in time... they're like bacteria, taking advantage," I explain quickly.

"What do you mean, time? What're you jabbering on about, time?" she demands.

"Oh, I might've known you'd argue," the Doctor rolls his eyes, coming up beside me. "Jackie, I'm sick of you complaining-"

"How do you know my name?" her eyes widen.

"We haven't got time for this-!"

"I've never met either you in my life!" she shouts.

"Yeah, well you won't unless we get this sorted!" I shout back, making her go quiet. "So, if you haven't got anything else to gripe about, I've waited long enough to say this! Jackie Tyler, shut the hell up and do as I say! Go. And. Check. The. Doors," I point to the other doors.

Jackie stares at me for a moment: "yes, ma'am," she nods, walking off.

"I should've done that ages ago," I smile up at the Doctor, who snorts.

"My dad was out there," a man, the groom? comes up to us.

"I'm very sorry," I mutter, checking the windows around us.

"You can mourn him later, right now we've got to concentrate on keeping ourselves alive," the Doctor tells him softly.

"My dad had-"

"There's nothing we can do for him," I shake my head.

"No, but he had this phone thing," he holds up a huge phone. "I can't get it to work, I keep getting this voice..." he hands it to me.

I frown and dial a random number and put it up to my ear: "Watson, come here, we need you. Watson, come here, we need you," comes through and I blink in shock. "That's the very first phone call," I murmur, handing it to the Doctor.

He puts the phone up to his ear: "Alexander Graham Bell," he nods, smiling slightly. "I don't think the telephone's gonna be much use," he hands it back to the groom.

The Doctor and I head to the other doors. I keep my eyes away from where my mum and Sirius are at the other end, checking windows and locking them with their wands.

"But someone must call the police!" the groom calls after us.

"Police can't help you now, no one can," the Doctor shakes his head. "Nothing in this Universe can harm those things. Time's been damaged and they've come to sterilise the wound," he walks over to Rose, who was leaning against one of the pews, watching him intently.

"By consuming everything in sight," I tell her gently.

"Is this because..." Rose trails off shakily. "Is this my fault?" her voice cracks.

The Doctor gives her a pointed look before walking off. I sigh and run a hand though my hair before slipping my wand in my boot: "it's my fault too..." I pull her into a tight hug. "I shouldn't've brought you here... it was stupid and reckless and the Doctor is just pissed right now... he'll come round," I squeeze her before pulling away and offering her a smile.

"You're not pissed at me?" she frowns in confusion.

"No... well, a bit," I admit, scratching my head. "But I'm mainly angry with myself for giving in when you asked, I know better," I shake my head.

"Is he gonna... is the Doctor gonna send me home?" she asks hesitantly.

"No, I'd never let that happen," I tell her firmly, making her beam. "Now, I've got to go check the doors and windows, you should too," I tell her and she nods before walking off.

I sigh heavily and jump when someone comes up beside me: "are you a witch? I saw a wand," a female voice whispers.

"Y-yes," I stutter out, turning to see my mum with her bright orange hair and her warm brown eyes. "Sorry," I shake my head. "Um... what's your name?"

"Violet Evans," she smiles. "Did you go to Hogwarts?"

"Yeah, I did," I nod slowly. "I was a Gryffindor..."

"Really? I was a Ravenclaw, but my twin sister and best friends were Gryffindors and I never saw you..." she frowns. "Padfoot!" she calls over her shoulder.

My eyes widen slightly when Sirius comes over. He looks so care-free, not with all the hurt and pain from losing his best friends and spending 12 years in Azkaban.

"What is it, Vi- hello, Sirius Black, what's your name?" he smirks, looking me up and down and I raise an eyebrow.

"John and Lucy Smith," the Doctor appears at my side, making me jump and he snorts quietly, putting his hand on my shoulder.

"Lucy said she was in Gryffindor, but I've never seen her, have you?" mum asks him.

"I think I'd remember you, sweetheart," Sirius smirks, taking my hand and kissing the back of it.

"Um..." I pull my hand from his, trying not to cringe at my mum's best mate hitting on me. "I mostly stayed in the library..."

"Ah, that's why," mum nods. "Did you ever even step foot in the library?" she smirks at Sirius.

"Who needs books? I'm naturally a genius!" he says smugly, making me cover my mouth to hide a laugh. "I had more important things to do," he waves off.

"Like prank with James and Remus?" mum raises an eyebrow, smirking.

"Exactly," Sirius smiles cheekily.

"Look, um, nice meeting you two, but... um, we've gotta run," I mutter, grabbing the Doctor's hand and pulling him off before they can say anything. "Oh, my Merlin... what the hell are they doing here!?" I whisper-shout.

"I don't know," the Doctor shrugs. "Your mum was a Muggle-born, maybe she knew the bride or groom, or one of the guests," he offers as we check doors on our way through an empty corridor.

"This has all gone to shit; Rose's dad and my mum and Sirius... along with the reapers and the TARDIS being gone... I am so stupid," I mutter, banging my head on the wall.

"No, you were just trying to give your friend something nice... Rose took advantage of your soft spot for her," he retorts, leaning against the wall beside me and stopping me from banging my head again.

I let the Doctor pull me in front of him and I wrap my arms around his waist, letting his hearts and his old leather smell soothe me as his arms go around my shoulders.

"She's your friend too, don't act like she isn't just because you're angry with her," I poke him. "What are we gonna do?"

"I don't know, love," the Doctor admits, laying his chin on top of my head.

"I'm sorry..." I murmur.

"I know," he kisses the top of my head, rubbing my back. "Come on, we've got to check the rest of the doors," he pulls away and drags me along the corridor where I see Pete at a door.

I go over to check a window, the Doctor beside me, and my hearts tighten. Outside was the beige car that should have killed Pete. It rounds the corner and disappears before happening again... oh, Rose.

"There's smoke coming up from the city but no sirens," Pete says when he sees me. "I-I don't think it's just us, I think these things are all over the place... maybe the whole world," he shakes his head, coming over and looking out the window. "Was that a car?" he frowns.

"It's not important, don't worry about it," I say firmly, pulling the Doctor away.

The Doctor and I check around some more doors, him with his sonic and me with my wand.

"Excuse me! Mr. and Mrs..." a man trails off.

"Smith," the Doctor answers, not looking up.

"Did you really have to introduce us like we were married?" I give the Doctor a pointed look and he just winks at me, making me roll my eyes and go back to my work to hide a blush.

"You two seem to know what's going on," the man continues.

"We give that impression, yeah," I nod, pointing my wand at one of the doors: 'Colloportus' and the lock clicks.

"I just wanted to ask-"

"Can you save us?" a woman cuts in and I look up, slipping my wand in boot, to see it was the bride and groom.

"What's your names?" I raise an eyebrow at them, the Doctor coming up beside me and pocketing his sonic.

"Stuart Hoskins," the groom introduces.

"Sarah Clarke," the bride smiles.

"And one extra," the Doctor nods to Sarah's clear baby bump. "Boy or girl?"

"I don't know... I don't want to know, really," Sarah smiles, running her hands over her bump.

"How'd you two meet?" I ask.

"Outside the Big Box Club; two in the morning," Stuart smiles.

"Street corner... I'd lost my purse, didn't have money for a taxi," Sarah laughs lightly.

"I took her home," Stuart says.

"Then what? Asked her for a date?" the Doctor smiles.

"Wrote his number on the back of my hand," Sarah shakes her head, smiling.

"Never got rid of her since," Stuart smiles at Sarah and I smile at the love in his eyes. "My dad said..." he falters and Sarah's smile fades.

"I don't know what this is all about and I know we're not important..." Sarah starts tearfully, making me frown.

"Who said you're not important?" the Doctor asks, shocked. "Lucy and I've traveled to all sorts of places. Done things you couldn't even imagine, but... you two... street corner. Two in the morning. Getting a taxi home. I've never had a life like that," he smiles between them.

"And I can't, you're so lucky and so, so very important," I smile sadly. "Yes, we'll try and save you," I promise.

"Thank you," Sarah pulls me into a hug, making me chuckle. "Oh, sorry," she pulls back. "Hormones," she laughs sheepishly.

"No, it's alright," I smile. "Um... can I?" I gesture to her belly.

"Sure, go ahead, most people don't even ask," she shakes her head.

I bend down a bit and put my hands on Sarah's baby: "hi, little baby," I whisper and then gasp. "It kicked me," I say in awe.

"Gonna be a football star, that one," Stuart smiles.

I straighten and smile between the couple: "congratulations; for the wedding and the baby," I say sincerely.

"Excuse me, Lucy?" I turn to see Jackie holding a carry-cot. "Could you watch her? Little madame, she is," she smiles down at baby Rose.

"Oh... um, yeah, of course," I smile, taking baby Rose from her.

"Thanks, darling," she smiles before turning around. "Mick! Where did you get off to!?" she calls, walking off.

"Nice talking to you," I smile at the bride and groom. "Best get her somewhere quiet, though," I nod down to baby Rose.

"Sure, and thank you again," Sarah smiles before pulling Stuart off.

"Hi, baby doll," I coo down at baby Rose.

I laugh lightly when she gurgles up at me and I hold out my hand for her to grab my finger. The Doctor and I sit on a pew and I set the carry-cot between us.

"What did you mean you can't have a life like that?" the Doctor asks, looking down at baby Rose.

I glance up at him before looking back at baby Rose and letting her play with my fingers: "even if I wanted to stop traveling with you and settle down, which I don't, or even if I wouldn't outlive any potential boyfriend... I can't have a baby," I mutter quietly, tears welling up, and he furrows his eyebrows at me. "Snape gave me a potion to make me infertile when he found out-" I cut off and my face contorts. "He saved me from having to carry that evil monster's child... I'm grateful, but-" I cut off again and a tear slides down my cheek. "'Mione's been trying to find a potion to reverse it but she hasn't been able to find anything..." I mutter.

"I didn't know..." the Doctor murmurs, wiping my tear away with his thumb.

"I didn't find out until after Snape died... he gave Harry and me his memories," I whisper, stroking baby Rose's hair.

"I'm sorry," he says quietly.

"Don't be, nothing you can do," I shrug. "Now, doll, you're not gonna cause the world to end, are you," I coo to her and a reaper screeches from outside. "Are you?" I mutter and I glance at Rose when she comes over. "Jackie gave her to me to look after," I smile.

"How times change," the Doctor snorts, not even bothering to glance at Rose.

"You were such a cute baby," I smile, tickling baby Rose and making her giggle.

"I'd better be careful... I think I just imprinted myself on Mickey like a mother chicken," Rose tries to joke and goes to touch the baby.

I grab her wrist before she can and she looks at me questioningly: "you can't touch the baby," I shake my head. "You and her are the same person, so that's a paradox... we really don't want that happening with the reapers outside because any sort of disturbance makes them stronger... a paradox might just let them in," I explain.

"Can't do anything right, can I?" Rose asks quietly.

"Since you ask, no," the Doctor snaps. "So, don't! Touch! The! Baby!" he says slowly as if Rose was daft.

"I'm not stupid," Rose narrows her eyes at him.

"You could've fooled me," the Doctor glares, making Rose look away in hurt.

"Stop it, she didn't know," I glare at the Doctor.

The Doctor looks from me to the hurt and dejected Rose and sighs: "alright, I'm sorry," he says softly and Rose looks back at him. "But between you girls and me, I haven't got a plan; no idea, no way out," he mutters.

"You'll think of something; two of you together? Unstoppable," Rose smiles slightly, making me smile as well and the Doctor's lips twitch up.

"The entire Earth is being sterilized," the Doctor sighs. "This, and other place like it, are all that's left of the human race. We might hold out for a while, but nothing can stop those creatures. They'll get through in the end. The walls aren't that old. And there's nothing we can do to stop them. There used to be laws stopping this kind of thing from happening, my people would have stopped this. But they're all gone... now I'm going the same way and I'm taking Eva down with me," he mutters.

I reach over and grab his hand, squeezing it and he sends me a small smile.

"If I'd realized..." Rose trails off, her voice cracking.

I stand up and put my hands on her shoulders: "just... tell us you're sorry," I mutter.

"I am, I'm sorry," she says sincerely, looking between the Doctor and I with a tear sliding down her cheek.

"You're forgiven, doll," I smile, wiping her tear away and pulling her into a tight hug.

Rose squeezes me tight and grabs the Doctor's arm, pulling him into our hug and making him chuckle quietly. I frown and pull away: "have you got something hot?" I ask Rose.

"I was gonna ask you that," she frowns.

I reach into her jacket pocket and she grabs my wrist. Her TARDIS key and mine were both glowing bright. I take mine off my charm bracelet quickly and hold both keys in my gloved hand.

"It's the TARDIS keys!" the Doctor exclaims, taking his jacket off and using it to take Rose's key.

I run my finger along mine: "they're telling us they're still connected to the TARDIS!" I cheer.

The Doctor and I run up to the pulpit and address the crowd, who were sitting in the pews: "the inside of our ship was thrown out of a wound but we can use this to bring it back," he holds a key up.

"Once we've got our ship back, then we can mend everything," I smile. "We just need a bit of power... has anybody got a battery?" I ask.

Stuart jumps up and holds up his dad's mobile phone: "this one big enough?"

The Doctor and I beam at each other: "-fantastic!" "-wicked!"

"Good old dad," Stuart smiles. "There you go," he hands it to me and I hand it to the Doctor.

"Just need to do a bit of charging up..." the Doctor trails off and presses his sonic to the battery. "And then we can bring everyone back," he smiles at the guests.

I look over and see mum and Sirius watching me and I bite my lip: "I'll be right back," I mutter to the Doctor, not looking at him.

"Don't do anything stupid," he warns, seeing where I was looking.

"I won't," I promise, kissing his cheek before wandering over to them. "Hey," I smile between them.

"You're not just a witch, are you?" Sirius raises an eyebrow, leaning back on the pew with his feet up on the one in front of him.

"No," I shake my head, sitting on the pew in front of them on my knees.

"Who are you and him, Lucy?" mum asks, studying me carefully as she leans forward.

"Our names aren't Lucy or John Smith," I mutter. "They're the Doctor and... and Evangeline Evans," I tell them and watch carefully as their eyes widen in realization.

"No... puppy?" Sirius asks with wide eyes as he looks me over.

"Hi, Pads," I smile awkwardly.

"Eva..." mum whispers in shock. "How did you- why are you here?" she asks.

"I brought my friend to see her dad," I tell her.

"You're traveling with the Doctor now? What about your father?" she asks.

"Yeah and I see dad every so often," I lie, shrugging. "You know him and the Doctor would never travel together," I smile, making her snort.

"No, they wouldn't," she smiles.

"Have you regenerated? You're Irish," Sirius notes.

"Yeah, only once, though," I lie again. "I did have your hair and blue eyes in my first body," I smile. "Where is little me, anyway?" I ask.

"Oh, you're at home with James and Lily, playing with your cousin Harry," she smiles. "I was friends with Sarah when we were kids, so she invited me... I was gonna bring Remus, but it was the full moon last night," she whispers.

"Poor, Moony," I shake my head, ignoring my hearts clenching at his name.

"Yeah, now I'm stuck with this moron who even though there's a crisis, is flirting with anything that breathes," she rolls her eyes.

"Man-whore," I smirk at Sirius.

"Oi!" he exclaims, only for mum to put her hand over his mouth when a few people look over.

"So, were you really in Gryffindor?" mum asks me.

"Yeah, I was," I nod, smiling. "So was Harry," I tell her.

"My little puppies grew into lions," Sirius says dramatically, wiping away fake tears.

"Oh, my Merlin, Sirius, you're an idiot," I giggle.

"A hot, charming, and genius one," he winks at me.

"If you think so," I raise an eyebrow.

"I know so," he smirks, making me snort.

"Right, no one touches that key!" the Doctor announces and I look over to see the TARDIS materializing around the key. "Have you got that? Don't touch it. Anyone touches that key, it'll be, well, zap," he warns. "Just leave it be and everything will be fine. We'll get out of here. All of us. Stuart, Sarah, you're gonna get married, just like Lucy and me said," he grins down at them.

"I'm gonna kill you for that name," I glare at him and he winks at me.

"The Doctor introduced the two of you like you were married... are you together?" mum asks.

"No," I shake my head quickly, my cheeks turning pink. "We're... no, we're definitely not," I say firmly.

"You sure about that?" Sirius raises an eyebrow at me.

"Yes, even if I- it would never- I mean, it couldn't-" I splutter, my cheeks going red as he raises both eyebrows. "Shut up," I groan miserably, covering my face when him and mum start laughing.

"Oh, my little girl fancies a man," mum smirks at me.

"I do not," I try to be firm, but my voice goes all high.

"Aw, looks, she's all flustered," Sirius coos, reaching forward and pinching my cheek.

"Stop it," I complain, swatting his hand away. "We're just friends..." I mutter.

"Really close friends," Sirius smirks.

"I hate you both," I 'glare' at them.

"Love you, too," they smile at the same time and then high-five.

"You alright?" the Doctor asks behind me and I look back at him to see he was standing there with his arms folded.

"Yep, great," I squeak, making him raise an eyebrow and mum and Sirius snicker.

Mum stands up and holds her arms out: "Doctor," she smiles widely.

"Vi," he smiles, hugging her tightly. "Sirius," he smiles when he pulls away.

"Doctor," Sirius smirks, looking him over. "Sort of a rebel look now, where's the question marks or the celery on your lapel?" he snorts.

"The old looks were nice and quirky and fun, but I like his new look," I smile up at the Doctor, making him smirk smugly at Sirius.

"I'd bet you'd like it more if he-" Sirius snickers and I kick his ankle, making him yelp. "You got violent with age," he glares at me, sitting down and rubbing his ankle. "What happened to snuggling with me on the couch for a nap?" he whines.

"I'm not three months old anymore," I roll my eyes.

I get distracted when I see Rose siting with her dad: "we'd better go check on Rose," I sigh.

"That's your friend, yeah?" mum asks, pointing over to her.

"Yeah, she's really great," I smile widely. "Talk to you in a bit?" I ask.

"Absolutely," mum smiles, pulling me into a tight hug.

I pull away and grab the Doctor hand, dragging him over to Rose as I breathe out shakily: "I've seen my mum before... in pictures, at the graveyard, before Harry and me defeated Voldemort... even talked to her, but not when she was so alive and happy..." I whisper, a few tears sliding down my cheeks.

"We'll be out of here soon," the Doctor promises me, squeezing my hand.

I smile at Pete, who was siting behind Rose and he nods back. "How ya doing, doll?" I ask, siting beside her, the Doctor siting on her other side.

"Great, fine," she nods. "Um... when time gets sorted out..." she trails off.

"Everyone here forgets everything, like it never happened," I shrug.

"And don't worry, the thing that you changed will stay changed," the Doctor assures her.

"You mean I'll still be alive," Pete says and the three of us turn to face him. "Though I'm meant to be dead," he raises an eyebrow and nods when he gets nothing but silence. "That's why I haven't done anything with my life, why I didn't mean anything," he scowls.

"It doesn't work like that," the Doctor shakes his head.

"Rubbish, I'm so useless I couldn't even die properly," he scoffs. "Now it's my fault all of this has happened."

Rose reaches over and puts her hand on his arm: "this is my fault," she says, her voice cracking.

"No, love. I'm your dad. It's my job for it to be my fault," Pete says softly.

"Her dad? How are you her dad? How old were you, twelve?" Jackie pops up beside us angrily.

The Doctor rolls his eyes and grabs my hand, pulling me up and away from the Tylers. I block them out at I stand in front of the Doctor and lean my back against his chest, playing with my glove.

"Oh, for God's sake, look! It's the same Rose!" Pete suddenly yells and my eyes widen in horror when I look over and see him take baby Rose from Jackie and place her in my Rose's arms.

"Rose! No!" the Doctor and I scream as I pull the baby from her arms.

A reaper pops up in the middle of the church and everyone shoots out of their seats and screams.

"Everyone! Behind me!" the Doctor shouts and everyone doesn't even hesitate to as the reaper chirps and screeches loudly.

I hand baby Rose over to Jackie and try to stand by the Doctor, but I was being tousled by the frantic crowd.

"I'm the oldest thing in here," he yells at the reaper and it pounces on him.

"Doctor!" Rose and I yell as I shoot forward.

"No!" I scream, watching in absolute horror as the reaper devours him.

I get my wand out and aim it at the reaper, but it hits the TARDIS and disappears with it. I watch as the key falls to the ground. I walk over and pick it up shakily: "he's dead... the Doctor's dead," I choke out, stumbling back into a pew as I cover my mouth.

"Oh, my God," Rose whispers, coming up beside me and tries to pull me into a hug.

"He's dead," I repeat blankly, stepping away from her. "It's all my fault... I should never have- I killed him, I killed the Doctor," I whisper as tears run down my face silently.

"Eva, I'm so sorry," Rose puts her hand on my shoulder, her voice cracking. "I never meant-"

"I'll never see him again," I turn into her arms and clutch onto her as a sob racks through my body.

"Eva..." I hear mum say hesitantly and I turn from Rose and clutch onto her.

"He's gone... I killed him, mum," I cry into her neck.

"Shh... it's alright, my darling," she coos, stroking my hair.

After a while I was just numb... I couldn't feel anything except for my hearts aching painfully. I was siting on a pew, mum and Sirius siting to my right, while I pull on my glove. Rose comes over and sits on my left.

"Are you alright?" she asks gently.

"No," I shake my head. "What am I supposed to do now?" I ask, voice cracking as I grab her hand.

"You try your best to move on," mum says and I look over at her. "Losing people we love is never easy, and it won't ever be any less painful... but you'll learn to put it aside, move on with your life," she says softly, brushing my hair from my face.

"But I can't," I shake my head. "The world's coming to an end and I've got no one and no way out," I whisper.

"You've got me and Padfoot and Rose, my darling," she retorts.

"There is a way," Pete says suddenly and I look up at him. "The Doctor and you really care about my daughter... you didn't want her to go through it again if there was another way... now there isn't," he shakes his head.

"Pete, no," I shake my head.

"What're you talking about?" Rose asks, standing up.

"The car that should've killed me, love it's here," Pete tells her. "The Doctor and her worked it out way back, but they, um, they tried to protect me," he pulls his blazer on. "Still, they're not in charge anymore, I am," he says.

"But you can't..." Rose mutters, her voice cracking.

Pete reaches out and strokes Rose's face: "who am I, love?"

"My Daddy," Rose cries.

"Jackie... look at her, she's ours," Pete says when she comes over.

Jackie stares at Rose in realization: "oh, God..." she whispers and throws her arms around Rose.

"I'm meant to be dead, Jackie. You're gonna get rid of me at last," Pete tries to joke..

"Don't say that," Jackie cries, pulling away from Rose.

"For once in your life, trust me. It's got be done. You've got to survive, because you've got to bring up our daughter," he gestures to Rose and pulls Jackie in for a last kiss before turning to Rose. "I never read you those bedtime stories. I never took you on those picnics. I was never there for you," he shakes his head.

"You would've been," Rose cries.

"But I can do this for you. I can be a proper dad to you now," he says firmly.

"But it's not fair," Rose chokes out.

"I've had all these extra hours, no one else in the world has ever had that," he smiles. "And on top of that... I get to see you and you're beautiful," he cups her face in his hand. "How lucky am I, eh? So, come on... do as your dad says," he says and Rose slowly grabs the vase and hands it to him. "Are you going to be there for me, love?" he asks and Rose nods. "Thanks for saving me," he smiles, pulling Jackie and Rose into a tight hug.

"Pete..." I stand and he looks over at me. "You don't have to," I shake my head.

"Look after her for me, will you?" he asks as he pulls away from his wife and daughter.

I sigh at the complete determination in his eyes: "with my life," I promise, grabbing Rose's hand and squeezing it.

Pete runs out with the vase and I hold Rose in my arms as she cries silently. The reapers disappear and my mum and Sirius don't even notice me, their memory of everything from today being gone.

"Go to him, quick," I whisper to Rose and she pulls away and runs out of the church.

I feel a hand on my shoulder and close my eyes at the familiar warmth: "Doctor..." I breathe out.

"Eva," he greets as if he hadn't just been eaten by a reaper, wrapping his arms around me.

"I thought-" I break off, turning in his arms. "You were dead," I bury my face in his neck.

"I'm right here, love," he murmurs, kissing the top of my head.

"Please don't ever get eaten again," I mutter, making him snort.

"What's life without a little risk?" he asks.

"No using my own words against me either, sweetie," I poke his stomach, making him groan and pinch my side.

I pull away and smile up at him, looking him over for any sort of injury or anything: "can we go home?" I ask.

"I think so," he nods and the two of us walk out and go over to Rose, who was saying goodbye to her father.

"Come on, doll," I murmur softly, helping her stand.

"Peter Alan Tyler, my dad, the most wonderful man in the world... died the 7th of November, 1987," she whispers as we walk back to the TARDIS.
