Chapter 9: Gravity
(note: I've been notified that Nakajima is the last name and Atsushi is the given name, so I'm gonna switch it around in this chapter. If it's the other way around, let me know. Thanks yall!)
Chuuya dusted imaginary dust off himself as he got ready for the day. He adjusted his hat, scanning his appearance in the mirror. He wasn't wearing anything special, just what he normally wore, except.. Today seemed different to him. Of course it would be, since he had a goal today: to meet Atsushi Nakajima, the girl Akutagawa always talked about.
"Alright," Chuuya muttered to himself in the mirror, trying to hype himself up subconsciously. "You're one of the Port Mafia executives, and no girl is going to make you weak in the knees, no matter what Akutagawa says. Let's do this."
After doing what he needed to do that morning, he adjusted his hat one more time and headed out for the day.
—> Armed Detective Agency
Atsushi finished her morning routine and yawned, stretching. She scrutinized her appearance in the mirror. She smiled brightly at herself. "Today is gonna be a great day!" She cheered, feeling like today was indeed going to be a great day. She didn't know why she had this good feeling, but a good feeling was always welcome in her books.
After adjusting the parts on herself and her outfit that needed to be adjusted, she was ready for another bright day. She walked out of the bathroom to check the calendar and realized something. "Oh, today is Saturday! I think I'll do some shopping today, then."
With that, Atsushi headed out to do some shopping.
—> Later...
Atsushi sighed miserably as she sat on the bench in the park. "I can't believe I forgot my wallet at home," she sighed again. "At least I remembered before I went in any stores."
"Is something wrong?" A smooth voice interrupted her ramblings, causing her to look up at the male. "Sorry, I saw you sighing and I assumed something bad had happened."
"It's alright," Atsushi mustered up a weak smile towards him. "I just forgot my wallet at home. Uhm, if you don't mind me asking, what's your name?"
"I'm Chuuya Nakahara," he introduced himself with a smile and sat next to Atsushi on the bench. "Sorry for not introducing myself earlier, it must've slipped my mind."
"T-That's alright," Atsushi blushed slightly at the attention she was getting from such a handsome male. She only came out here to shop but she ended up meeting Chuuya, who she had no idea was in the Port Mafia. "I-I'm Atsushi Nakajima."
"That's a fitting name for a beautiful girl like you," Chuuya flirted slightly. In his head, he was screaming about how Akutagawa was right about how easy it was to fall in love with her.
"M-Me, beautiful?" She laughed, embarrassed. "T-Thank you, Nakahara-san, but I'm just plain, not beautiful.."
"Eh? Who told you that you were plain?" Internally, angry gathered in Chuuya at the thought of someone calling the girl plain and normal-looking. She wasn't any normal type of girl— not at all. She was amazing, beautiful, and definitely someone you could fall in love with at first sight. Chuuya hadn't known Atsushi very long but he knew that she was gonna be very important to him. "I've just met you but I know that you're the most amazing girl I've ever met."
Atsushi's face was so red that it could be considered a tomato. "N-Nakahara-san, I-I-I'm- T-Thank y-yo-"
"You're adorable when you're flustered," Chuuya laughed. The sound of his laughter was practically music to Atsushi's ears. He calmed down a minute later. "Anyways, Nakajima-"
"You can call me Atsushi," she blurted by accident. "Oh no, sorry for interrupting you,
"It's okay, Atsushi. By the way, you can call me Chuuya." The sound of her name rolled off Chuuya's tongue easily. "Anyways, Atsushi, I was about to ask you if you'd like to go to dinner with me tonight."
"On a d-date?" Atsushi exclaimed, her heart starting to beat a mile a minute. "S-Sure! But.. We haven't exchanged numbers yet.."
The two then proceeded to put in their numbers in each other phones before giving the phones back to the respective owner. (If you're wondering, during the week Atsushi had gotten a phone from Dazai.)
"There. Now we can text each other." Without letting her see his phone, Chuuya changed Atsushi's contact name to 'Love of My Life'. "Send me your address later and I'll pick you up at eight."
Atsushi shyly nodded. "O-Okay."
They chatted for a bit to get to know each other before parting ways temporarily.
—> Dazai Osamu
Dazai's grip tightened around his binoculars so much so that his knuckles were beginning to turn white. He whipped his head around to face Tanizaki, who he had dragged with him on his 'secret mission to not spy on Atsushi'. "Tanizaki-kun! Do you see this?!"
Tanizaki scratched his cheek in awkwardness. "I might have a crush on Nakajima-san, but I'm not obsessed with her like you are. She can do what she wants on her own time-"
Dazai put down the binoculars and started to rapidly shake Tanizaki's shoulders. "She's going on a date with the worst person on earth!" He exclaimed. "We have to warn her, as her suitors!"
"If we're her suitors, shouldn't we be something like.. What's it called?" Tanizaki paused for a second before snapping his fingers as the name came to him. "Love rivals! It's called love rivals."
"Exactly, Tanizaki-kun! As other love rivals, we must knock him out of the game before he can get close to her!" Dazai explained. "So that's why we're going to make sure—"
It was at that point Tanizaki gave up on saving Dazai from his abnormal obsession. He got up slowly, and started to walk his way home. Dazai chased after him frantically, calling for him to come back to discuss their plan.
—> Meanwhile..
Chuuya texted Dazai with a smirk.
Chuuya: Say goodbye to Atsushi
Dazai: she'll never fall 4 u, ur too short
Chuuya: you're too tall, so she won't fall 4 u either nitwit
Dazai: at least I'm tall
Chuuya shoved his phone in his pocket at Dazai's last text in frustration.
