Ask the Gods to Pull Down the Sky, Do It.
Jack's hands trembled a bit as he picked up the letter from the thirty-third page of the History of the United States. It was only a mere coincidence that the letter was found on that page, or was it? Gusto was intrigued with the paper, he wanted to grab hold of it, but Jack was pulling it away from him and handed his partner the book instead.
"To our dearest friends," the letter began as Jack read, he cleared his throat and adjusted his collar, as if he were wearing a tie that was a bit too tight for him, but he didn't have a tie on. "Jack and Gusto," he added in his continual whispered voice. "We are pleased to inform you that you have finally found this letter, read it carefully, because there's a lot that we have to explain." Instead of one paper, there were two, and a photograph in between the two of them as well. Jack goes back to the next paragraph. "Don't fly up to close to the sun, or your wings would get clipped off; a metaphor that explains the story of Icarus and his wings when he created wings and molded them together with wax. He flew too close to the sun, and then his wings ultimately melted off and he fell to his death. This was a lesson learned by the inventor, but of course things happen for a reason; and consequences had to be made. "
"He should've known not to get too close to the sun, he would have lived if he didn't. However, when two men get too close to the sun; things happen and people get angry. This letter is meant to keep those two men safe and well out of arms way, but we can't keep an Eye on them forever, now can We?" Jack glanced down at the letter, he wondered why some of the letters have been capitalized.... he continues-
"-It's only necessary that we show you the ropes of the new world. WE only wanted to make things right, but then the sun came too close. Total disaster nearly occurred and missions were disengaged. Let's hope that these two men don't get in the way again and that they'll be better off without our help, but what if things escalate and get worse-"
"-What do you mean get worse?" Gusto nudged Jack and placed the book on the shelf, with its bottom standing upright.
"I don't know, I think when it refers to two men, I think that that means us. We got too close to the sun." Jack looked at the paragraphs he had read. "It doesn't make complete sense, but I think it's giving us a warning and telling us that we should probably lay back and start a new see here listen."
"Jack and Gusto you two are going to need each other. Stay close to each other and stay vigilant; this is going to be a bumpy ride and things will get tougher later on, but if you want to know some things about you two, take this photograph on the next page. It'll give you a clue to where to go next. The address should be on the back of the photo. And if you need money, or anything go onto this website and type in the CODE." There was a government website written carefully on the bottom of the second page as well, and a user and a password. The username was RAMB0 and the Password was GnR33B$. Jack figured that the password and username must mean something to them, but wasn't sure what it was.
"That's it?"
"That's it."
"So what do we do now?" Gusto asked, as he took the photo and observed it. They were standing in front of a McDonald's parking lot, arms wrapped around each other's shoulders, smiling and they appeared to be joyful. There were some blue/grey clouds in the sky above, and the McDonald's seemed to be located near a highway of some sort.
Then Gusto turned the photograph around to the back, and an address was imprinted on it. The state was in South Dakota, and the year dated back to a few years back. Why would they be at McDonald's and smiling? When all this time, Gusto has had a weird feeling about Jack, he's not quite sure what it is, but maybe he should just stick with him like the letter advised him too.
He handed the letter to his companion.
"South Dakota hm?" Jack asked in regards of the photo. The street on the side seemed empty, which was strange.
"Code was capitalized." Gusto said. "May I see the letter?"
"Sure, here." Jack said handing him the letter." Jack decided to observe the photo more closely while Gusto looked at the letter. He took a pen out of his pocket that he found on his way to the bathroom. Which was useful, since he could circle the strange letters that were capitalized on the letter. "E." He said, "W," "E." It spelled 'ewe,' and Gusto smiled. "EWE." He said. "The code word is ewe."
"There's a computer here, so maybe we can rent ourselves a vehicle if these people are willing to help us out? Whoever they are?" For now, Jack will play their game, but he will find them. Kill them even. He knew he was a force to not be reckoned with.
Hope you guys enjoy this chapter! Sorry if it seems boring, but I didn't want to write 2k words full of boringness when I can be writing 3k words worth of action in the following chapters!
