Chapter Five
Traveling through the forest was not something Kristina wanted to do, especially when she was wearing an emerald green dress. The uncomfortable dress she wore was practically chafing her. The shoes weren't all that better either; they were flats, not the tennis shoes like she was used to. All Kristina could think about was missing her husband and being in their own timeline. The timeline someone currently trapped them in was nothing more than a pain in the ass. Worst of all, there wasn't even a single bathroom in sight, which she expected since they were in 1522.
"Hold on!" Kristina complained as she leaned against a nearby tree. "I need a breather. I forgot how long these walks were in 1522," She continued. "I get the tattoo is leading us somewhere, but where?" Kristina asked. Ezra flinched once again. The tattoo glowed every time they were near something magical. Kristina would be lying if she said she wasn't worried, anytime they neared something, she would notice that Ezra looked weaker by the second. "Ezra? Are you okay?"
"Son, be reasonable, if we follow exactly what Rowena says, then we'll have a problem, haven't you looked at yourself? You're growing weaker," Dean said. "If Rowena did something to you, then let me know so I can kill her sorry ass."
"I'm fine," Ezra responded, shaking off the look on his face. "Lets keep going."
"Are you sure your okay?" Kristina asked.
"If one more person asks if i'm okay, I will scream!" Ezra responded. Kristina was about to say something when the group heard a girl crying for help. Looking at each other, they took off toward the source of the crying and stumbled across another village.

When they heard a girl crying, he and his family raced to figure out what was going on and stumbled across another village. From the looks of it, few people were out and about. Not like the other village. This one looked practically dead. Ezra and his relatives started making their way through the village when a young girl about seventeen ran over to them, dried tears were coming down her face.
"Please! Will you help us?" the girl asked.
"What's going on, ma'am?" Kristina questioned.
"My sister, she's taken ill and I don't know what to do."
"Isn't there a physician on site?" Dean chimed in.
"He won't be here until later, but there has to be something you can do." the woman was practically begging for help. Remembering what his grandmother and his mother had taught him. Ezra knew he could help. Ezra was about to say something when he turned to find his father shaking his head at him.
"Dad, come on, I can help!" Ezra said.
"Ezra.." Dean said. "Can I talk to you for a few minutes.. Kristina do you think you can comfort her?"
"Sure." Kristina said even though she knew what Ezra and Dean were going to talk about. Ezra knew where this was going to head considering the situation. His father never let him try anything in fear that he might get hurt. One thing that Ezra was not too happy about. All he wanted was to help people who need it, wasn't that what his father told him? Help those who they couldn't help?
"Dad, what the hell?" Ezra said. "You know that this is what you and mom have been training me to do."
"Yes but son, you don't even know this woman, you never know what she might be planning." Dean responded.
"I can handle this, I'm tired of you treating me like a baby," Ezra complained. "I'm not a baby anymore, I can handle things on my own."
"I didn't want this for you, I wanted you to have a normal life, a life that I couldn't have."
"You of all people know that there is no way we can sneak away from that." Ezra was done listening to his father. If he wanted to help this girl he was planning on doing that no matter what. Turning away from his father he approached the young girl despite his father's protests.
"I can try to help," Ezra said. "Just show me where she is."
"Thank you!" the woman said happily. "This way!" she led them to her house, along the way Ezra's father was doing nothing but complaining. They arrived at her house and pushed the door open. Inside the house, the room was small. A fireplace stood in the middle of the living room and a bed sat in front of the fireplace. A young girl with dark brown hair was coughing up a storm. Ezra walked over to her and sat down on the bed. He placed the back of his hand on the girl, the heat from her head was burning up. No doubt she had a fever and if left untreated, the young girl would die. "Is there anything you need?"
"A bucket of water and a cloth." Ezra said instantly. The woman nodded and walked out of the house while Kristina approached Ezra and Dean stayed back. Frustrated.
"Ezra? Are you sure about this?" Kristina asked. "We don't know the girl has. What if she's contagious?"
"Aunt Kristina, I can't just let her die." Ezra said and remembered the pendant around his neck. He pulled it off and looked at it, the pendant was silver with the initials JHS on it.
"Ezra don't." Dean said. But Ezra ignored his father and placed the pendant in the girl's hand. He remembered what his mother used to heal him and his father when they were wounded and spoke in Tagalog. The woman came back with not only a bucket of water and cloth but the physician as well. Quickly thinking, Ezra pulled the pendant away from the girl and placed it back around his neck before putting it in his shirt. He stood and turned to find the physician walking over to the bed. The girl, now with full strength sat up easily and looked around at all the eyes staring at her.
"Sister?" the girl said. Tears brimmed the woman's eyes as she ran over to her little sister and sat down and gave her a hug.
"This is impossible," Said the woman. "You were so ill.. doctor," the woman turned toward the physician. "Is she better?" The physician, an old man with graying hair made his way over and checked everything that he could when there was no sign of fever, Ezra saw the man smile.
"She'll be fine," the Physician said. "It's a miracle," the physician turned toward Ezra and the other visitors that he wasn't exactly expecting. "How did you do it?"
"I... Uh..." Ezra stammered.
"We taught him how to take care of the fever," Dean said instantly, his son needed to be protected and any sort of healing power would have been considered witch craft and he wasn't about to let his son die. Not on his watch. "We showed him everything we knew about taking care of a fever."
"Well thank you for that, I'm sure that this town will be happy for you." The physician bowed for respect and walked out of the house and therefore the village.
"I don't know how you did it, but thank you so much, is there any way I can repay you?" the woman asked.
"Do you think you can show us the quickest way to the castle?" Kristina asked.
"Of course," The woman responded. "Please, follow me," the group followed her out of the house as they made their way to the path. "Just go down this path and you should get to the castle by tomorrow."
"Thank you." Ezra said.
"Safe journeys." The woman stated before heading back to her house. Once she was out of sight, Ezra turned toward his family.
"Are you ready?" Ezra asked.
"Well, since we're kind of stuck here because someone got into something he wasn't supposed to," Kristina started. "By the way, I'm telling your mother." Ezra remained silent as the group forgot everything that happened beforehand and made their way toward the castle.
