Chapter Eight
The next morning, the sun rose, and everyone was still fast asleep. However, one thing that the group didn't realize was that around the time that the sun rose into the sky, the soldiers from the castle were going through their normal routine, hunting in the morning to bring something back to the castle for the cooks to make. Ezra was the first to wake, and he yawned noticing that his family was fast asleep. Rubbing his eyes, he got up from the ground and started making his way to a nearby reservoir. The guards had just made it to the opening when they saw Kristina and Dean sleeping on the ground and another cot lay empty. They assumed that due to how different they were and the fact that they were strangers, made it obvious that the group were the ones that the king was looking for. The head guard ordered a group of his men to go after Ezra and the others stayed with him since they were planning to take them to the castle. Ezra was just splashing water on his face from the reservoir when he heard a twig snap behind him. Ezra slowly got up and placed a hand on his whip.
"You know it's a little rude to sneak up on someone as they're waking up, right?" Ezra said and pulled his whip out before turning to face the guards there were at least ten of them and Ezra had a distinct feeling that the king knew they were there. Pulling his whip free from the hook on his belt he flicked it and the end wrapped around the end of the sword. With a swift move, he pulled it free from the guard's grasp and it flew. Ezra reached up and grabbed it mid-air. That feeling of using the whip made it seem like he was a warrior, but he didn't even know how he knew how to do that. Only when he saw the tattoo glow did he realize what went down. "Okay that was cool!"
"By the order of King Henry! You are under arrest for witchcraft!" the guard said. "Get him!" The guards ran at Ezra causing him to step away and fight back. They knocked the whip out of his hand so all he had left was the sword that he stole. Using every ounce of fighting techniques his father and his uncle taught him, he fought back as hard as he could, but they eventually disarmed him. The guard that disarmed him kicked him back sending him against the stone wall. He groaned and looked up, the guards were getting closer, he looked behind one guard and saw his whip lying on the ground. He grabbed a handful of dirt and once the guard got close to him he threw the dirt in the guard's face, the guard stumbled into his group nearly toppling all of them over, but that gave Ezra a chance to grab his whip. Once in hand, he looked up and saw that the guards had regained balance and they were now running at Ezra with their swords drawn. Ezra looked around for a quick getaway and flicked his whip up on a large branch and quickly pulled himself into the branch causing the guards to fall into each other again.
"Where the hell did he go?!" the guard said. Ezra searched for another way to knock the guards out suddenly an idea occurred to him as he looked over at another branch, the branch he was on was getting read to break so he had to think fast. Flicking his whip it latched onto the furthest tree branch just as the branch he was on started splintering.
"Hey assheads!" Ezra said from above. Confused, the guards looked up and saw Ezra in the tree. "I'm not doing any harm I simply want to talk to someone about certain things and I can't exactly do that if you keep getting in my way! Lights out dumbasses." With one final push on the branch he was on Ezra broke the large branch and swung over to the next one just in time to see the guards get hit in the head with the tree. They collapsed unconscious, at first Ezra thought he killed them, but when he saw that one of them was breathing, he was relieved. Suddenly as if registering what happened, he jumped down from the tree and freed his weapon. Ezra raced to the campsite to find that his dad and his aunt had lost a battle. They were nowhere in sight.
"Dad?!" Ezra called out. "Aunt Kristina?!" Panicked Ezra searched for any sort of evidence that could link to his family's kidnapping. His eyes landed on something shining in the early morning light. He raced over and picked it up, it was his aunt's locket, during the fight, he figured she'd lost it. He searched for anything else that pertained to his family's disappearance and noticed that his father's amulet was lying in the dirt. Worriedly, he picked it up and out of the corner of his eye, he saw a piece of parchment lying on the ground where his father's necklace was.
We have the girl and your father witch, if you want them back you better come to the castle, there's something that the king wants from you. Surrender now, or else your family gets it.
Ezra's eyes widened the king took his father and his aunt. Ezra groaned wondering how this could have happened, all he wanted to do was to talk to someone at the castle. What purpose did the king have to kidnap his father and aunt? He cursed under his breath knowing full well he had to save his family before something terrible happened. Ezra was about to travel to the castle when suddenly, the tattoo glowed and burned something fierce. Ezra cried out and collapsed on his knees, he was shaking and the tattoo seemed to glow longer. Ezra groaned until eventually the light died down and all he could make out was angel wings. Ezra laid back and his vision became blurry, in his vision he could make out a woman standing over him.
It'll be alright. The woman said before Ezra passed out.
A/N: I only wrote this as no one's perspective since I figured It would be best for me to write the fight scene out like that. Hope you enjoy!
