Chapter 5
It didn't take long to get to the small medical storage room. When we came inside, it was surprisingly clean.
It was like no one ever came in there.
Po set me down gently on one of the beds as he went to go search for bandages.
While he was searching, I looked out the window. The sky was a very dark gray, smoke rising up not too far from where we were. I also heard howling and screaming coming from the nearby village.
I shivered, becoming nervous. What kind of place was this?
Then, a certain place came back in my mind.
Gongmen City.
I shook the memory away, not wanting to recall anything about that sad city. It's been years since we last visited, but I'd rather wait until I'm fully ready to come back.
The atmosphere was too dark for me; from the chase, to my injury, and the howling and screaming... I closed my eyes. It was too much.
Without realizing, I started to sing.
I remembered the song I sang when I was little, word for word. Whenever I was sad, or bored, or lonely, I would sing the song I made up to express my feelings.
The world is a strange place
It's crazy how things can change
One day, it's all happiness
The next day is all sadness
Will tomorrow be full of rain?
But now, I don't know~
If I can let my emotions show
When will this all end~?
I just want to smile again
And I want to make my father happy
Hopefully, he will be...
I trailed off, opening my eyes. I smiled softly to myself. Looking back, those wishes would've made my younger self smile if they came true.
Now... they have.
I realized it was too quiet in the room, so I turned my head from the window.
And Po was staring right at me with tears in his eyes.
Realization hit me like a ton of bricks, and my face started to heat up on high.
HE HEARD ME SING!!!!
Po then rushed over and started rambling. "You sound amazing! Why haven't you sung to me earlier?! I love it!"
As much as I appreciated his compliments, I felt too embarrassed to reply back.
I mean, I didn't even know I was going to sing out of the blue! So for Po to hear me, is TWICE the humiliation!!
"Oh, I forgot! I found the bandages!" He said, waving them in my face. "Let me wrap you up, and you'll be okay."
He gently lifted up my leg and moved it slightly so he could wrap it better. As he started, I wondered if Po thought this was like Gongmen.
"Po, can I ask you something?"
"Sure, Ti! What is it?" He asked, paying attention to my wound.
Sighing, I looked back outside. "This place. Doesn't it remind you of... Gongmen City...?"
I felt him stop, and I glanced at him. He looked back at me and bit his lip before finishing wrapping up my wound.
"To be honest, it does. That wolf guy who was hunting us down earlier, gave me Shen's army vibes. But at least we managed to survive, and I'm glad nothing major occurred!"
He's trying to point out the positives, I thought with a smile.
He would always think of a way to help others not be depressed; whether it'd be joking around, or just saying some good things in a bad situation.
Po certainly is a great guy...
Then, I realized something. What if we were stuck here?
My heart started to race fearfully as I looked out the window once more, the screaming and howling becoming louder than before.
What if we got captured? What will happen to us? We'll never get home...
I forced myself to stay calm. This was no time to get scared.
You're the hardcore Master Tigress. You can get out of this. You did it before, you can do it again!
Feeling determined, I tried to get off the bed. But I slipped and bumped into Po, who tripped from my unexpected weight and we both fell on the floor.
I blushed when our noses almost touched, but I quickly got off of him and sat on the floor.
Po came closer to me, a slight frown on his face. "You need to let your leg rest, Tigress."
I glared at him, growling. Did he not see the situation we were in?!
"In case you've forgotten; we are stuck in an unknown world, and we may never get back home. We need to find a way out of here, and I am NOT letting an injury get the better of me!"
I tried to stand up, but Po lightly held me down.
"We will find a way out of here. But right now my main concern is you."
I sighed. "I appreciate it, Po. I really do. But we have to- Ah...!"
I felt his paw touch my cheek, and he started caressing it!
Po, why are you doing this?! I'm going to faint if you keep embarrassing me~!!
My heart pounded hard as my face heated up on high. I tried to speak, but only a few words came out.
"P-Po...? What... are you doing...?"
His jade eyes showed determination as he stared at me.
"Tigress, I want you to know something. I'm not letting anyone hurt you, or take you away, not even after all those battles we faced together. I care a lot about you, Tigress. And remember, you will never, never, lose me. Because I'll always be with you, and... I love you too much to let you be in pain."
He suddenly engulfed me in a bear hug, rubbing my back as a way to comfort me.
But, all I could think about was what he just said. My heart raced yet again as everything sunk in.
H-he... He does love me...
I hugged him back tightly, as I felt hot tears come down my face. I felt so happy...
"Check out that building!"
We both froze, looking at the door. Loud footsteps started coming in our direction.
"We gotta hide!" I whispered.
Po nodded and helped me up. Seeing an empty closet, we quickly went in and shut the door, darkness surrounding us.
We heard the soldiers break in the infirmary and start destroying everything outside. I grew scared as I held onto Po's arm, feeling him hold me close to him.
Then, everything went silent.
Please don't find us... Please don't...
The door was ripped open, and we were attacked.
As they tore us apart, I screamed for Po before I blacked out.
*Finally! Chapter 5 is done! Enjoy, warriors!*
