Kathy's POV
"Daniel, help me pick a color."
I'm looking at flowers in a portfolio. I'm very excited for the wedding. Even though it's six months away, I feel like it's tomorrow. Daniel walks over and kisses me on my cheek. I blush.
Daniel is like my prince charming. He's very attractive and dreamy. He has the most gorgeous smile. It lights up any room. I'm so lucky to have him all to myself.
"I ever tell you how lucky I am to have you?"
He smiles and kisses me. So gentle. So tender.
"Everyday, babe."
I smile.
"I love the white roses, Kathy."
My eyes widen and I smile.
"That's exactly what I was thinking. "
Daniel smiles and says, "Great minds think alike."
I smile and kiss him once more. My sister calls Daniel over. I tell the florist that I want them all over the wedding arch. Just then, my phone rings. I answer it.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Mrs. Wallace," Whoever this is has the most sweetest voice I ever heard, "I'm the tiger expert you hired. We really need to meet today to discuss what the tiger is suppose to do. No one told me."
I nod, then realize he can't see me. "Yes. Today is perfect. Meet me at my resident and bring the tiger."
"Bring the tiger? Why?"
"Well, doesn't he need to familiarize himself with my home?"
There was a pause.
"I guess so. Yeah. Ok. What time?"
I check my watch.
"How fast can you get here?"
"Oh, um," he sounds surprised, "maybe ten to fifteen minutes."
"Well, hurry."
I hang up the phone. I put it back into my purse.
"Daniel, the tiger expert will be here soon."
Daniel claps his hands in excitement.
"Yes. So glad we could do this."
I laugh at him and say, "I don't understand why you want a tiger at our wedding."
Daniel stands in a heroic pose.
"It's a manly thing."
I laugh.
"Plus, Kathy, wouldn't it be cool if the tiger was my best man? That would be awesome."
I pull Daniel close and say, "I want people to want to be us, not think we're crazy."
He shrugs his shoulders. "Yeah, you're right."
I smile and give him a peck. He smiles and goes into the kitchen.
Michael's POV
Stay cool, Michael. It's just Kathy Kendall, the world's most wealthiest woman and the world's most talented actress. My palms begin to sweat. Plus, she's marrying Daniel Wallace. He's every woman's dream. I roll my eyes. He's basically a King because of the way people treat him. Does Kathy really love him? Why should you care, Michael? She'll never fall for you anyway.
I take a deep breath as I pull up to her front gates. They're shiny gold. Probably twelve feet tall. I press the intercom button. No one answered. Am I suppose to talk through it? God, I probably look stupid right now. I press it again and this time, I hold on to the button and say, "Um, I'm here for the appointment. I'm the tiger expert, Michael Jackson." I let go and wait. Soon after, the gates open. I carefully drive up the driveway and park my van. I get out and close the door. The front door opens and Daniel Wallace comes out. Damn.
"Hello, Michael! I'm so glad you could make it! Please, take the tiger out and come around back. The misses doesn't want the tiger inside."
I nod. He goes back inside. I walk around back and open the doors. My black tiger, Kenny, looks at me. I smile, without showing my teeth, and get the tiger restraints. Kenny stands up and knows it's time to go. I open the cage and put the collar around him. I've had Kenny since he was born. His mother, Hope, had a infection during the birth and died soon after. We keep Kenny on surveillance to keep an eye on him. He's not dangerous, we just want to keep an eye on his health condition. Nothing has happened yet, but we don't want to take any chances. Kenny walks out of his cage and onto the driveway. Once outside, he stretches. I lean down and stare into Kenny's eyes.
"We can do this Kenny. This is the last time you'll be shown for people's amusement. Six months from now, you'll be free."
My colleagues and I have built and establishment out in Africa for animals with health conditions. We worked our asses off to pay for that huge land. I mean HUGE LAND. There's enough space to fit three football arenas. Kenny is going to go there with some of the other animals in our business. He'll feel like he's in the wild. It's perfect.
I stand up and walk Kenny to the back. Kenny starts trying to grab my shoelaces. I laugh and say,
"Quit it, Kenny."
Kenny and I have a rare relationship. Have you ever seen those videos where a much larger beast, like a lion or tiger, jumps on the person they know and hugs them? That's how our relationship is. I love him and he loves me.
We make it around back. I stand clear of all the decorations. The wedding is still six months away. What's with the set up? I stand near a fence until someone comes to me.
"Mr. Jackson," the maid keeps her eyes on the tiger, "Daniel will be right with you. Until then, he wants you to walk around the yard with the tiger."
That's weird. "Um, ok. Sure."
The maid quickly gets away from the tiger. I tug on the collar twice. That means walk with me. We stay on the outside of the decorations. They have a big yard. It was a nice walk with Kenny. We make it to the other side and stop. Daniel comes out clapping his hands. Behind him, at the door, is Kathy Kendall. My heart skips a beat. Even though I was pretty far from the house, I could tell it was her. Her long red hair was blowing in the wind. No one else had her perfect hair.
Soon, Daniel was in my view. I look at him. Out of nowhere my feelings toward him changed. Nothing but hatred surfaced.
"Michael, that's exactly what I want him to do."
"You want Kenny to walk around your yard?"
Daniel nods. "Yeah, yeah, but back and forth through the entire ceremony. Is that possible?"
I shrug my shoulders and nod. "I guess... Yeah, yeah. It's possible. As long as none of your guest patronize Kenny in any way."
"Kenny is the tiger, right?"
He must be a slow one. "Yes, Kenny is the tiger."
Kenny nudged me. I look down at him and say, "I'm sorry Kenny. I won't call you that anymore."
I look up at Daniel. "He doesn't like me to call him you know what."
Daniel looks at Michael. "Call him what? Tiger?"
He has to be stupid. As soon as he says that, Kenny stands up and growls at Daniel. Daniel backs up and chuckles.
"I was just kidding, Kenny."
I tell Kenny to sit and he does, but he won't keep his eyes off Daniel. I better teach Kenny that he's a good guy. Don't want a lawsuit on my hands.
