Chapter 2

I snuggled into my couch after a long day at the office. I felt I was making progress with the Munn couple, even after one session. I smiled softly, taking a sip of wine and reaching for the remote. My sister liked to feed my underage drinking habit and bought me wine every so often. I was watching the Game of Thrones, and I couldn't seem to get enough. Skipping the intro, I settled in for an hour of blood, sex, and deceit.

As I watched John Snow trudge past the wall, I noticed a presence in my head.

Alpha, I awknowledged in my mind.

Samantha, I apologize for the hour. I would like to meet with you tomorrow. Please arrive at the house before 9:00.

I cringed at the use of my full name. He always acknowledged people by their full names, but still, it made me feel like a child in trouble.

See you tomorrow Alpha, I responded.

I wondered what he would want to discuss. Maybe he wanted private counciling. Over the past year of helping the alpha and luna, it wasn't uncommon to hear from one of them. It was unusual however, that he wanted to meet with me at the pack house. Typically, he and the luna would come to the office like other clients. Hmmm... I thought. A minute later, I was engrossed in the show, and couldn't be bothered by it.

The next morning brought a chill, so before heading out the door I slipped on my leather jacket. I had placed a full length mirror in the doorway of my apartment. Staring at the foundation line across my cheek, I was reminded why I needed a mirror. I fixed my cheek then assessed my jeans, booties, and jacket. Deaming I looked passable, I walked out the door.

It's all about tricking people into thinking you're good looking, I joked to myself.

15 minutes later, I stepped into the pack house, bee-lining for the Alpha Liam's office. I may or may not be a couple minutes late.

I knocked on the door.

Silence.

My heart beat in my chest.

You'd think after knowing all the secrets between the Alpha and Luna that I wouldn't be nervious to meet with him. Yet, here I am, still affected by the energy he brought to the pack.

"Come in"

I pushed the door open to meet the eyes of the alpha and his son.

"Take a seat," Alpha pressed, "I have invited you here because we need your help. You've been holding out on us."

I gulped. I had known he'd ask sooner or later. They all did.

That's when Alpha's son, Caden, looked at me with pleading eyes.  "We know that you have the ability to locate one's mate. We wouldn't have asked if there was another option. But ook at me! I am almost 25 and have yet to find my mate. My father and mother are ready to pass the title. Help me. Help me find my other half"

Cadens brown eyes were desperate. His tie that would lead towards his mate shot out from him. It was beautiful, a teal tint that elegently flowed out the door, lighting a path to her.

My heart ached for him and the answer I was about to give.

"You know that I can't do that," I protested. "You are supposed to meet your mate in the way that the moon goddess has decided. If I were to point you in her direction, it would ruin everything that the goddess has planned for you"

I shifted under the Alpha's disapointed gaze.

"Then what's the point?" Caden asked. "Why do you have this ability if you won't unite people?"

I tried to remain calm. If only they could trust that everything would work out. If I told him that his mate was to the east, and lead him to her, there was no telling what would happen. Could you imagine if something bad happened to them because I was the one playing god? It wasn't my place.

"My gift allows me to help people grow their bonds with those around them. Even though you haven't met your mate yet, that doesn't mean there isn't already a bond between you. Therefore, I see it right now," I paused, frustration building in my chest. "You don't think I haven't wanted to find my own mate? I see the energy between us, have my whole life. You don't think that hasn't been difficult?" I said sternly. Realizing my outburst could have been offensive, I blushed. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to," I started only to be interrupted by the alpha.

"No Samantha, I did not realize," he said. Silence filled the room. My mind clouded, all I could see or think about was the string that seem stronger than all the others I've seen... My own mate bond.

"Think it over," the alpha said, "you are dismissed".

"Thank you Alpha," I said. "Caden" I nodded.

I rushed out of the room as fast as my feet would let me go.

Hey all! Happy break! Maybe not the most fun chapter, but hopefully answers some questions.

Well Well Well. What's going to happen from here? *wiggles eyebrows*

Until next time
