Chapter 10
(this will be short. Sorry)
David rushed over to the medical wing of the facility as soon as he could. Goddamnit, Amber better be alright. Sure, he knew she was cocky but he didn't she'd challenge Able to a fight. As soon as she was better, David was going to smack her upside the head for even thinking that was even moderately a good idea.
By the time he got there, Amber was awake, sitting up in the infirmary bed.
"Amber, Amber!" David called out to her. The redhead looked up at him. She was very noticeably bruised up, her arm in a sling as well as a few bandages across her face.
"Jesus Fucking Christ, Amber! What the hell were you even thinking?!" David asked her. "What did you think was going to happen?!" David asked
Amber didn't respond, instead just letting out a huff, her none broken hand pinching her brow.
"Amber, say something. Christ... You had be worried.. Just because your anomaly has gotten you out of worse, doesn't mean you can be this fucking reckless!" David looked Amber over. "God. You better be alright after this.."
"I'll be fine, David. I'll live."
David took in a deep breath. "How long is your recovery time?"
"About 2 weeks at most."
"That's two weeks where anything that could happen and you'd be out of commission." David replied. "That's why I've already talked to the Director before I came here. From now on, while you're recovering, Able will be staying with me."
Amber looked up at him "Are you sure? Able doesn't like you much either."
"I'm not going to have you struggling to watch over him whilst you're trying to recover. thats just a recipe for disaster. Besides, I'm sure Able wont be taking any orders from you. Especially after being proved right."
Amber let out a frustrated sigh and David gently held her uninjured hand
"Just focus on your recovery, Amber. I promise I'll be just fine." A little smile on his face "It can't go any worse than it had for you, after all."

Iris watched as SCP 4818, Leora, went through a few training excersizes. Iris watched as Leora manipulated the light photons she generated into two luminescent swords.
Iris couldn't help but feel a little tense watching her. She knew she shouldn't, that it wasn't fair to Leora..
But she couldn't get him out of her head.
Couldn't get the man who she once called an ally, a man with only malice in his mind. A man who was responsible for the murder of her entire squad, the only people she could really consider friends in the cold facility that was the foundation.
She could just see him now. The gleam in his eyes from the sight of blood, hacking and slashing through mobs of enemies. He was more animal than a human being. Something like him just couldn't be human. It couldn't.
She trembled. She felt her chest start to tighten at just the thought of him. The way he'd look at her sometimes after a mission, just watching, staring at her with an unyielding gaze that felt burnt into her soul.
She didn't know how she managed to get this far, meeting Able face to face without panicking. She started to doubt that she could do that again. She couldn't take seeing him again, not like that. Not like that.
"Iris. Iris!"
Iris snapped back to focus as Field Agent Reiner put a hand on her shoulder
"You alright? You spaced out for a moment."
"Oh, yea. I'm fine. I just.. I wasn't paying attention is all." Iris sputtered out
"Well, get it together. We can't have you start spacing out on us on a field mission-"
"This is not my first rodeo, agent. I don't need to be lectured" Iris snapped at the older man.
The agent just rolled his eyes "I WAS asking you to go check in on Leora, make sure she knows the ropes. As I know, you're experienced in this, so it's only right you talk to her about what will be expected."
Iris took one glance at Leora, a glare in her eyes that she didn't know she had been giving her until she caught it herself. Iris sighed, standing up, dusting herself off
"Yea, I'll talk to her alright. Make sure she doesn't make the same mistakes I did.."
