Chapter 3.

Arthit's Pov---------

It was my day off. I had planned on spending it with my kids, but due to recent events, I would be interviewing nannies all day. I didn’t really understand the problem. My kids were relatively well-behaved. Sophie was a little shy around strangers, but she was usually a sweetheart. Robby was a little more difficult. He was very protective of me and Sophie, so he wasn’t crazy about anyone else being a part of our family. The only nannies he approved of were the ones old enough to be his grandmother.

I decided that they could both help me pick their next nanny. Maybe that way Robby wouldn’t be so quick to run her off. Leaving them with a girlfriend was no longer an option. I couldn’t believe I was so blind about Lilly. I should have trusted Jenny when she told me that Lilly was a bitch, but I had chalked it up to her 24*7 sarcasm driven behaviour.

Me and my friends, we are like a close knitted family. Always together... Bright, Knott and Prem were my school friends and their parents were friends with my parents since their school days. Knott and Bright lost their parents in the last few years and my parents filled that empty space in their lives without any hesitation. So... We all were like a big extended family for each other. They were like my brothers... Our kids were like cousins to each other and my parents were like the second set of parents to Bright and Knott and grandparents to all of our kids.

After college when I decided to join my father's buisness, Knott and Bright joined in with me with their life partners, Noor and Jenny. Prem choose to be a police officer, as it was his childhood dream. But we always stayed close, meeting for weekend dinner's, celebrating the festival with each other families and spending our holidays together as well. They are my family and I really love them.

I was standing in the kitchen washing our dishes from lunch when my phone rang. I smirked when I checked the caller ID.

Kong....

This should be interesting.

“Hello ??”

I answered smoothly.

“Arthit ??”

It wasn’t Kong.

“Sammy ?? What’s wrong buddy ??”

He sounded scared.

"Me and Papa, were building the tree house. Papa told me not to play with the nail gun, but I didn’t listen. It looked so cool. Trust me, I didn’t mean to shoot him... Papa’s not so good with pain and blood. He passed out. I don’t know what to do !! I put the nail gun down, but I...."

“Calm down buddy. I am on my way... okay. I will be there in few minutes !!”

The poor kid. Though I was a little worried myself, to be honest. That crazy man was started to, kind of growing on me.

“Robby !! Sophie !! Come fast, Put your shoes on. We have got to go !!”

Hearing the urgency in my voice, they came running.

“What’s going on, Dad ??”

Robby asked.

“Kong had a little accident, so we are going to help him and Sammy”

I grabbed my keys.

“Let’s go...”

Robby strapped Sophie in her safety seat as we drove out of the garage.

“Dad... is Kong gonna be okay ??”

“I am sure he will be...”

Thanks to my years on construction sites, My dad taught me how to take care of these kind of injuries. He claimed with Bright on the crew, we all needed to be prepared for anything.

When I pulled up at Kong’s, Sammy ran outside to meet me. He was shaking and had tears in his eyes.

“He hasn’t woke up. I am scared. I didn’t mean to hurt him...”

I got the first aid kit out of the trunk before kneeling down in front of him and putting a hand on his shoulder.

“I am going to take care of him. I promise he will be fine.”

He nodded, but he was still worried.

“Could you do me a favor and take Robby and Sophie up to your room ?? ”

“O-okay...”

Sammy nodded. He smiled sadly at my kids and motioned for them to follow him. I heard Robby telling him it would be okay, that I would fix everything.

When I entered the house, I found Kong lying on the kitchen floor. Luckily he had been wearing a white helmet, so he couldn’t have been hurt too badly when he fell. I winced when I saw the blood on his thigh. I knew that must have hurt, he had already pulled the nail out. At least they hadn’t been using the big nails. I quickly grabbed a wet towel and began to wipe his face and neck. I needed to get him awake, and then I would fix his wound.

After a couple of minutes, his eyes fluttered open. They were a striking shade of chocolate.

“Good morning Sunshine...”

I smiled.

“Ughhhh....”

Kong groaned when he realized it was me.

“Shoot me now...”

“Someone’s already done that, I am afraid...”

I replied, keeping the situation light.

“Now you stay put while I clean your leg up. Can’t have you fainting on us again”

I took some wipes out of the kit.

Kong hissed when I touched the wound.

“Not that I am ungrateful...”

He started, clinching his fists,

“But what the hell are you doing here ??”

I chuckled and began rubbing in some ointment. His skin was so smooth and soft.

“Sammy called. He’s upstairs with Robby and Sophie. I figured since you like to rescue my children so much, that I could return the favor”

I realized I had been rubbing longer than necessary, so I quickly busied my hands with getting the bandages instead.

“So you don’t like blood hun ??”

For a moment he glared at me. I really couldn’t help but find his hostility amusing.

“The sight of blood makes me dizzy”

“You shouldn't have done that kind of hardwork... I told you that yesterday, didn't I ??”

I argued, bandaging his leg.

“Don’t tell me what I can and can’t do”

He snapped back.

“I am just telling you just to be careful”

I closed the first aid kit and looked down at him.

“Hmmmm...”

He scowled and started to sit up, but I stopped him.

“Easy there Mr...”

I wrapped my arm around him and helped him to his feet.

“Why don’t you sit down for a bit ??”

He started to argue, but I wouldn’t hear of it.

“You either walk to the couch or I will have to carry you.”

“You wouldn’t !!”

He replied, sounding unsure.

“Try me.... ??”

I said with a small smirk. I really wouldn’t mind carrying him, he was looking so small and soft, With his short denim shorts and white t-shirt, I wouldn’t mind carrying him up to his room even.

Kong brought me out of my thoughts by hitting me in the chest with his helmet and heading for the living room. I was left with the helmet in my hands. I smiled and went after him.

“You know, you are a little hostile.”

“Sorry for that...”

He shrugged. .

“I do have a soft side. I simply don’t use it very much.”

Sammy came into the room nervously.

“Papa ??”

Soft side or not, I could see how much he loved his son just by the way he looked at him. He was trying to keep a stern face, but failing miserably.

“You are in so much trouble mister. I told you to put that gun down. Now I get to kiss you in public without argument for a whole month... got it ??”

Sammy ran over and threw his arms around Kong's neck.

“I am sorry Papa...”

“Baby, it was just an accident...”

Kong replied, hugging him tightly.

“And it’s not your fault that I am such a weak hearted when it comes to blood”

He met my eyes over his shoulder and smiled,

“But did you have to call Arthit ?? Now I am never going to hear the end of this.”

I laughed, he was...  Damn right about that.

He made Sammy look at him.

“You are feeling too guilty. I can see, now I am going to have to distract you. Wanna go to the movies ??”

“Can Robby come ?? And Sophie and Arthit ??”

Sammy asked hopefully.

Kong looked at me for the answer.

“Sure, We would love to join you both”

I smiled.

“But I get to buy the tickets...”

“Fine...”

He conceded.

“I get to buy the snacks then...”

Damn... Forgot about those. Kong smiled and stood up.

“I am going to change my clothes first”

He started to hobble down the hall.

“There’s really nothing wrong with what you are wearing now !!”

I called after him, causing him to flip me off.

Sammy gasped and looked up at me.

“He should owe me at least 10 bhat for that... !!”

I nodded. I knew exactly what that particular gesture meant, and I would be willing to take him up on it. I shook my head to clear my thoughts.

“Let’s go tell Robby and Sophie where we are going.”

“Okay !!”

He grinned.

“Follow me. They are in my room.”

He kept looking over his shoulder as we walked to make sure I was still there.

“Here is my room...”

He pushed open the door and motioned for me to go inside.

I smiled at what I found. My sweet little Sophie was standing on a bed in the shape of a pirate ship. She was wearing an eye patch and holding a plastic sword. Robby was standing beside the door, inside a hanging bed, Which was built in the shape of a nest at the corner. He had a bandanna over his hair and was looking at me through a scope.

“Aey Captain !!”

He shouted.

“What are you two doing ??”

I asked.

“I turned them into pirates”

Sammy replied. He rushed over to his bed.

“Show your Dad, what we taught you, Sophie...”

She held out her sword.

“Arrrrr.... Attack...”

I quickly picked her up and swung her around.

“What did you let these boys do to you princess ??”

I asked, kissing her cheek.

“Daddy, I am a pirate not a princess ...”

She giggled. I rubbed my nose against hers.

“But that’s a great idea Arthit”

Sammy spoke, scrunching his face in thought.

“I wonder if Papa would get us some armor. We could be knights. We would need a dragon too”

“My Uncle Knott could be the dragon !! He’s really big...”

Robby spoke with a smile.

Someone cleared their throat causing us all to turn to the door. Kong was standing there in with an amused look on his face.

“Alright you scary pirates, let’s get moving...”

Robby climbed down the ladder quickly and ran over to him.

“I am glad you are okay Kong.”

Kong smiled,

“Thanks kiddo. Did your Dad tell you that we are all going to the movies ??”

His eyes brightened and he shook his head. Kong looked at me, sighing.

“What have you been doing up here Rojnapat ??”

“I got sidetracked...”

I replied, defending myself.

“Our boys turned my little girl into a pirate...”

Sophie came to my defense.

“Yo ho ho !!”

“She will turn out as a fighter with these boys.... ”

Kong replied.

I started to say something, but got cut in..

“Come on kids before Arthit’s mouth gets him in some trouble....”

My treacherous son reached up to hold Kong's hand as they walked out of the room. Sammy looked at me sympathetically,

“My mouth gets me in trouble all the time too...”

“That’s okay Sammy. I think it’s our thing”

I assured him.

“You ready to go ??”

“Yes Captain...”

He grinned and ran out of the room. I smiled and followed him with Sophie.

I convinced Kong to let me drive since I had a safety seat for Sophie. On my quest to hear his snappy replies, I opened his door for him with a little bow, just to tease him but he didn’t get in.

“Aren’t you forgetting something Rojnapat ??”

He asked.

Both boys were in the car. I was still holding Sophie. I had my wallet and my keys. Finally I gave up and shook my head.

“Not that I know of...!!”

Kong reached over to Sophie and removed the eye patch that I hadn’t noticed she was still wearing. Then he smiled and got in the car. I let out a breath and shut the door.

“You made me lose, Sophie...”

“Sorry Daddy...”

She smiled. I strapped her in her seat before getting in on the driver’s side. I looked at Kong.

“Not. A. Word.”

I said.

“Ayi hye Captain !!”

He replied.

I pouted and started the car.

“You should really be nicer to me, kidnapper. You never know when you are going to need my help again.”

That got him going.

“For your information Mr. Rojnapat, I did not need your help today. I would have woken up eventually, and it was just a small nail. I was a little distracted back in the day, I have dealt with much worse than this little flesh wound.”

“Well Mr. Suthiluck....”

I asked.

“May I know, What can be worse ??”

“Sure...”

Kong snorted.

“I keep my hostages chained in the basement...”

I smiled at his sarcasm. I guess it was his way to divert the attention from himself, but I really want to know him, Know about his life... Or maybe his wife too... I never saw or heard about Sammy's mother. I just assumed they are not together anymore, whatever the reason, I believe that I am interested in getting to know him.

“Well... Mr. Suthiluck, if I hadn’t been there to clean up the blood, who’s to say you wouldn’t have passed out again ??”

He let out a frustrated noise that sounded very much like a growl.

“Fine... But that doesn’t mean I am going to be nicer to you. You seem like the kind of guy who has one too many people kissing his ass already”

“Oohhoo Papa... there goes the penalty....”

Sammy said from the backseat. Kong huffed and gave all three of the kids a coin.

“I like it when your dad comes around”

Sammy whispered loudly to Robby.

“He makes me more money.”

I laughed loudly at this, and Kong was fighting a smile. The rest of the drive to the theater was relatively peaceful. The kids were chattering quietly behind us and Kong was humming along with the radio.

“What do you guys want to see ??”

I asked when we got there.

“Can we watch Spiderman ??”

Robby asked on behalf of himself and Sammy.

“If it’s alright with Sophie and Kong”

I answered.

They both turned to Kong and Sophie.

Kong looked around at the crowd of people going in and out of the theater.

“It’s fine with me on one condition”

He said.

“I am cashing in on one of my kisses.”

Sammy scrunched his face up as Kong planted a loud kiss on his cheek. When Robby snickered, he turned on him

“I think you need one too”

And he got him next. Robby didn’t seem to mind as much. That surprised me, Robby wasn't a fan of PDA either.

Sophie looked offended.

“What about me ??”

“Oh, I am so sorry”

Kong laughed and picked her up, kissing her on the cheek.

“Is that better Miss Sophie ??”

“Yes... Now it's Dad's turn...”

Sophie clapped her tiny hands and I smiled at Kong's shocked and flustered face.

"It's okay Sophie.... I will collect my kiss on some other time"

I replied to my princess and winked at Kong.

He glared at me in return. I laughed out loud, this crazy man made me laugh more often than I am used to, in last few days.

“Okay... Then It’s Kong's turn”

Sophie said, surprising Kong with a kiss.

He smiled softly before looking at Robby and Sammy.

“You boys should pay attention. You could learn something from this one.”

Both the boys groaned. While I laughed again.

As earlier arranged, I paid for everyone’s tickets while Kong took the kids over to the snack counter. I am fairly certain he forced them to get more than they wanted so he could spend more than I did. I knew there was no way Sophie would be able to eat that many nachos.

We got the boys and Sophie all situated. Kong was about to sit down beside Sammy, but I stopped him.

“What are you doing ??”

“Ohhh Yes, You are right !!”

He replied.

“Sitting down is so overrated these days...”

I glared at his sarcasm and took his wrist and led him to the row behind the kids.

“We have to sit back here, so we can do our parental duty and throw popcorn at them if they get too loud”

“And we can’t do that sitting beside them ??”

He asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Not as effectively...”

I informed him by throwing a popcorn at Robby. I smirked triumphantly when he rolled his eyes and sat down.

“I knew you would see it my way.”

Sophie turned around

“Kong ?? I am full...”

Her little mouth was covered with cheese.

Kong took the nachos and handed them to me before taking a napkin and wiping Sophie’s face. I could have done it since she was my daughter, but I liked seeing Kong do it more. He handed Sophie a plastic cup of gummy bears before sitting back down.

“I will take those...”

He stole the nachos right out of my hands.

“You can’t possible eat all of those...”

There was no way. He was too petite.

“Watch me...”

He replied, shoving a chip in his mouth. I don’t know how he did that without getting cheese on him.

The movie started, and aside from Kong elbowing me a few times for stealing his nachos, Kong and I got along great. Robby did throw popcorn at us twice. Apparently we were disturbing him. He’s too much like me for his own good. He and Sammy rambled on and on about the movie once we got in the car. Sophie’s mouth was still busy with gummy bears.

“Hey... Rojnapat, this isn’t the way to my house !!”

Kong said as he looked out the window.

“I know”

I replied calmly.

“Since you managed to outdo me and buy all those snacks, I think it is only fair that I take you both to dinner.”

“You are not buying us dinner !!”

He replied.

“Who said anything about buying dinner ?? My family always gets together once a week. I have already called my mother and told her to expect two more.”

I waited for the explosion.

And he didn’t disappoint.

“You did WHAT !! ?? No, Arthit Rojnapat, you take me home right now...”

“Sorry. Mom’s already made the arrangements. You wouldn’t want to disappoint her by not showing up, would you ??”

I was loving this.

Kong groaned and slumped down in his seat.

“You said it was a family thing. Sammy and I, aren’t family.”

I disagreed.

“You are the one who kidnapped my children more than once. Of course you are family, and Sophie and Robby have already claimed Sammy as their new brother. I am afraid you are out of excuses Kong. And by the way my friend are all charming people. We will be meeting at Knott’s house tonight, So his Nine months pregnant wife, Noor can join us too. You remember Knott, don’t you ??”

He growled again. I was really starting to like that sound.

When I pulled into Knott’s driveway, I hopped out and jogged around to open Kong’s door. He didn’t budge.

“Come on...”

I pleaded.

“I swear you are going to love them. If you want, I will even hold your hand.”

“What good would that do ??”

He smirked, getting out of the car.

“Are you guys coming in or what ??”

Bright shouted from the door.

“Uncle Bright !!”

Robby ran right into his arms.

I picked up Sophie and motioned for Kong and Sammy to follow me.

“Bright, allow me to properly introduce you to Kong and Sam  Suthiluck.”

“You kidnapped the famous kidnappers !! ”

Bright shouted and Sammy laughed, he gave him a high five,

“Awesome.”

Then he focused on Kong,

“Listen Kong, my wife and I could use a little time to ourselves, do you think you could kidnap my son for a night ??”

Kong looked at me.

“I thought you said your friends are charming...”

Bright laughed

“You will learn to love me.”

He grabbed Robby under one arm and Sammy under another.

“Come on boys. I want to beat you at some video games.”

“He just took my kid”

Kong shirked.

“Here...”

I passed him Sophie

“Have one of mine....”

When he smiled, I put my hand on his lower back to guide him inside.

“There you are !!”

My Mother came right over.

“You must be Kong. I am Arthit's mother. I just met Sammy, and I already love him.”

She kissed both Kong and Sophie.

“I have to get back in the kitchen, but please make yourself at home.”

I cleared my throat before she could get away.

“Oh !! Arthit dear...”

She kissed my cheek and continued on her way.

“I am clearly the favorite !!”

I said when I caught Kong looking at me.

Knott chose that moment to come over

“Now we both know that isn’t true Arthit. Hello again Kong. How’s the treehouse coming ??”

I chuckled, and he of course glared at me. .

“Sammy and I started to work on it today, but we had a few distractions...”

“Yes, A nail to the thigh... is quite the distraction ”

Knott replied calmly.

“It indeed is...”

Kong replied sweetly.

“And if you bring it up again, I would be more than happy to show you and your big mouth friend, exactly how distracting it can be.”

Kong took Sophie and went further inside.

“He threatened to shoot me in my own home ??”

Knott chuckled, but then his face turned serious.

“You don’t think he really would, do you ??”

It was my turn to chuckle. I gave him a pat on the back without answering before heading in to join the others. Bright and the boys were having fun with a little Mario Kart. He kept trying to cover Sammy’s eyes to keep him from winning. Sammy found it hilarious. My Father was sitting with Matt and Sophie in his lap playing the role of the proud grandfather perfectly. The women were suspiciously missing.... But where is Kong ??

“Dad ?? Where’s Kong ??”

I knew it was silly to be worried, but the women in this family were crazy.

“Jenny took him to meet Noor”

He answered distractedly not even looking up from the little ones...

“She said they had some things to discuss.”

Knott was one step ahead of me as we practically sprinted down the hall to the master bedroom. We threw open the door and were greeted by their laughter.

“Neither of them could sit down for a week”

Jenny was saying. I cleared my throat, but when they saw us standing there, they only laughed harder.

“Arthit...”

Noor smiled prettily. She was confined to her bed since her last semester started, because of few complications.

“We were just telling Kong here a few stories about your own construction injuries. It seemed only fair.”

“Damn....”

Knott whispered. Then he put on his most charming smile.

“Noor... baby, why don’t you let me help you down to the dining room ??”

He somehow lifted her with ease and hurried out of the room.

I looked at Jenny and Kong.

“Should we get going too ??”

“So you have taken a nail to the ass...”

Kong asked, as we walked towards the dining room.

There was no way I was letting him turn this around on me.

“Yep. I have even got the scar to prove it. Would you like to see ??”

“Do you usually behave this eager to drop your pants to strangers ??”

Kong asked with sarcasm, again.

“That’s how these friends are...”

Jenny chimed in.

“Bright dropped his, on the first Date night, and according to Noor, Knott dropped his within the first week.”

“Thank you so much for the useful information, Jenny”

I said tightly. I chanced a glance at Kong to see him biting his bottom lip in attempt to keep from laughing.

“We are really not the man whores she’s making us out to be...”

That did it. The laughter came freely after that.

.
.
.
.
.

Dinner was an interesting affair. Thanks to my nosy family I learned more about Kong and Sammy. I found it particularly amusing that his father was a police officer considering I only met him after he kidnapped my children. Both father and son duo, shied away from questions that were too personal, so I didn’t know where Sammy’s mother was, but I was sure Kong would tell me eventually. He also politely refused to tell us what he do for a living. Bright’s mind went straight to the gutter earning him a smack from Jenny. He was disappointed when Kong assured him it was nothing illegal.

By the end of the night, Bright had convinced Kong to bring Sammy to City club football tryouts, in which Rojnapat group's team is a defending champion, and Kong agreed with a big smile.

The kids were sleeping In the backseat as I drove to Kong’s house.

“Do you need help getting him inside ??”

I asked when we pulled in his driveway.

“No, Thanks”

Kong smiled.

“I am a pro at this....”

He hoisted Sammy out of the car. “I like doing it while I still can. Kids grow up too fast.”

I knew exactly what he meant.

I at least opened the front door for him, seeing as how his arms were so full. Sammy has a tall built.

“Have a good night, Kong”

He nodded,

“You too, Arthit.”

After closing the door, I jogged back to the car. It had been an interesting day. I didn’t know exactly what I was hoping for, but I was happy with how things were going. I am really in a good mood right now, Nothing could bring me down.

“Dad ??”

Robby asked groggily.

“Who’s gonna be our nanny ??”

Shit.... I forgot about the interviews !!
